  1. Re: Cool Pulp Images Great image, Edsel. How do you suppose she fits the Thompson into that little-bitty thigh holster?
  2. Re: 39 point me An interesting exercise, but could my fragile ego withstand the inevitably puny points total of a modeled me? The solution: create myself with a psychological limitation of "Delusional," then I can believe I have as high a points total as I like.
  3. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Summon Avatar Causes a small picture to appear next to the caster every time he speaks (maximum 80 pixels).
  4. Re: Anybody out there playing Doctor Who Hero? Who fans might be interested in the following - read it right to the end: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5211050.stm Looks like the potentially very-gameable-indeed Torchwood is on its way...
  5. Re: Help! Cardboard Nazi stand-up download needed! Only in gaming do we talk about things such as "relatively normal nazis." I love my hobby
  6. Re: Anybody out there playing Doctor Who Hero? And possibly because when it started there were only two television channels Incredible to think that the show was supposed to be an educational programme for children when it was first considered.
  7. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Unless you fancy swerving into classical music with The Empire Strikes Bach, all I have to offer at the moment is Episode VI: Return of the Gigi.
  8. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Hm, I'm not getting much further than Episode VI: Return of the Jedis and Dolls, which is poor even by my own low standards. This may take some thought.
  9. Re: CBikle Stop writing me Perhaps because we've not filed a restraining order yet?
  10. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares One does what one can
  11. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Instant Korma's Gonna Get You Transforms any item into a mild curried dish, served with rice and naan bread. The korma will immediately attempt to devour the caster, but on a successful PRE attack the caster can direct the korma to go for a different target. Detect Railroading and Detect GM Fiat Caster immediately becomes aware of arbitrary GM plot and situation manipulation. On a failed roll the caster instead becomes aware of the nearest railway lines or the gamemaster's small Italian car.
  12. Re: CBikle Stop writing me Wouldn't restraining order have the side effect of unleashing chaos? I say keep order unrestrained, especially my Champions 25th order...
  13. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Pacific.
  14. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Instant Korma Transforms any item into a mild curried dish, served with rice and naan bread.
  15. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Shear Genius Causes a massive boost in intelligence but also massively increased rate of hair growth. If the target cuts his hair then the spell is cancelled and intelligence is reduced to normal.
  16. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Mr Rogers' Neighborhood: The Kung Fu Years.
  17. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Safety in Numbers Shields the caster in a swirling armour of equations, which can only be penetrated by working out their solution.
  18. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Easy As Falling Off A Log Causes movement rates to follow a logarithmic progression, but only if the GM is using miniatures and a hex map...
  19. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Mere Trifle Turns any large body of water into a multi-layered dessert made of spongecake, jelly, custard and whipped cream. I'll get my coat...
  20. Re: Anybody out there playing Doctor Who Hero? Don't do that. They improve handling and look really cool...
  21. Re: Anybody out there playing Doctor Who Hero? That changes in the current series, but he's arguably not a real companion so much as an occasional guest (or perhaps pest).
  22. Re: Anybody out there playing Doctor Who Hero? Well, that's entirely in keeping with the show. The TARDIS is as much a plot device as anything, and we've seen it equipped with features such as the HADS (Hostile Actions Displacement System) that causes it to dematerialise and rematerialise elsewhere if attacked... and then another writer decides to forget about that, or get rid of it or whatever, and we see the likes of Torchwood carting the ship off on a truck. The current series has shown us very little of the TARDIS interior, so its present options and abilities are largely unknown. I tend to think of it not so much like a series of rooms but more like a university campus, with courtyards and so on (heavily influenced by Shadis and the Cloister Room, I suspect). The present series also addresses the "companion problem" to a degree, since Rose is an attempt to make a more resourceful companion than many of those who journeyed with the Doctor before her, but it's still a key problem with playing any Doctor Who game. Series finale next week, after a nail-biting cliffhanger last night!
  23. Re: How to handle Western Hero Duels/Showdowns A preference of style rather than a tweaking of the game mechanics, but to me the PRE element is the most important part. A traditional duel - pistols at ten paces - is not so much about facing down your opponent and forcing an error (though there is an element of that, to be sure). The western duel, though, particularly as portrayed in the old "spaghetti" westerns, was as much a psychological contest as anything. In real life, assuming that such things even happened in the manner we think of them, duels were likely a good deal less noble and interesting. Some excellent suggestions in this thread. I may well be pinching some of them, given that my girlfriend has unexpectedly announced that she might try an RPG, as long as it's a wild west one, a bit like the Deadwood telly series.
  24. Re: Snarf Quest There used to be a card game and some metal miniatures too.
  25. Re: Regency HERO Resources You'll never guess what the end title music is... Quite a good, if rather brief, slice of the Beau's life, saddled with somewhat eccentric direction and music, but the performances are top notch.
