  1. Re: OIF for Powered Armor why? The rules are ok, the abuse of the rules are not. The problem: Powered Armor Man's armor is rarely (translation - Never) ever broken, stolen, or unavailable. It's just a charade!!! Look at how many characters have powered armor with the OIF focus, or other powers with the OIF focus. If it's such a burden, why is it so rampant. Ablative, Activation Roll, OIHID are obvious alternatives, but not taken anywhere in proportion to OIF. Wonder why??
  2. Re: OIF for Powered Armor why? So, you are saying, if your power armor had no focus, you would have appeared in the old west flying around with power blasts. The time warp was designed with the limitation, only affects foci powers???? Isn't the point of the time warp to bring you back to the period?? Going by this brilliant logic, that means you can't break the wall of the villian base down, because it's not a focus!!! Your words not mine. My prediction is when the 6th edition comes out, they will clean up the abuses of some of these limitations. The first one will be making Power Armor its own power framework!!!
  3. Re: OIF for Powered Armor why? Once again, as stated, this can happen to Powered Armor - no limitation. If you put on, it can be taken off. Strike Two!!! I am sure your powered armor will pass customs in a commercial flight. I understand your point, but once again same as the regular armor. Unless you specifically describe it as unbreakable, the regular power armor can be broken just as easily. And finally, regular power armor guy is in shorts too!! Yes, because of below. I agree. And this is why players take the OIF bonus (limitation) because it rarely if ever comes up. You know it and I know it. The problem is not with the system, but the GM who doesn't enforce it. I agree, that's why I say end the facad now. Make it a Power Framework!!!
  4. Re: OIF for Powered Armor why? My overall point is this, Powered Armor with the OIF limitation is no different than Powered Armor without the limitation. The only difference is the reduced cost. The same armor, in both cases, does not have to be worn all the time, can be damaged, removed, require repairs, be stolen, be affected by magnetic powers (unless specifically protected from that; which is an Advantage). Can someone name me a limitation that is OIF and not just normal for Powered Armor?
  5. Re: OIF for Powered Armor why? True, but you have to land that Haymaker. He's not just going to stand there and wait. It is a realistic maneuver, but not seen in quite some time. So without the OIF limitation, you are saying Powered Armor is: Always Worn....huh??? Cannot be destroyed......Say what??? Cannot be taken away....what you talking about Willis? True, if the GM doesn't make it a limitation, it isn't. This goes with the armor not being available 1 in 3 times. (Who follows that rule??) I believe Powered Armor, which makes up most of the OIF, has really evolved into its own Power Framework. It has access to offensive, defensive, movement, and sensory powers.
  6. Re: Gun multipower I agree, he can be disarmed. Also the gun can be targeted and (easily destroyed). The question is, " is this a common tactic (disarming or attacking the focus) in the games he participates in??" If the answer is yes, then the Focus is good. If the answer is no, then the limitation is not a limitation, but simply a special effect.
  7. Re: The Knights of Justice I am sure it does happen, especially as your base character has alot of powers by himself, but I would guess it doesn't happen that often. I would give a -1/2 limitation. Then you are saying your powered armor suits are Breakable? Then the limitation is reduced to -3/4. Durable -1/2 and Unbreakable -1/2. However, for the love me, I don't understand how you take a -1/2 limitation for a powered armor suit which is unbreakable!!
  8. The Obvious Inaccessible Focus limitation for Powered Armor (or for that matter any type of OIF) seems a bit high at -1/2. I think this is one of the most over used (abused) limitation. Remember: " A limitation that doesn't limit the character isn't worth any bonus" Has anyone ever attacked the powered armor suit instead of the guy wearing it. Wouldn't that make more sense. In some cases yes, others no. If breakable, the DEF of the all Focus (Foci) is the highest power (with the focus limitation)/5. A gun with 10d6 EB is DEF 10. If the focus (as in powered armor) can use the PD or ED provided as DEF if higher. You have to do 1 more Body than the DEF to penetrate the armor. Then you destroy one Power. (by the way a multi-power counts as one power). I just don't see don't see how taking the OIF limitation for powered armor is a limitation? Where is the limitation???
  9. Re: Seeds of Change PBEM Obviously, they will pull "vanishing act". These players have more fun designing the characters than actually playing the game. Once the characters are done and submitted, the high drops off and they move on to other things. The names of the characters in the list were sort of lame. Hopefully, you will get some actual players who want to play. I would suggest drop to 350 points total as a starting value. Good luck!!
  10. Re: Gun multipower Stopping the Abuse...... Is this "gun" ever going to be taken from the character. If the answer is yes, then OAF applies. If the answer is no or "theoretically it could be" then this is not OAF but Only in Heroic ID. 1/2 phase to switch slots is not worth anything. Because you can still attack in the phase. Except for full attack actions. Clips for AP rounds is Charges limitation. Beam attack can go in each slot only as it only applies to range attacks. Thank you for ending the abuse!!!
  11. Re: The Knights of Justice Interesting, the armored guy with multiple suits. This of course follows along with the Iron Man phenomena. I don't care for the limitations on the multi-form. 44** Multiform (500 Character Points in the most expensive form) (x4 Number Of Forms) (110 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Turn (Post-Segment 12), Character May Take No Other Actions, -1 1/2)* Remember "a limitation that doesn't limit the character isn't worth any bonus". The extra time is abuse. You are getting a (-1 1/2) for getting dressed. I don't think your armor guy is going to show up at a battle in the wrong armor. I never cared for OIF (-1/2), I prefer Only in Heroic ID (-1/4). The restrainable limitation appears constantly. I think that is way over done. Vengeance and Recoil did not look bad. I like the psych lim Should not Kill....not will not just should not!!
  12. Re: Villians & Vigilantes (aka Living Legends) "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* Here is the F.I.S.T. I have always hated the OIF limitation, especially for armor and armored suits. The limitation (-1/2) is too high for a suit that no one ever gets to take away from the character. Just a thought. I built him with Only in Heroic (Villiany) ID for all of his characteristics and powers. He came out with 372 point total. I kept the spirit of the Power Blast Device giving him the charges limitation for the EB and RKA. Once again, if you don't like it, change it to fit your game.
  13. Re: Villians & Vigilantes (aka Living Legends) "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* I played a PBEM version in the late 90's. They wanted money for every turn of play. The game went well. We didn't roll up characters, we just took a few powers. You got to decide between devices, magic, powers, skills, etc.. I created QuickFreeze, he was a cool character. I need to work on him.
  14. Re: Signature Power Campaign Atleast you have played together for a good length of time. That will help. I always love the inexperienced players who end up with mega scale characters. That is where the game will grind to a halt. If you want more role-playing and a signature move or power, I would start at a low point total.
  15. Re: Need help with time powers. I agree, this sounds like a major transform. This affect is similiar to the Grey Gargoyle from marvel comics who has a turn to stone touch attack. A major transform which eventually wears off. The target who is turned to stone, doesn't suffocate, and automatically gains armor while in the stony prison.
  16. Re: Villians & Vigilantes (aka Living Legends) "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* I have completed Mocker (from the Crushers). As a more major villian compared to Vulture, Mocker came out to 548 total points. He comes in the Hd format (an excellent utility). Take a look and if you don't like it, make your own changes.
  17. Re: GURPS International Super Teams "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* I would like to take a stab at the good Doctor's Body Switching Power...I have to think about it... You are correct about the objection to posting characters from other games on this board. I would pretty much guess the owners of the board frown on it. I am not into making any money, but there is intellectual rights that would be honored. I agree to follow the rules of the board. However, there is email and private messages!!! The conversion would make a lot of changes as the games are a little different. Take Hornet (Crushers) as an example: He has Flight, Vibratory Powers, Enhanced Sense. This would obviously be (no pun intended) expanded for Champions.
  18. Re: Steriaca's Champions-paloza I was not aware you were using desolid more of a movement power than as a defense. Although, it is always a fail safe. I did not see that you put range on ghost touch. I saw it as a Drain to Body. That would be a quick kill type attack, which also does not add STR to the attack. Overall, the concept was good. There is excellent name and a solid interesting background which will fit into many campaigns.
  19. Re: GURPS International Super Teams "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* I would love to see the Errants.....Cockroach, Mirage, Adonis, Scuz, Magneton.....can see the others...but can't think of the names..off hand....still have The Dawn of DNA!!! How did you do the good Doctor DNA? And ...uh....She-Ariel?
  20. Re: GURPS International Super Teams "to HERO Adaptations & Conversions* I have adapted characters (heroes and villians) from Villians & Vigilantes, Gurps, Heroes Unlimited, and Freedom Force. There are alot of good ideas there.
  21. Re: Mystical Voltron-Inspired Powered Armor The blonde hottie...from Ally McBeal....I think you are referring to Portia De Rosi, Cortney Thorne-Smith (she was a natural blonde...right!!) or Jane Karkowski (misspelled). I also liked Calista Flockhart ( just needed more meat on those potatoes)
  22. Re: DEMON Adventures Looks like he has to go to the bathroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Re: Need help on Aborting An Action My two cents..... Assuming the Force Wall is opaque and not transparent....or invisible....... If the Force Wall is a complete circle around the projector, it could have a roof (like an igloo) to prevent enemies from above just to shoot down on him. If there is a roof, the speedster could run up and over the force wall completing his move through (without an attack). If there is not a "roof", then the speedster could use Acrobatics skill (if he/she has it) to flip "over" the wall and finish the move through on the projector. The skill rules states the GM could give a +1 to +3 OCv for this maneuver as a huge surprise to the projector!! Now that is Super heroic!!
  24. Re: Aquaman: WTF? When you have a comic book hero who has been around as long as Spider-Man....you have to do something to keep it fresh!!
  25. Re: Show me the PC Just an observation..... CON ...too low...for a HTH fighter..stunned easily STUN ...too low.....once stunned say goodnight!! END ....too low......he can make 6 attacks before he runs out of energy... I love players with the OAF weapon who never seem to lose it..... go start ....keep working on it!!!
