Knew spin on the JLA heroes.
Batman : He looks like that monster from Marnau's Nosferatua. Tall, thin, dressed in black. Downright creepy. His bald somewhat misshapen pointed head, on his hunched up shoulders, this Batman is a real vampire. A strange unliving creature, a ghoul, who has amazing classic vampire powers, great strength, change to shadow, change to bat, hypnotism, invisible in shadows, control of shadows, and of course all the constraints : needs blood, vulnerability to daylight, holy signs, holy water, silver... He has vowed to fight evil in all it's forms to atone for his own damned soul.
Superman : Dr. Kent is a well known scientist who has patented a thousand inventions. He is a gadget man wearing his Super steel grip gloves, his Super x-ray goggles, his super jumping boots, his super cold wave blast gun, his super
(well the list is endless) to help stop crime.
Wonderwoman : She has the wonder touch as she calls it. WW is simply a miracle worker. She's able to fix most anything with her but a touch, from a broken heart to a nuclear reactor melting down. She is a healer. Somewhat innocent perhaps but incredibly powerful. She can see the future and past, cosmic stuff.
Aquaman : Aquaman was once an engineer working in a high-tech underwater nuclear facility when an incredible accident transformed him into a living liquid monstrosity. Instead of losing his humanity he actually became one of humakind's most ardent defenders. He has weird powers, and when near water is simply one of the strongest creatures on earth.
The Martian Manhunter : A team of Finnish scientist found him in a glacier. A perfectly preserved 4 foot tall green Martian. He was equipped with a series of strange weapons (what looked like a spoon with worms all over it, a small silver egg, a bizarre looking gun, a jet pack...) he said his name was J'onn. He was slightly shocked when they told him the date, he had been trapped in ice for the last 50,000 years. He said Martians used to come over to earth all the time to hunt their favorite game, wild man. Now however he laconically notes that man has somewhat evolved to a higher more developed species. Since he is stuck here he has shown benevolence and has decided to help humanity instead of hunting it, all though his first highly publicized interviews will always haunt him and the name Manhunter is stuck to him whether he likes it or not.
The Flash : Wilma West was a photo journalist working on a scope. Dr. Engles an old acquaintance had just perfected an amazing camera which could photograph souls, no less. As the Dr. Was giving a demonstration to a handful of journalist the doors to his lab burst open, in walked several highly trained ghost men! They wanted the camera! The scene broke out into confusion and somehow Jenny ended up with the camera and running for her life. She eventually understood some of the fundamental workings of the camera and managed to stop the ghost guys. The powerful camera has a high array of strange powers, from telepathic imprints to stealing powers! Shrinking targets (and powers) teleportation into camera netherworld, besides a dazzling flash, or energy blast from the camera's phantom zone.
Green Lantern : A strange guide, and kung fu master, leading people to enlightenment and knowledge with his magic green lantern. An old looking chinese lantern attached to a long pole.
Plastic Man : bizarre 8 foot tall android made from indestructible rigid red plastic.
Timeline
The 40's
Justice League members : Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman
The Batman was first seen during WWII as a terrifying figure helping the allies while thwarting the Germans, mostly in eastern Europe. Due to his condition he made little contact with those he helped and it remained very unclear why this bizarre creature was aiding the allies. Dr. Kent, was already a known crime fighter affectionately called Superman by the public, due to his outlandish "super gadgets", had volunteered for the army. His goal was to use the army's structure and resources to help perfect and massively produce his better known gadgets for the war effort. His gadgets, which although brilliant proved just too expensive to mass produce. After several prototypes of some of his best "trademark" inventions ( the super steel grip gloves, the super "bouncing" boots, super bullet proof vest, latter to become a shirt,) the program was canceled. He was however in top physical condition and eventually volunteered to train as a special solo operative with his gear. During these covert missions he not only approached but became good friends with the estranged creature frighteningly known as the Batman.
During one of the wars worst battles, a young English nurse was suddenly "touched" as she later put it. She was healing the wounded just by touching them. She could also see things, important movements beyond time, hear snatches of conversation from the enemy (and understand them!). Dr Kent, hearing of the girl's amazing powers managed to recruit her for his small coverts team. Dubbed Wonder Woman, the young nurse at first reticent to work alongside the strange vampiric creature quickly overcame her doubts when she witnessed the Batman's humanity and strong character again and again. She wanted so badly to heal the poor fellow, but her touch had no effect on the creature. The Batman calmly told her it must be the price he had to pay for an unspeakable past. It was in this way that the young woman secretly fell in love with the misbegotten creature. Dr. Kent ever in his books, tools and plans saw none of this of course. And the three fought and won many battles for the allies. Thus was born the Justice League.
The 50's
Justice League Roster : Superman, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, Batman,
Honorary Members : Wonder Woman II
After the war, there alliance came to an end. Wonder Woman confessed her love to the creature, he loved her too but couldn't bring himself to "soil that good lady" as he later explained to Dr. Kent before simply vanishing into the night. Wonder Woman was crushed. She decided to give up being a hero and went back to England to her family and her old life. Dr. Kent more laconic then ever wished her the best, packed his super gear in 15 huge trunks and headed for the states to continue his research and fight against crime. One of the very first things to happen was his chance meeting Dr. Author Mann. A brilliant young engineer working in the use of hydrogen in atomics. Unfortunately for the man a freak accident transformed him into a sentient being composed entirely of living liquid. Somehow the young man retained his sanity as well as his humanity. He quickly became an obvious replacement for Superman's late team mates. Auqaman was born. For the next few years the partners cleaned up crime in several cities, stopped a couple of alien invasions, and curbed several natural disasters. It was at this time that the Newly found Martian Manhunter, with his strange alien customs and stature, not to mention weapons, confronted the two heroes. A huge battle ensued and for once Superman and Aquaman were hard put to defeat the petit bonhomme, he was that tough! Yet somehow they finally realized that they had made a mistake, the Manhunter was trying to help humans, not hunt them anymore. Dr Kent lauded the Manhunter's strange yet effective gear and the two quickly became fast friends. The MM decided the best way to help the human race was to work with the two heroes, thus the Second Justice League was born. It was about this time that the strange creature Batman surprised them in the night bringing ominous news about a cove of witches and a vampire plague getting all out of control in New England. When the mission was successfully completed Dr Kent actually managed to "cure" the Batman for a spell. He was human again, after hundreds of years! He wasted no time in trying to find the nurse he once loved. Alas she was already married with two kids living peacefully in England, once more she had lost her Wonder powers. It seemed once she was back from the war and living a "normal" life, the powers quickly faded away. They learned however that the wonder power seemed to be on the Reds side, a young farm girl living in Siberia. The cold war. Sometimes she fought with the League (world threatening events) most of the time against, The Specials (communist super group).
The 60's
Justice League Roster : Super Man II, Batman, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash,
Honorary Members : Wonder Woman II, Dr. Clark Kent
Bruce Wayne's health was rapidly deteriorating and there was only one solution. He must return to his former state as the Batman. Dr. Kent inoculated him with the bad blood, the transformation occured and he was once again a creature of the night, stronger and more powerful then ever. Dr. Kent however was starting to get a little old. He was in his mid fifties and actively looking for a replacement, besides he likeed the family life (remember Lois, they have a girl, Kara). He finds a young athletic man named Jimmy Olsen to take his place...
Through the sixties there are confrontations with many supervillans, who have formed groups to combat the League. There are huge monsters and strange ghost men. They are sometimes hard pressed. They find an unexpected new member with Jimmy Olsen's young photographer friend. Calling herself the Flash, Wilma West becomes a very much needed "bizarre and psychic power" of the team. She will spend the next decade trying to figure out what her special camera can actually do.
The team was solid and saving lives, respected the world over, even Wonder Woman (the Russian one) came more often on several occasions, then America went to war again in Vietnam. There was an inherent split as to how the group should handle the war, go in on missions or stay at home. The old guard : Batman, Dr. Kent, Aquaman voted to work as much as possible with the army, the new members : Olsen and Wilma refused to be a part of it. The Martian Manhunter wished to stay uninvolved in a war, but he was an honorary American citizen so he would go if the majority voted yes. It was a tough time for the group and it looked like there would be an eventual split. Wilma decided she would go, but only as a news correspondent taking pictures (and saving lives) with her fantastic camera, also it would allow her to be close to Olsen who absolutely didn't want to give up the Superman gear. The two were married.
The 70's
Justice League Roster : Super Woman, Batman, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Wonder Woman III, The Green Lantern,
Honorary Members : Dr. Clark Kent
The war eventual wound down and there were scars and wounds that needed mending, especially hearts, Jimmy Olsen, died while trying to save a village from a friendly fire attack. Wilma instead of blaming her elders on the team became a silent driving force for the League. She was also pregnant.
It's a sad time for the League, a time to rebuild and move on. Kara, Dr. Kent's girl, now in her very early twenties takes her father's gear to everyone's astonishment. She names herself Superwoman. Another surprise, they find the wonder power endowed to a slightly spaced out antiwar activist in San Francisco. Although the old guard is opposed, they make her a part of the team. They find much of their work they spent thirty years building has toppled in the time they spent in the war. Several of their arch foes are loose again, and many local heroes couldn't keep up with the increase in supercrime. The seventies keep the League very busy. They find themselves fighting not only local crime but uncovering plots on a worldwide scale.
Wilma West has her baby a little boy named Alan. She decides to retire from the team. She is replaced by a mysterious wandering kung fu master, the Green Lantern, who escaped communist China. Although he is wise and spiritually learned, (he can do amazing Zen tricks like levitation, stop his heart rate, incapacitate opponents with the slightest touch etc...) he is still very lost in the Western World. Wonder Woman, with her "far-out" ideas and fascination with anything eastern and spiritual takes to him instantly. The two make an ideal if somewhat disconnected couple. Meanwhile, Kara falls in love with a well known rock guitarist : Dick Grayson (from the band the Robins). They are married, and soon Clark (named after Kara's father) is born.
The 80's
Justice League Roster : Super Woman, Batman, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman III, The Green Lantern, Plastic Man
Honorary Members : The Flash, Dr. Clark Kent
The eighties find the League battling mostly supervillians and otherworldly menaces, like the Martian Manhunter's own people who have evolved during the last 50,000 years into degenerate war mongers. Wilma West still an honorary member makes several appearances. There are three critical events towards the end of the eighties. The team battle a super android constructed by one of their arch foes. An eight foot tall ridged yet powerful Plastic Man, made from near indestructible red colored plastic. Luckily old Dr Kent finds a way to reprogram the unstoppable machine, thwarting the villain and gaining a new member in the process. Also Wonder Woman, now pregnant, slowly begins to loose her powers. The Batman, ever a mysterious figure vanishes without a trace from the team.
The 90's
Justice League Roster : Super Woman, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, The Green Lantern, Plastic Man
Honorary Members : The Flash, Dr. Clark Kent, Wonder Woman III (sans powers)
The Justice League find themselves battling cosmically spawned Demi gods, as well as globally organized crime. The team have near legendary status and the very mention of the League's name strikes fear in most villains and crime lords throughout the world. They help in the Gulf War, although at this time Wonder Woman is without powers, she stays an active part of the team, doing research and helping at the base of operations. She and The Green Lantern have twins. The Plastic Man continues to learn what it is like to be "human". Tragedy strikes the Kent family however towards the end of the nineties. The League's arch foe : Lex Luthor, a one time astronaut endowed with amazing cosmically spawned powers kills SuperWoman and "scatters" Auqaman crippling him in a colossal battle.
2000
Justice League Roster : Superman III, Batman, Wonder Woman IV, Auqaman, Martian Manhunter, The Green Lantern, Plastic Man, The Flash II
Honorary Members : Dr. Clark Kent, Wonder Woman III (sans powers)
With the millenium comes changes, first a young Mexican Nun contacts the Justice League. She is endowed with a pumped up version of the Wonder Power. She first heals Auqaman bringing him back to full power. Next she guides the team on a quest to find the Batman and stop a coming Apocalypse. Along on the trip to complete the team are two of it's youngest members : Alan West (the new Flash) and Clark Kent (the new Super Man). This new Wonder Woman leads the League to England where they find the Batman's crypt. They revive the Batman who had been killed (stake through the heart). Also Wonder Woman guides the team in order to fight a host of demons and other foul monsters due to a dimensional breach with hell itself. Wonder Woman in her purity confronts Satan. The team seal the breach thus saving the planet, reality and billions of souls!!!! Both Clark and Alan are head over heels in love with the young beautiful Mexican Nun!!!!
Now the team is back in America with it's full lineup and strength : The Batman, Auqaman, The Martian Manhunter, The Green Lantern, Plastic Man, SuperMan (III) The Flash (II), and Wonder Woman(IV) - The Justice League of the New Millenium!
