  1. I didn't think it was coded in the slightest. The NCAA is a gigantic committee. Of course it can do nothing...and it even does that incompetently, as the recent NIL sanction cases indicate. It's no coincidence, IMO, that Florida and Tennessee are under investigation for NIL violations, but I've certainly heard plenty that the NIL rules are seriously unclear and generally lacking. And no one expects the NCAA to fix anything in a timely manner. Yes, IMO, this is absolutely the opening volley against the NCAA...and I agree it's entirely the NCAA's fault. It *might* just be football only, but I expect any NIL and transfer rules for football will also be used for basketball. The next move may be to see if the ACC and Big 12 try to join the party.
  2. Yeah, the Suns might be debatable too, but a site that detailed the Dolphins' logos through the years said it's always been the sun. And considering Florida is the Sunshine State, it's much more sensible. Even if it's the Kryptonian sun. We'll forgive you...but only if you find the source and slap the person around for a terrible question. I'm sure Our Fuzziness Who Art In England has a spare cat-o-nine-tails he can loan you.
  3. Titans is one, but I don't see the other, either. If you're thinking the Dolphin logo? That's not fire, it's a sun disk.
  4. Why bother? That's limited to self-mobile robots, and still tends to be relatively limited in action. If you control its mind, you control its body...and it works against immobile computers. And overall, I'd say no. It feels wrong...and this holds true for people. How does the target resist? His mind, or his control systems that replicate "mind." I'll grant that I have seen cases of it body control by muscle control...and the writers generally made it Not Pretty. It was a great way to do quite a bit of damage to the target's muscles...strains, even tears, to muscles and tendons and ligaments.
  5. Oh man..... Just saw this. Liberty here in Cruces, playing NMSU. They miss a shot, NMSU gets the board...and an NMSU player throws a forearm *squarely* into the face of a Liberty player. He's ejected of course... But cripes...right now? On THIS team, after the utter fiasco that forced the school to shut the whole program down, got the coach fired *for cause*, and forced a *completely* new team...every player either got transferred, or arrested on serious felony charges. The Aggies weren't the laughingstock of college sports because there was absolutely NOTHING funny about it. Kid, you cannot do that. I seriously doubt the conference will do anything, because I expect the school to suspend him for several games. EDIT: here's the video. Replay starts at about 45 seconds in, which makes it REALLY obvious. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39441895/new-mexico-state-robert-carpenter-ejected-punch-vs-liberty
  6. Archon. Sometimes political, sometimes theological in fiction.
  7. Have any of them forgotten how crazy he is? Or the degree of irrationality his core supporters show so often? But perhaps from time to time...altho Trump and MAGA certainly manage to demonstrate it with regularity. I think part of the problem is desensitization. On a side note...from the Meidas Touch vid about the amicus brief in the 14th amendment case...huh, well...maybe there's more hope the SC will declare Trump an insurrectionist. Enough so that...mmmmm...IF!!! they disqualify Trump...I think the large bottle (750 ml) of either Chimay Gold or Cinq Cents will definitely be an appropriate way to celebrate. I'd say Champagne, but I don't know if I can get a decent bottle here. I do know where to get the Chimay...
  8. Me too. Brain fart on that last one. In other news, the MLB and the clubs will replace the Jackie Robinson statue vandalized in KC, as noted here earlier this week. And Boise State beats UNM in men's basketball...in The Pit, no less. UNM was #19, but rankings this year are nothing more than big fat targets. And in ABQ...most luscious! The Mountain West currently has 5 teams projected in the NCAA tournament. The Pac 12 and ACC have only 3 each.
  9. Thank you sir, may I have another?
  10. Dan Snyder has some spare cash....
  11. Oh lordy, the irony! We don't need to mention Newsom per se...it's SAN FRANISCO!!! One of the hubs of gay culture in the country. World Population Review (and some others) rank it as the #1 most liberal city in the country. THAT is what they choose to root for??? The mind...boggles................

  13. OK...my bad, I'm misreading bad text. It is negative BODY. This is a workaround I could live with...which in itself would also be a tip-off. When the BODY reaches the point of normal "death"...the body here stops functioning completely. Functionally, it's at negative STUN so it can't act in any event. It never gets a Recovery. It can't regen, barring having the Resurrection adder on its regen. On the flip side, I think I'd also say, the body doesn't deteriorate. Maybe it bleeds out to a point, but that's it. Rigor mortis...eh, optional. No decay, tho; it's as if it's perfectly preserved. Life indications? No breathing, no heartbeat, but maybe brain activity at some VERY low level? The notion I'm leaning to is, the power's showing itself by NOT letting the body fall apart.
  14. Purchased in, IIRC, 1993 for $170M. Sale price is $1.7B and change. So...yeah, there's a tiny bit of profit there.........
  15. The Orioles are being sold. The 2 principal owners are private equity billionaires. There are minority owners as well, including Cal Ripken...no surprise there. The sale's being staged, apparently, as Peter Angelos, the owner of record, is 94, and not in great health. There are tax concerns; it saves apparently a big chunk if the bulk is sold after Mr. Angelos dies.
  16. Oh my gosh. I'm SO sorry, I truly feel for you.
  17. I had a portable drive that was having issues, and did something pretty stupid...I honestly don't recall what, at this point, it was several years ago. Lost the entire drive. Lost some older, personal stuff, I know. My critical stuff goes onto one of my Google drives now, with the major username/drive mirrored on the PC. I stopped building PCs when I either fried the memory somehow, or it was just plain bad. And for the last several years, there's no real point, at least for me. I don't do hardcore gaming, so integrated graphics is perfectly fine. There's plenty of outfits that put together basic boxes, with options for what I want to include. Yeahhh...that's too much like how I heard the news about my mother. It was 2011...we were caught up in a major freeze, considering how far south we are. SERIOUS issues...the University shut down for 2 or 3 days, we had rolling power to a degree for 3 days. So I was home...trying to finish off a new system build/OS install, that wasn't the brightest of moves during unreliable power, but I got it up eventually. And it was my mother's birthday. Tried to call...several times. Finally heard back...from my *sister*. My mother was in her home, where my sister was providing hospice care...she is a doctor...with help, IIRC, from a hospice caretaker. Yeah...ok...I knew she was dying; I'd made a trip up there a few months before. But I hadn't known it'd gone to that. At all. My mother died the mext weekend...but that, honestly, was mostly an anticlimax. NOT entirely, mind, it never is, but it was clearly inevitable, and that it would be soon. So, I'm glad to hear your father's going to recover. There is no good time to get bad news, but there are bad times, and we can do no more than hope they don't happen.
  18. Trigger: corpse takes damage should be fine...altho, come to think, is it legal overall? Does a dead body *have* powers? If the trigger is "received lethal damage"...then the trigger kicks in when still alive. It's only about to die. But as OP wrote it, the trigger could occur a month later. Oh...oops. Death is at negative 2x BODY...so this power, to work as OP wanted, would need to do pips equal to 6x the BODY score...
  19. I simply don't accept that "uniform" guidelines should apply to all teams. That's pure OCD to me. And, heck, it still doesn't hold with those images. Most have color 1 top, color 2 bottom; then flip to color 2 top, color 1 bottom...but some always have gray bottoms, the Seahawks have blue top/gray pant, then white top, blue bottom.
  20. 1. More duplicates? Buy more. +5 points to double. Eek. I don't like the approach, but this is a trivial workaround if you do. 2. On the Resurrection...mmm, I know it is. I may have mis-thought it a bit. BUT...8d6 probably isn't *close* to enough, which I think CRT emphasized. Healing, N d6 (N will be discussed in a bit), Resurrection (+20 points), 0 END, Resurrection Only (-1/2), Trigger (when struck after being killed), plus maybe the expanded effect, and the "must be hit again" limitation So, what's N? First, the healing must be great enough to take the corpse to 1 BODY...and if this is going to happen all at once, on the trigger, we're talking taking the BODY to full. So, even with just 10 BODY...we're talking 20 BODY, or 40 pips. Hello there, 12d6 minimum, and that's if you don't allow damage past negative BODY. Oh, and...we need Decreased Re-use Duration...a HONKING BIG ONE, if we want it to work as OP suggested. So, we're looking at, what, 140 base points with a +3 1/4 advantage...? +1 1/2 decreased re-use, +1/2 reduced END, + 1/4 trigger, +1 expanded effect. 595 active? 3. Chris was pointing out the qualifier to my statement. You can't recombine with a dead duplicate...so for the duplication approach to work, the duplicate has to be resurrected...at which point, he's not dead, and therefore, recombine's allowed. Mmm...
  21. I loathe making such a conceptually complex mechanism when the rules define a straightforward one. It also, I'm pretty sure, not work, because you can't recombine with a dead duplicate. Multiple duplicates. Buy 16 of em, say. 20 points. You get x2 duplicates for 5 points. To formalize a notion...a compound power. Part 1 is the resurrection aspect, which gets the Resurrection Only limitation. Part 2 is Healing, with a trigger (upon resurrection), LOTS of dice...and 1 charge.
  22. Nugget from SVP right now. Conference season is in full swing, so lots more wild results. Going into the slate tonight, in games where an AP Top 10 team is playing on the road against an unranked team, the Top 10 team was 22-27. This is top 10 vs. unranked...and well under .500. The last 2 years, the top 10 team basically won 3 of 4.
