Re: Bricks Get Hosed, Or Not So are you saying that if you build a 6+ speed 'brick', it's not a 'brick' but a 'martial artist'? Even if that said 'brick' has no 'martial arts'? Sounds like you are trying to make the defining characteristic of a brick it's speed stat. No flame. Genuine curiosity.

Re: Is it Dex or is it Speed? Most speedsters are hard to hit due to their velocity. In almost all hero combats, there are no penalties to hit due to (insane example coming up) your 100" velocity. Hence, to simulate the 'hard to hit', most folks take a high dex for the cv. This is an oversimplification, but I hope the gist of the explanation is understood.

Re: Rant? Speed in Hero All this does was help show the flaws that the hero movement system has, along with a few others. Just because a sprinter can run faster than someone, doesn't mean that same sprinter should get the same amount of actions in combat as a trained delta force member.

Re: Rant? Speed in Hero He was not really talking about 'fantasy'. He was talking about how he could react. Hence, the discussion of 'real, normal people in real, normal situations'.

Some very interesting points about powers, but that makes him lean more to an energy projector, or at the very least a hybrid, rather than the 'strong guy/brick' of the group. As for the rest of the stuff, that's why I brought up my basic ideas about his personality and origin. The rest is up to you!!!! One thing I would like to know is if I went overboard on his science skills for physics or if I am missing a skill or two.

Re: Rant? Speed in Hero Not a bad speed chart, with some exceptions. I always find it amusing that someone always thinks that just because you can run fast (olympic sprinter) or you can do gymnastics (olympic athlete) you should get more actions in a turn. Which is why I am with mostly with ghost on thoughts about speed.

Might be getting back into actually playing again and would like some help. Here is a write up for my character. Basically he is one of the foremost (if not THE foremost) physicists of his generation (he thinks of all time!). If anyone watches Stargate: Atlantis, think Rodney but less of a fearful wimp. Basic origin is he was the lead physicist working on a new super collider working on generating mini big-bangs/blackholes to delve the secrets of the universe. An experiment was interrupted by a villian/group/organization (they wanted to make a point singularity weapon), he was bombarded by some of the new particles created by the collider and Wallah! He gained the ability to emit and control graviton particles around his body. This transformation enhanced his physical attributes as well. Think of a nice heavy-g world. What do I need help with? I am not a very good writer. I need help with a well written background/history write up, origin, some personality/motivation write-ups, the whole schmoo! I've seen the character write ups here and I know there are more talented folks here than me! Also any suggestions on possible changes to the character. I have not gamed with these folks for quite some time, but the character is on the max side of defense/attack limits. Thanks in advance!
