  1. Pretty good work. I take it some of the fight scenes are from a video game or something. I didn't care for the Phantom Menace style "aaaah aa-aaaah!!!" chorus music. And some of the lightsaber action is jarring when spliced in with the original 1977 Han/Luke stormtrooper scenes. The pacing is way different. Still, it was a fun watch. Way better than I could do.
  2. If they really need him, they can always run him through the time machine the same way they did Ant Man. Remember Baby Ant Man and Old Man Ant Man? Need a younger Cap? Run time through him backwards.
  3. It would be interesting to see if Sharon Carter ever finds out that the guy she was flirting with was actually the younger version of her uncle.
  4. Since he showed up in the same timeline he left (or at least a version of Cap showed up in the timeline that a version of Cap left), I think we've got to accept the possibility that he was always there. In 2012, when one Cap is fighting an earlier version of Cap over Loki's scepter, somewhere there's a third version of Cap (much much older) who is holding Peggy's hand while she's in the hospital. When freshly thawed out Cap finds out that Peggy (not Sue) got married, he doesn't know that she's married to his future time traveling self.
  5. I don't know how well The Passion of the Warlock would go over with audiences.
  6. I always figured that Cap was worthy, but intent also matters (unless you're Thor -- it is his hammer after all). Sure, Asgardians love getting drunk and flexing their muscles, and Odin would be happy with post-battle feats of strength, but it's not something that Cap is all that comfortable with. He's a humble guy, and gaining the powers of a pagan god just to prove he's better than everyone around him isn't exactly in his comfort zone. The hammer wiggles, but Steve is internally conflicted. On the other hand, saving his planet from destruction? Saving Thor's life? Stopping the greatest mass murderer in the universe? Cap has no reservations about that. His mind and body are one.
  7. I liked Cap's send off. He's ready to settle down, and seeing Peggy again in 1970 brings back all the old emotions. He's been coaching people for the last 5 years, helping them adjust to loss and telling them to get back out there, and all the while he hasn't been taking his own advice. I think the loss to Thanos changed their perspective. Wasn't it Rhodey who asked Natasha if the stuff she was doing really needed to be done at all? It was a traumatic experience and the Avengers all handled it differently. Once they found a way to set it right, Cap was done. He'd been living in a world that didn't really feel like his own for almost 15 years. He'd seen half the world die, and had brought it back. For the previous 5 years he'd been more Captain Therapist than Captain America. I got the feeling that he was already sort of retired. There weren't that many super threats running around that needed a face full of vibranium shield. Cap goes back to 1946 or so, meets Peggy and they pick up where they left off. I never saw the Peggy Carter series, so I don't feel like I've got to fit anything in there. It's easy enough for Steve to dye his hair, maybe grow a mustache or a beard. Everybody thinks he's dead, so nobody is going to be very suspicious if the guy Peggy marries kinda looks like an older version of Steve. He wears some loose clothes to hide his Cap physique, gets a job as a truck driver or something, and he knows it'll all be okay in the end. Obviously the two of them work out some sort of understanding as far as keeping things secret. Maybe the reason Hydra doesn't get to seize control until 2013 is because Steve and Peggy have been quietly opposing them over the years. It's only once she's bedridden that they're really able to move forward. By that time, just-thawed Cap is running around.
  8. I like spreading the stats out a bit because I want a little more separation between total normals and legendary athletes. It doesn't bother me if it doesn't quite match the real world. I once saw a college football player break his own leg when he jumped in the air and chest-bumped a teammate. He didn't kick anything, he just landed funny. He came down on his leg a little awkwardly and snap -- a season ending injury. So does that mean he has a 0 PD? Vulnerability to failed Dex checks? Nah. Real life just doesn't get perfectly simulated by game mechanics. Giving a guy an 8 PD doesn't mean that you can beat on him all day with a baseball bat without cracking a rib. In game terms that might technically be true, but narratively it just means the guy is pretty darn tough. He can take a punch. I don't want to see character sheets for Mike Tyson in his prime and see that somebody gave him a 16 Str. Nor do I think Lois Lane gets a 7 Str, even if she's only 5'6" and weighs 130 lbs. There's nothing wrong with leaving Lois with a 10, or giving Iron Mike a 25.
  9. I go with a more heroic scale. 20 is "maximum" in that it's the max you're likely to encounter in the real world. It's not the max a human could possibly be. I reject that idea. 5-8: People of Wal-Mart 8-10: Average couch potato 10-12: Average healthy 30 year old in reasonably good shape 13-15: Top 10% of your high school (when grown up) 16-18: Top college performers 20-23: High performing professionals 25+: Best of the best So let's say you've got an 18 Dex. You could be a scholarship athlete at a big Division 1 school. You could play basketball for Duke, or football at Alabama. You've got a 15 Strength? You might have been a high school wrestler, and you've stayed in shape as you matured into your adult body. 20 Presence? You're a skilled trial lawyer in a large city, respected among your peers. 25 Dex? Nike makes commercials with you in them.
  10. Come up with a generic name in English and slap it into Google Translate. Der Amboss Korps -- the Anvil Corps, because the Fatherland's enemies will be smashed as if they were struck against an anvil. It sort of fits better with the Soviet hammer iconography, but the Germans have Thor, so they can use it too.
  11. No, they weren't important to me. And they weren't important to anybody else either. You see, it's not their movie. zslane's criticism was that the writers didn't want to spend any time thinking of things for Shuri and Mantis to do in the big battle. That's true, they didn't want to spend time thinking about it, or spend time showing it. They are minor supporting characters. They'll get to appear in later movies, the only thing we really needed to see in Endgame is that they're alive again. What about Maria Hill? Should she have had a bigger part than just standing there at Tony Stark's funeral? What about Janet Van Dyne? What about Betty Ross? Isn't it time for a Liv Tyler reappearance? See, we can go through and pick out all sorts of supporting characters and demand that they get more screen time. The truth is, this movie is about the original six Avengers getting revenge on Thanos, correcting their one failure, and then riding off into the sunset. That's what it's about.
  12. Shuri is not important. Mantis is not important. They barely deserve the screen time they got.
  13. i'm still thinking Mysterio is full of crap. Special effects wizard and all.
  14. Have you seen Dances With Wolves? It’s basically the same movie.
  15. No, I meant the " Dude, you just ran like 13 miles in 30 minutes" would be 26 mph. If we say that's Cap's jogging speed (full combat movement but not noncom) then that works out.
  16. Ideally I’d like to do several of these scene breakdowns, and eventually piece together some stats for these characters. i think Iron Man, Quicksilver, and Thor all have a crapload of movement. If Cap has 9” or Running and an 8 Speed, that lets him run at about 50 mph, which might be pretty close to what we’ve seen him do. But Iron Man flies at jet fighter speed. He’s got lots more movement and higher non-combat multipliers.
  17. I wasn't worried about baseline humans. Remember I was using Viper HTH specialists as stand-ins for the Hydra goons. Those guys are 4 Speed. Look at Cap compared to them. I'm not trying to balance against somebody's home campaign. I'm looking at published materials. We can look at Quicksilver later, but I don't think he has a Speed advantage on Cap (as in actions performed). I think he has a movement advantage on him.
  18. Look at Summon again. Specifically look at the Advantage "Amicable". By default, Summons aren't always friendly.
  19. One way is to just require arcane casters to buy combat levels for magic combat separately. The thing is, especially for Fantasy Hero where the combat values are fairly low, there's basically no chance that an alternate CV will be worth an Advantage on the spell. Even if it's just +1/4, it'll be too expensive compared to just buying +3 OCV with spell for 6 points.
  20. Haven't seen any of the John Wick movies. I've heard they're good, but just never watched them yet.
  21. But how do you know they weren't supposed to be there?
  22. I figure as long as you've got the Time Stone, you should be able to prevent the alternate timelines from springing into existence. Plus, for thematic reasons, there shouldn't be a butterfly effect by simply appearing in a timeline. So when Cap, Hulk, Iron Man, and Ant Man appeared in the middle of New York 2012, their mere existence didn't create new realities. As long as they didn't change anything, they could have "always been there" as far as anyone knew. Even stealing Loki's scepter (and then returning it to where it was supposed to be) or having a conversation with the Ancient One wouldn't have necessarily caused a new branch of the time stream. After all, we the viewers didn't see what the Ancient One was up to during the first Avengers movie. Of course, losing the Tesseract and setting Loki free did make a new timeline.
  23. Yeah, remember him basically keeping up with cars on foot in Civil War.
  24. Okay, mine is done. I nominate one of you guys to do the final battle from Avengers Endgame.
