  1. Since when do college football coaches accede to reality?
  2. Be careful what you wish for. You may get it.
  3. And now a tipped ball bounces off the helmet of the LSU receiver...nice and neat and just hanging there for the Georgia DB to scoop it up for an INT. That's 14 points set up by freak plays, for Georgia. And threatens to build the momentum for the avalanche........ That is, unless Georgia goes for it on 4th and 8 at the Utah 40 like USC did...........up 14..... EDIT: they didn't, and it has...turned into an avalanche. Georgia takes 5 plays to go 58 yards in 1:30ish to slap #5 on the board with 30 seconds left in the half. AND they get the 2nd half kickoff...up 35-7. Might be time to go channel surfing...
  4. Oh my. Talk about rubbing salt into the your OWN wound. LSU drives down inside the 10. Georgia sacks them on 3rd down. LSU has to go for the FG. It gets blocked. That's the self-inflicted wound. Should not get a short FG blocked. THEN, half the Georgia guys are just congratulating each other, and getting ready to walk off...as are ALL the LSU players. But there's one...little...problem. It's a live ball. Georgia guy lets the ball settle, but he's right there...looks at the refs...no one's whistled or signalled, soooo....ok then! He picks it up and *sails* 95 yards with no LSU player in the picture until he's at the 10 and cruising in. Touchdown Georgia. 10 point swing.
  5. Oh my. TCU has a nice late drive, with a 2 point conversion to tie. In the OT, they go for it on 4th and 1...and get stuffed. K-State positions for the chip shot. 31-28 KSU. MASSIVE CHAOS!!!! I LOVE IT!!! And Georgia and Michigan are now absolute locks, no matter what, IMO.
  6. 4 safeties in 1 game????? I bet you could count on one hand, the number of teams that gave up 4, non-intentional, safeties all YEAR.
  7. I do like the shade that TCU uses. Purple is a tricky color. Also helps that, for me, purple looks better with black, than white. But that's probably my inner necromancer.
  8. Let Chaos Reign!!!! The coffin lid's been nailed in place. The grave's dug. They're lowering it down now. Inside 2 minutes to go, Utah SLAMS the door completely with a spirited, tough run for a putaway TD. 47-24. Yeah. This, after USC led 17-3...3 opening possessions, 3 scores. Then the roof caved in. This very likely puts OSU in. A twisted question: does this guarantee TCU a spot, even with a loss? Because if we slot OSU in, then the alternatives would be Bama, Tennessee, and USC...as a 2-loss team but that did play in the conference title game. 1-loss TCU, and in the title game, over 2-loss, didn't even make the title game? We're halfway to Ultimate Chaos!!!! Oh, side aspect. Say a) TCU loses, Georgia and Michigan win b) USC and TCU fall OUT. c) OSU and Alabama jump IN. (I doubt they'd do it, but IF!!! they want to take TCU out, it's a total mess.) It'd seem to be Georgia 1, Michigan 2, OSU 3, Bama 4. That would be Georgia-Bama, Michigan-OSU. Would they stay with it, or tweak the rankings so it's Georgia-OSU, Michigan-Bama. Rather a lot of things have to happen for that to happen, but we gots the start!!!!! K-State vs. TCU in the noon (Eastern) slot LSU-Georgia gets the afternoon slot, 4 Eastern Purdue-Mich, and Clemson-UNC, 8 Eastern Mr. P's blue ponies are in the afternoon slot.
  9. So how many different sets did you send him?
  10. Elsewhere, Elon Musk is finding out that no, you cannot have completely unfettered speech. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/02/elon-musk-suspends-yes-twitter-account-after-swastika-post.html This, after another anti-Semitic rant, including that he "saw good things about Hitler" on Alex Jones' show.
  11. Good win for the Bills; Pats look miserable again. Bills get some separation; the Pats were tied with the Chargers at the front of the chase pack, 8th-9th in the standings. And...9 wins in the bag, a game against the Bears as an early Christmas present. (Turns out they're playing 11 games in total on Christmas Eve, and running a morning-afternoon-evening triple on Christmas day itself, much like Thanksgiving.) That should be #10, and that should get them a playoff berth. The division may come down to the next 2 games...Dolphins and Jets.
  12. Maybe, just maybe, something can now come of this one... Appeals Court overturns the special master review of the Trump docs seized from Mar-a-Lago a while back, and rips the judge. From NYT, mostly a quote of the decision:
  13. Well they do say you can fool some of the people all of the time....
  14. The LA Times gathered up a ton of demographic and economic data, and broke it down all the way to neighborhoods or sometimes smaller cities, in the LA metro area. It's a wonderful resource: https://maps.latimes.com/neighborhoods/index.html For example, for a character concept I'm fleshing out...I wanted a fairly high income, but also very diverse neighborhood. Hmm...flip round...yeah...South Pasadena will work. Good combination of very diverse (white, Asian, Latino anyway) and high income. It is only LA, but it's a wonderful resource if you're ok with that being where the character grew up. Most neighborhood guides don't go into anything like this kind of detail; it's more like visitors' points of interest, and not a lot more. But if anyone happens to know of other major cities, where someone's done this kind of breakdown? I'd love to hear about it.
  15. I suppose it's a bit classless, but I wonder if we could bet on the number of roughing the passer calls against the Texans. O/U of, what, 2.5? And a note to whomever is broadcasting the game: use a delay during visiting team player intros, or somehow be very careful in how you handle the crowd mics. Methinks there will be extensive obscenities voiced by the crowd. And to the fans? Earplugs. Were I betting...I'd be inclined to bet the Texans for the first half, at least. I dunno if emotion can carry them the whole game, and they really are a terrible team, but for a half? Might be worth it. And Watson obviously hasn't played in ages, so the rust element is another factor. But definitely, I'll be rooting for the Texans. BTW, Seattle will probably root for the Texans as well. An extension to that...IIRC, if the season ended today, 3 of the first 5 picks in the '23 draft would've been traded to other teams already. Rams, Broncos, Saints (to the Eagles, no less). Texans have the Browns' #1 pick...so they do themselves a favor there too, by winning and dropping the Browns to 4-8. There's 10 teams at 4-7-1, 4-7, or 4-8 before the weekend, covering picks 5-14, so each game can make a significant change in the draft order.
  16. Oh dear. So, Vanderbilt's had a rough go under coach Jerry Stackhouse...not something he's used to. Tonight against VCU, he's losing again. One of his players gets T'd up...and he's not particularly enamored of the call. He expresses it...in a less than polite manner. HE gets a T. The coaching staff tries to restrain him, but he keeps going at em and going at them. We see him yelling at the back of a ref who's walking the other way...and at one point, he may have spit at the ref. It's not clear; it might just be sharp, angry speech movements...but ya know, those often include spittle spraying. So he gets a 2nd T and is ejected. But if there's spitting at a ref???? By a head coach? As I say, I'm NOT!!! sure it happened but the video suggests he did. If so? Oh dear. Extended suspension at minimum, probably fired for cause. Vandy isn't Auburn.
  17. I know you'd have done it for me, if you'd had to..... <burp>
  18. Yes, but defining a martial maneuver will allow it to be used with multiple different attacks, at most at a cost of 1 point per Weapon Element, which can be treated as spread out over all maneuvers. So IMO, you can't make a fair comparison with the single-attack PSL cost. Already noted. And for An Ch'i, this is pretty much what they did. But if this is in a supers game, with, say, 30m of move, you've taken -5 OCV to -1. And the point of allowing an attack anywhere along the path, will probably cancel out at least a couple points of Range Mod. On ranged martial maneuvers, +1 OCV and DCV are 2 points each...not 1. The OCV+ is limited to +2, as well, and that's easily surpassed here. I don't see offensive strike as being based on haymaker...and if anything, what that's saying is that haymaker is a terrible maneuver, mechanically. Offensive strike is built as per the maneuver construction elements, and there are arguably much better patterns. How about +1 OCV (or DCV if you prefer), and +3 DCs? Same 5 points. Perhaps Strafe is a terrible maneuver mechanically as well; it's rather restrictive. But even as such, it already has a caution sign on it...so creating a very low-cost substitute is a very poor idea. The FMove HTH element tends to be tied to, mostly, 1 particular character type...the speedster. That's a difficult type to build. OTOH, energy projectors (taken broadly) with flight are fairly common, and it could be fun to build one using a lot of Leap. Not sure I can remember a projector with considerable Running but it's not that hard to envision.

  22. Makes me sad...and feeling old. 79.... I was still in college when Rumors came out. They did a concert at CU, in Folsom Stadium, my freshman year. HUGE!!!! concert. JAM PACKED. No, I didn't have a ticket...spending money? Non-existent. Caught parts of it in areas around the stadium, as did quite a few others. This was their massive Rumours tour; it'd come out only 3 months earlier, so they were at the absolute top of the rock world. https://www.facebook.com/dailycamera/photos/a.442345411190/10152368344776191/?paipv=0&eav=AfalTl8FliyU7tlPkMJNI54xZMCdd1dJ4sMgs03qZIip0Bt5Mky2GxPVxEWl9TC278I&_rdr
  23. IIRC, one of the strong correlations was the Trumpist candidates with NO experience in politics, especially running for broader office...Senator or Governor, possibly also Sec of State or equivalent...they got hammered. Yvette Harrell lost down here, but was that Trumpism, or her abortion stand? The effect of the abortion decision, and the rapid enactment of laws banning or HIGHLY restricting them, is a complicating issue in trying to analyze these results. I have my doubts that electoral reform can be pulled off in the limited time remaining...because I suspect there may be reasonable bipartisan support for reform, but not a consensus on any set of measures to enact. It'll get tangled up with too many wanting, or rejecting, too many parts so either very little gets passed, or nothing at all.
  24. On the first point, it's becoming a matter of rules philosophy. N-B's argument is a practical interpretation; yours is a tighter, literal one. On leaping linked to gliding? Pointless. If power B is linked to power A, then B can only be activated when A is in use. You cannot generally activate leaping while gliding...or swinging. Leaping requires a solid surface. You could play the Spider-Man style movements, ricocheting off buildings or other solid objects, but that's very unusual.
