  1. Re: Battle of Detroit

35 PCs? I remembered you said it was a lot, I didn't remember that much!

The number of heavy-hitter NPCs I ran in the New York mutation event was the largest I've run, btw, lemming. I haven't seen PCs bring in so many NPCs but it made perfect story sense as a response to the challenge I set up.

Well, most of the people at that combat were part of the group that played daily so we were very quick. No way I could do it as quickly now. (It's been a long time since I could do 1000 dice/rnd)

And your game went very smoothly. Good use of abstraction.

  2. Re: William Dixon, Golden Age scientist

I think it's the style sheet.

If I save a complete page with Firefox, I'm picking up the surbrook style sheet. Not sure why Konq is having a problem getting it though I'm noticing some odd characters at the very end of the file when saved via Konq.

  3. Re: William Dixon, Golden Age scientist

So if I save a complete page from the Hero site, no problems with either browser. Grrr. Though I'm wondering if part of the problem is the style sheet, since at least here we won't be able to load it.

    href="../index/sstuff.css"

I also noticed if I ran the complete page thru tidy from W3C that it complains about an empty iframe. Not sure why, looked fine, but I'll check more.

And since Oddhat is seeing it from your site, I'll check via there. That way I can eliminate V-Bulletin as a culprit.

    What browser are you using?

I'm using Safari, but have seen it work in Firefox as well (both on OS X).

And I'm using Firefox on Linux (v 1.01)

Ok: Just checked with Konquoror and that shows only starts in the middle of history. It could be there's an unmatched tag somewhere? And Safari & Firefox are being helpful.

  5. Re: The cranky thread

Gah. So I'm on the phone about something that I don't want to get into here, but part of the conversation

"Can we verify your mailing address?"

    "blah blah street, Portland, Oregon"

    "Ah, capital of Oregon"

    "No, that's Salem"

"Well, Portland is the capitol of Maine"

    "No, that's Augusta"

"I am sure it is Portland, I used to live in Massachusetts"

    "It's Augusta"

"I used to go to Portland all the time, I'm sure"

Ok. I didn't want to be on the phone with this person and now I'm arguing with a geographically disabled person.

  6. Re: Absorbtion Burst

    Again, clarification:

I want an Absorbtion that feeds into Strength. But when the character uses a powerful burst, all the Absorbed Strength fades away.

    So you could do

+50 STR, x10 End (-4), from End Reserve, 10 points

    50 End Reserve, 5 points

    Absorption into End Reserve

That would give you the powerful burst. Now you could split the absorption into End & just STR.

  7. Re: All your bases our belong to me!

I think your character is the only one with good taste' date=' too![/quote']

    Hmm.

Mad Scientist, Ungodly Alien Intelligence, Robot that's been in a packing crate for 50 years, and a 5 year old slime mold.

I could of played Reverend Jim from Taxi...

  8. Re: William Dixon, Golden Age scientist

You do realise there are no stats for the character and it seems only a portion of his history was displayed? Or did you do that on purpose?

Are you seeing the scroll bar? I've got a full character sheet.

And I like the Science! suggestion Michael.

  9. Re: Absorbtion Burst

One way I've done this in the past is have the power bought at whatever scale needed. It feeds off a End Reserve that is only fed by absorption.

Of course, this is rather expensive. ;)

Another way is have an absorption that actually builds the power and the power can then be limited by whatever controls you want on it.

  10. Re: All your bases our belong to me!

SF Bay Area. No writeups available, but I've run a few games and played a few games based there.

A few locations: Top of Mt. Tam in the old Air Force base, Treasure Island, Alcatraz, and in one of the old Nike missile bases on the coast.

p.s. My character insisted on the giant lucite map in the justice squad base. :D

  11. Re: Taking Characters from books and making them your own...

I make plenty of changes. Most often in terms of personality, sometimes caricature-like (when I did the F4 in my prior campaign, Reed was a severe manic-depressive, Sue was a frustrated slut, Torch was a glory-hound movie guy and of course easy to anger, and Thing, well, at this point Thing had been cured and quickly killed by an old enemy).

Mainly, I try to make it clear to players these are MY versions and there's no message.

And we still over analyze the comics trying to get clues! :D

Actually, we were just digging for Rogue's name. ;)

  12. Re: Nomenclature

Hmm. Finally wandering by the thread. I've actually had the same thought on Power Defense and kind of like it being "Special Defense".

Oddhat makes a good point, but there are cases where I think there should be a off the wall defense. Though I hardly ever go for the really odd attacks as a GM...

  13. Re: Rounding for nbkbruce

Poor nbkbruce. I just sent him a private message on Setve's response to that post too (although on a different point). Must think we are all a bit needy with nothing to do. :)

Or friendly, helpful and welcoming. Yeah, that's it.

Go with the second thought. Sounds better from a marketing point of view. ;)
