  1. Oh my, this could be amusing...after Missouri completes the win over Ohio State, SVP's SportCenter is gonna have Russell Wilson talking about his benching. It's too much to ask for juicy nuggets, sure, but hey, don't pop my balloon ahead of time.... EDIT: well...kinda, but not really from Wilson. He called the request to redo his injury guarantee a "low blow" but that's mild, to me. It was Payton's comment that was...rather juicy. He claimed benching Wilson was purely for football reasons...to have the best chance to get win #8. Uhhh.....REALLY? 14 games in total...2 starts. 131 total pass attempts, 6 TDs, 7 picks. And this gives the team a better chance to win? So Wilson was REALLY THAT BAD? That's throwing Russ under the tracks of the tank column.........
  2. Just pulled out...pear custard tart. The custard here is whipping cream, eggs, and a bit of flour. Flavorings added...pureed ginger, cinnamon, vanilla extract, fake sugar. No crust per se; I laid down a layer of slivered almonds. Figure they'll toast somewhat, being on the bottom of the pan. Pears went on top of that, then the custard. I'm too lazy to neatly thin-slice the pears then lay out the slices all nice and pretty, so I just diced em up small. The custard has enough structure to hold things together. PS: it's yummy. The almonds in the center didn't toast...oh well. Some did at the edge.
  3. If we're basing on Dispel, and presuming a wall we're treating...we don't need Barrier, unless you really want to reinforce the wall. The AoE is obviously case-specific, but the basis should be Surface, not Line; it's not projecting out, it's covering the wall...or barrier. "Thickness" is also a nonsensical concept for the dispel. Now...I'm not sure how large an advantage this'll be, as HD and 6E don't really jibe...but by the same token, the 6E language is terribly sloppy. The intent, as far as I can tell, is Surface starts with one, 4 square meter area. Then you can double the total area for +1/4. This fits with It's not a radius at that point, it's a square. HD is doubling the side length...which would give 4x the area...for each +1/4. Radius *does* double the radius itself, ergo increasing the area by a factor of 4, tho, so what HD has may well be sensible so long as you treat the size number as the size of the square, and determine the area from that. (Side^2.) I'm gonna assume that it is the length of the square...so 16m Surface means 256 square meters, which can be shaped to fit. That would cover a 20m x 10m wall. It's +1 at that point. So, we need AoE (set to +1), Constant, 0 END, and I'm gonna assume Persistent...it seems a serious weak point to need to turn this defensive measure on. So, +2 1/4. How large a Dispel? If we go with Standard Effect, then 4 dice would be 12 points, and this is a good place to use it, IMO. Don't want to roll the effect. 4d6 Dispel (standard effect) is 12 points; that --> 39 with the advantages. Limitations...Always On makes sense. I'd be REALLY leery about giving a price break for anything like Extra Time; is this really something you'll use in combat? Doesn't feel like it. Linked? Not if it's being applied to a wall. With just the Always On, it drops to 26, to cover up to 256 square meters. Bigger is cheap, too...we're talking only +3 points to the active cost...+2 to the real cost...for each area doubling.
  4. LOL apparently so, because just now, there was a DeSantis PAC ad attacking Haley on China...... I can laugh now but we know this is gonna get old REAL, REAL fast............ EDIT: side thought. Is Trump going to accept ANYONE who's run against him, this time around? I'm thinking...no, on the basis that running against him will still be viewed by him, as disloyalty. We've got the reports that the #1, #2, #3, and #4 priority for his nominees will be loyalty.
  5. Huh. Semi-curious. Watching Yet Another Bowl Game....zzzzzzzzzzz, for the most part. It's the end of the 3rd, so of course ESPN runs 2-3 times the normal number of commercials. <sigh> One of em was kind of amusing. Picture of a trash fire, then a whole bunch of quotes about DeSantis, his campaign, and the dumpster fire it's been. (Their words.) Paid for by the SFA Fund. I was figuring, huh, probably a Trump fund...???? Nope. Nikki Haley. The surprise is...does Haley really think she needs to blast DeSantis? OK, she and DeSantis are pretty much even, at 2nd/3rd behind Trump, so...if somehow Trump can be tossed off several major ballots, or otherwise disqualified, or have his support collapse due to convictions? Well, maybe it'll matter then. I can't recommend trying to hold your breath until Trump'll be forced out of the election, tho.
  6. Oh, I agree, he'd do a lot of it, but what I'm suggesting is it'll be MUCH more prevalent...even in states where Biden (presumably) wins by a comfortable margin, rather than just a handful of close races. And...hmm. The House can't conduct normal business without a Speaker, but the electoral college function is a mandated one, and is presided over by the President of the Senate...but objections separate everyone back to their normal chambers, so that would seem to imply needing a Speaker. So maybe, just maybe...the alt-right tries a brutal delay, by yanking the chair out from under the Speaker? Given a Biden victory, I suspect the Democrats would vote against a motion to vacate, tho.
  7. There are no defined rules for accessing the space itself. Those are left to GM's discretion...including that it's a full Width x Height entry, which several people can use simultaneously...no advantages required. That's the most generous; the tightest is to say it's a personal space that only you can access...period. Next up would be saying you can apply an advantage similar to Gate, but adapted to the situation of an XD Space. The XD Space is a closed one; the only people who can come out of the gate, are those already inside. This is markedly less of a risk than a standard Gate, where anyone who can see the gate at the destination, can use it to cross back to the source point. Potential nefarious intent is implicit. (Or it's not worth a limitation.)
  8. I like this one too, particularly for, say, an ice wall.
  9. Yeah, this captures the essence of all the non-playoff bowl games... Report is, it was the strawberry Pop Tart.
  10. The Maine Secretary of State rules that Trump does not qualify for the Presidential ballot, due to his role in the Jan. 6th events. Turns out, it's how the Maine law works...it first has to go through the SoS's office, as the chief election officer for the state. This entire election is shaping up to be ugly, in ways that transcend the normal electoral politics. The entire structure of the election is going to be called into question, if Trump doesn't win...he'll assert the whole process was poisoned, if he's not on all the ballots. And in any state if he's excluded? Oh man...nightmare. Alternate selection of electors, election challenges, potentially CONSTANT objection to seating delegates when the time comes to certify the delegates. Absolute chaos.
  11. Mmm...reading it again...yeah, I was thinking it could be closed from the inside. He doesn't say that. But, that's not Always On because it can be stopped. It does mean it's Uncontrolled, as it can be stopped by someone else. So starting from XDM... Constant, AoE, UoO, 0 END (altho, note that Costs END only to activate might also make sense, and is slightly cheaper), Uncontrolled -- +2. So, 60 active. Or 55 active with CEOTA. Then Gate, Restrainable, and OAF is -2. So 20 or 18 points. Hm. OK, so...XD Space. No, it's not in standard HD. I added it, but I have the source code. (You may be able to just edit the template, too, but without at least some programming background, this isn't the easiest thing to do.) Anyway, from APG 2... --base cost is 5 points for a 1 cubic meter space --double the volume for 5 points. 8m x 8m x 2m is 7 doublings. So the base cost is 40 points. I'd also allow tweaking the shape, while respecting the volume. So...7m deep, 6m wide, 3m high. That's 126 cubic meters. The rest becomes GM's choice. The power leaves things open. It can be like opening the door to a self-storage unit...so the opening is the full 8x2 (or 6x3) meters. Here...with the desired SFX? OK, so it's perhaps a 1m radius, with the top of the ladder peeking out. XD Spaces are Persistent, so there's no problem there, and Uncontrolled isn't needed. It's up to the GM if UoO is required...and what form. APG 2 even says it's up to the GM if someone can be trapped inside the space: At that point, it's not a custom power, it's determining how to use this power. Surviving...having it be a mini-base...I might do that for free. Free ingress/egress, so long as the access point is open...I'd probably allow that for free. But the ability to trap people inside against their will...for free? If used against others, it's an advantage, but the writeup says it can also be used against the user, which becomes a serious limitation. Perhaps they just offset each other...just leave it as OAF. Side point...if anyone can simply a) close the bag, then b) walk off with it and do...whatever the heck they want ....I gotta ask...who would make something like this, as something they WANT to use, for storage/quasi-base??? You'd be FAR too vulnerable any time you're inside. At this point, heck, it's a genie bottle...a potential eternal prison.
  12. How about Barrier, 1 PD, with Opaque to Normal Touch? Rationale being, if you can't touch the surface, you can't cling to it.
  13. No, that's not what OP said. The bag can be closed to deny the access. So it's exactly what OP wants.
  14. Oh man, is Cancer claying around again?
  15. Hugh: It's not Always On. The limitation for that 2-way passage is simply called Gate. Does it need the Uncontrolled? Also, for convenience, I use a +1/2 advantage for Gates...that encompasses the AoE, Constant, UoO, and the 2-way passage limitation. It works out mostly the same overall, assuming you don't want a larger opening. If you want the space to be considered a Base...you can. The Base Location becomes Another Dimension, the size is either 0 or 1 as described. The entry point becomes the item here. Base itself is a perk, but it does allow Focus; IAF sounds right. Not that it'll matter much; the base aspect will be dirt cheap. Note that as ExtraDim Space... a) it'll cost a great deal to have that much space. b) in general, the space itself isn't mobile. It's connected to something...you, as a spell or power, or the focus. THAT can be mobile. But entry/egress is through the fixed point. c) points like whether others can go in/out through the opening, or can remain in the space when the opening is closed...those aren't addressed. I believe the power's intended to replace, as you say, bags of holding, which were written up as extra-dimensional stretching, IIRC. That structure makes it clear that it's *you* accessing the space...no one else can. You could apply a UoO on the extra-dim space, but ExtraDim Movement to a specified dimension is, to me, the much more natural approach, and leave ExtraDim Space as the narrower aspect.
  16. God gosh Mr. P, are you in hot water AGAIN?????
  17. Just saw the report myself, that they were benching him. The Athletic also had a story yesterday, that they might let him go. The financial details are...interesting, as always seems to be the case with NFL contracts. I figure the Broncos are just perfectly happy the Texans signed Jackson...and won't mind *at all* if they have to eat salary on Wilson, *if* they can mitigate the cap hit. Wilson isn't *close* to playing to the level of his contract, and nothing I've seen suggests he's going to miraculously reach that point. So...yeah, however they need to do it procedurally to minimize the damage, Wilson's likely done in Denver. Someone will probably sign him, but on a SERIOUSLY smaller contract...you'd think. But this is the NFL and the most common color of glass is rose. Playoff clinching scenarios...this one's amusing to me...study this, there'll be a quiz on Friday.... Buffalo clinches playoff berth with: BUF win + PIT loss or tie + CIN loss or tie OR BUF win + PIT loss or tie + JAX loss or tie OR BUF win + PIT loss or tie + HOU loss or tie + IND loss or tie OR BUF win + CIN loss or tie + JAX loss or tie OR BUF win + CIN loss or tie + HOU loss or tie + IND loss or tie OR BUF tie + PIT loss + CIN loss + JAX loss OR BUF tie + PIT loss + CIN loss + HOU loss or tie OR BUF tie + PIT loss + CIN loss + IND loss or tie OR BUF tie + PIT loss + JAX loss + HOU loss or tie OR BUF tie + PIT loss + JAX loss + IND loss or tie OR BUF tie + PIT loss + HOU loss + IND loss OR BUF tie + CIN loss + JAX loss + HOU loss or tie OR BUF tie + CIN loss + JAX loss + IND loss or tie OR BUF tie + CIN loss + HOU loss + IND loss
  18. Kansas is up 28-10 against UNLV, but I would *NOT* want to be a fly on the wall in the KU locker room...the paint's gonna get scraped off. Why? In one half...KU has 10 penalties for 140 (!!) yards...and remember, in college, pass interference is not a spot foul. I don't believe any single flag can be *more than* 15 yards. 5 personal fouls in there, too. SLOPPY and undisciplined. The bowl game before this wasn't any better. ServPRO Bowl...Texas State won easily, helped by a pair of pick-6's...but they had 11 flags for 129. And there was at least one case of offsetting personal fouls. The analyst on this last game of the night is really poor...and the game's not much good either. Think I'll pour myself a splash of Maker's 46 and go read....
  19. Jackson is also 35 and a free agent. The Broncos brought a replacement on while he was suspended, so a cut was going to be necessary. Given the age, the status...this most likely was the LEAST painful approach. Especially when you combine it with the suspensions, and let's not ignore the yardage his flags have cost. As that story pointed out, his career may well be over.
  20. Determining approximate age of ink Is a chemical analysis, using a comparison against the composition of inks from different eras. For example, if the sample ink is colored with specific aniline dyes that were only developed in the 20th century (many of em)...it can't have been used on a bottle purported to be from 1850. But, this is also destructive testing; you need to remove a physical sample of the ink. It may be ok on a label; it would tend to be more problematic on a document or exceedingly rare text. Bringing the bottle forward won't change the composition of the label ink, so it will pass this test.
  21. Ummm..........anyone seen Grandma since last night....?
  22. Gooooood googly moogly, the Christmas Spirit is STRONG today. I must say, I can't recall ever seeing a kickoff return quite like the one the Eagles opened the second half with.........
  23. Q: What've you got against Mario Lemieux??? A: Triple shot, double chocolate, heavy cream, and extra cinnamon...
  24. 1. ........................what just happened........................... If the Bronco loss was unforgivable, this game was unimaginable..... 2. If Mark Davis doesn't make Antonio Pierce the permanent head coach...it might be considered a distraction right now, but SOON after the season is over...he's an even bigger idiot than we thought. Which would be saying a WHOLE!!!!! lot....
  25. Where does Santa stow his carry-on bags?
