  1. I know you'd have done it for me, if you'd had to..... <burp>
  2. Yes, but defining a martial maneuver will allow it to be used with multiple different attacks, at most at a cost of 1 point per Weapon Element, which can be treated as spread out over all maneuvers. So IMO, you can't make a fair comparison with the single-attack PSL cost. Already noted. And for An Ch'i, this is pretty much what they did. But if this is in a supers game, with, say, 30m of move, you've taken -5 OCV to -1. And the point of allowing an attack anywhere along the path, will probably cancel out at least a couple points of Range Mod. On ranged martial maneuvers, +1 OCV and DCV are 2 points each...not 1. The OCV+ is limited to +2, as well, and that's easily surpassed here. I don't see offensive strike as being based on haymaker...and if anything, what that's saying is that haymaker is a terrible maneuver, mechanically. Offensive strike is built as per the maneuver construction elements, and there are arguably much better patterns. How about +1 OCV (or DCV if you prefer), and +3 DCs? Same 5 points. Perhaps Strafe is a terrible maneuver mechanically as well; it's rather restrictive. But even as such, it already has a caution sign on it...so creating a very low-cost substitute is a very poor idea. The FMove HTH element tends to be tied to, mostly, 1 particular character type...the speedster. That's a difficult type to build. OTOH, energy projectors (taken broadly) with flight are fairly common, and it could be fun to build one using a lot of Leap. Not sure I can remember a projector with considerable Running but it's not that hard to envision.

  6. Makes me sad...and feeling old. 79.... I was still in college when Rumors came out. They did a concert at CU, in Folsom Stadium, my freshman year. HUGE!!!! concert. JAM PACKED. No, I didn't have a ticket...spending money? Non-existent. Caught parts of it in areas around the stadium, as did quite a few others. This was their massive Rumours tour; it'd come out only 3 months earlier, so they were at the absolute top of the rock world. https://www.facebook.com/dailycamera/photos/a.442345411190/10152368344776191/?paipv=0&eav=AfalTl8FliyU7tlPkMJNI54xZMCdd1dJ4sMgs03qZIip0Bt5Mky2GxPVxEWl9TC278I&_rdr
  7. IIRC, one of the strong correlations was the Trumpist candidates with NO experience in politics, especially running for broader office...Senator or Governor, possibly also Sec of State or equivalent...they got hammered. Yvette Harrell lost down here, but was that Trumpism, or her abortion stand? The effect of the abortion decision, and the rapid enactment of laws banning or HIGHLY restricting them, is a complicating issue in trying to analyze these results. I have my doubts that electoral reform can be pulled off in the limited time remaining...because I suspect there may be reasonable bipartisan support for reform, but not a consensus on any set of measures to enact. It'll get tangled up with too many wanting, or rejecting, too many parts so either very little gets passed, or nothing at all.
  8. On the first point, it's becoming a matter of rules philosophy. N-B's argument is a practical interpretation; yours is a tighter, literal one. On leaping linked to gliding? Pointless. If power B is linked to power A, then B can only be activated when A is in use. You cannot generally activate leaping while gliding...or swinging. Leaping requires a solid surface. You could play the Spider-Man style movements, ricocheting off buildings or other solid objects, but that's very unusual.
  9. Well, I think if push comes to shove, the technical build would be Flight X meters (Gliding, -1) Naked Advantage: usable as second form of movement (Leap), applied to Flight (X points) Why? Gliding as a limitation is completely unique to flight as a movement mode. It can't be applied to the leap, so you can't build the power with both. But naked advantages are a tad weird, as well...foremost, they're special powers, and can't be put into a framework. In that context, creating a -1/2 limitation for combined leaping and gliding, wouldn't be horrible, particularly if there's no other limitations to be applied.
  10. This thread, just by circumstance, has had to flirt with the political more than I think any of us would like...so, yeah, let's be careful. I only hope the Iranian team isn't hit with reprisals.
  11. True, but still VERY high. Secretary Under Secretary for Science and Innovation Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy. then deputy assistant secretary Assistant Secretary is a position that requires Senate confirmation. Deputy doesn't, but it is a Senior Executive Service position. For age 34...that's doing exceptionally well. Now? <WHOOSH> Straight down the tubes. This has to be a position requiring a TS clearance, and forget that with a felony conviction.
  12. It shows excellent taste. This week, CBS has 2 games, so the next week they'll only have a single game...so the can bury it completely. As it deserves. Least, I hope so. CBS early slot has Jets-Bills, which is a much more interesting matchup. Huh. I was looking somehow at the week 14 schedule on the byes. Only byes this week are Cards and Panthers, so it's quite possible a team or two will be eliminated this week. ARGH. And TNF is Buffalo at NE this week. My bad!!! So it's next week that's trash.
  13. Oh good lord......... I just looked up what the TNF matchup was... R&R stands for rest and relaxation....not Raiders & Rams. YUCK!!! And no college football. There's a couple on Friday; there's FCS Saturday. Nothing Thursday. Ugh.

  16. Chicago can't win their division, but I believe they are the only team where that's true. In principle, Denver can tie KC...and they'd have to beat them twice, so I think they'd beat them if it was just head to head. (The fact that this is less likely than my winning the Powerball twice, isn't relevant.) Best I can tell, Chicago is also the only team who can't win their division. Houston can get to 7-9-1; Tennessee could fall to 7-10. Indy and Jacksonville wouldn't pick up enough wins to close out Houston in that scenario, I don't think. Now...after this week's games? Indy, Chicago, Green Bay, and NO have their byes, finally, so I'm not sure anyone can be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Plus: the Rams ranking is, I think, based on the fact that Kupp is out, and Stafford probably should be out. The Rams have no chance at the playoffs; Stafford has, I believe, repeated concussions, and that's particularly dangerous. There is no reason to play him. It's largely a tossup looking at their seasons overall, but the Rams are in worse shape. And hey, Chicago's 29th in most of those, IIRC, so it's pretty much splitting hairs. They're all horrible.

  18. It's not quite unanimous, but NFL.com, PFT, Bleacher Report, and ESPN all have the same. Lots of em have the Rams at #30, as well, which is fair. But hey, everyone could see it coming...... Well, anyone that looked past their Super Bowl win anyway. Maybe not this far, but they literally did build a 1-and-done team.
  19. Oh good gosh man, you hit me with that before my first sip of coffee!!!!
  20. In other, sterling news... Utah State. 16.5 point dogs. Down 5 to Boise State, minute and a half to go. They're driving, in the red zone, prepared to take the lead, poised for a major upset. Nice cap to the season. 4th and 9...ohhh no. Picked off! BSU gets the ball at the 9. But hey, all is still well. BSU is gonna just try to run clock and end it, and USU covers easy. But NO!!!!! QB delay, takes it around the end, busts into the clear at the sidelines and does the Energizer Bunny down the sidelines. Well...there goes the game, but hey, just down 12. We're still covering! USU gets the kick, clock's running. It's 4th and 17 with 31 seconds left. Ball at the USU 33. QB drops back, throws a deep curl route....... ..... ......yeah, you know what happens. Picked off, DB's in the clear and has CLEAR sailing to the end zone. 42-23. SVP calls it the bad beat of the year. Congrats, USU, you're #1!
  21. I'm surprised he pled, altho from what I've seen, he didn't have much of a defense. Maybe to avoid any death penalty prosecution? I could see the federal charges dropped as part of a plea bargain, and I'd be fine with it. The state charges include life without parole...and when you're 19, that's 50, 60 years? My personal opinion...that's worse.
  22. True, but it wouldn't be very expensive. It's only a +1/4, and it'll get slammed by Gliding's -1. In *most* cases it's not like you're buying lots of base move with this, in any case. That might actually be the best way to do it...certainly not one that came to mind. And it's simple in both concept and execution.
  23. Trump brings the inconoclastic, rebellious attitude, a presence, and a following. Granted: on policy he brings nothing, but he didn't have anything in '16 either. Lake brings absolutely nothing but election denial, as far as I can tell.
