I have the box set of "Wild Wild West' (the T V series) and it is fun. As far as I am concerned the movie version was an absolute travesty, done by people with no taste or appreciation of the source material that they were bastardising !

Has "Cast A Deadly Spell" been mentioned ? Horror/detective with a hero named Phil Lovecraft in a world where magic works, what's not to like ?

If we are talking pilot/sportsmen how about the Australian test cricketer Keith Miller who served in the air force. Once when asked whether he was feeling pressure during a game he is supposed to have replied "Pressure  ? This isn't pressure. Pressure is having a Messerschmitt up your arse !"

It was the best one so far. But episode 2 of Flash really set a high bar. I love how they've kind of combined the look of both Dr. Alchemy and Mr. Element into a single character. He is fricking scary.

Not pulp "fiction", but I recently got two books "The Wonderful Future That Never Was" and "The Amazing Weapons That Never Were" both edited by Greg Benford and full of pictures and articles from "Popular Mechanics" magazine, from the 1930's through to 1970. Could be a great resourse for "Weird Tech" and weapons with which to equip science heroes and would be world conquerors. (Hearst Books, $u s 24.95).

I, personally, preferred the stand-alone "monster of the week" episodes of X-Files to the myth-arc episodes. Why? Because it became clear to me early on that Chris Carter did not, in fact, have a master chart of The Conspiracy over his desk, and he was making **** up by the seat of his pants...just like the monster of the week episodes. But with MOTW, I didn't have to bother with the nonsensical mythology.

Shrug, magical girl would get a quick invite into the teen titans, where Starfire would immediate explode from cuteness overload (deafening the rest of the team and a 3 mile radius around Titans Tower with a Super Sonic "SQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I am sure that I have mentioned him before but Reg "Snowy" Baker. Multi sport phenomenon , represented Australia in international competition in five sports, took part in 29 different sports, silent movie star, hollywood stunt man. Olympic silver medal (boxing 1908, middleweight) . The circumstances of this were somewhat controversial as his oponent's(JWHT Douglas), father in law was the referee and had the deciding vote in a split decision !

The anime film Porco Rosso has a significant amount of pulp elements in it (the main character is an independent pilot with his own prop plane).

Although it is set just after WWII, the movie "Cast A Deadly Spell" with its PI hero named Phil Lovecraft has got a lot of Pulp fun to it.
