  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... It just seemed amusing.
  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I don't think that's quite what he meant, but nods to a fellow fur-fan, Major. Again, back on topis, let's begin with a little context. My brother is running a Champions game on Yahoo Groups, and there are two players currently active, me (playing "Reinard," think Batman or Daredevil as a cartoon fox) and someone whose name will not be posted for a lack of permission (he plays "Sentinel", a Silver Age superman-type who is also a WWII veteran.) Well, lately, there have been some mysterious disappearances and Sentinel and Reinard have gotten to communicate with an overworked commissioner (or whatever rank) concerning these vanishing of women of the evening. Reinard has heard that there may be someone killing these women, and the commissioner thinks that maybe these ladies are dissappearing on their own choice, trying to stay hidden. Then Sentinel, true blue hero that he is, has this lovely statement: "Lieutenant, I know your Department is very busy, and I appreciate that you've taken this time to see us... but every Human Life is worthwhile, no matter how foolishly someone makes their decisions! Yes, some of these 'Ladies of the Evening' disappear because they choose to... but that same habit also makes them easy prey for those who have need of certain victims... whether for Human Slavery, Medical Experimentation... or worse!", The Sentinel declares. "Would you really care to just shrug these disappearances off, only to have these women return as Cyborged Ninja, or some such? It's happened before, I'm afraid..." Emphasis is mine.
  3. Re: Phrasing a Psych Lim Which, I might add, is far more noble than "Roger: The Stan Lee Experience" Syndrome. (sorry. I had to pitch in a gratuitous X-Play reference)
  4. Re: Altered Reality (making yourself) I'd give myself -20 base points, like an incompetent normal. But then, I have Depression issues.
  5. Re: WWYCD: Chibi Champions Their height is halved again and they get the chibi physics.
  6. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Cue "Taps"...
  7. Re: WWYCD: Chibi Champions I must confess that the ideas for this thread has a long and strange story. Last night, My brother and I were watching the animated Iron Man movie, and jason commented on the "cheapie suit." I misheard and asked, "Chibi suit?" He explained that the "Cheapie Suit" was the one made on the fly. And then, just on a muse, I did a tiny sketch of a Chibi Iron Man. And then I got the idea of something that could ALMOST make up for Civil War: Chibi Marvels...
  8. Re: Back With BEACONS Oh, by the way. If I don't get any information on what more you'll need to know by the end of the week, I will make the assumption that I have sufficient information to fully light the Beacons and get the game started on Hero Central. However, if you do provide some information on what you need to know, then I will most likely put through another delay to give you the data (assuming your questions cannot be answered easily enough in this forum thread). The delay will be an effort to make the campaign better.
  9. Re: Back With BEACONS I definitely want to avoid the "Angst Wars," as I like to call them. And I have seen some pretty ridiculous tragedies concocted by some of the emo-kids. Player 1: Asrial was r*ped by daddy. Player 2: Lilith was r*ped by daddy, big bro, little bro, and little puppy Fufu, too. Player 1: Dude, the puppy part... that's either truly stupid or TMI. Player 3: I dunno, I'm gonna have to come up with something more tragic. Hard to do when still drunk from last month's booze binge. So, for those interested, no angst wars. please, no angst wars at all. NOTE: The preceding was not a true story, but some of the tragic one-upsmanship ended being tragic and became downright funny. This was just a less funny, more stereotypical, example. EDIT-- And actually, the beacons are not fully lit yet. I am interested in knowing what else players may feel they need to know.
  10. Re: WWYCD: Chibi Champions Anime Physics.
  11. Re: Back With BEACONS Thank you for the PDF, and for the kind words.
  12. While fighting Mechanon, it becomes too late as latest his destructive device is finally unleashed upon the world... But the world was not destroyed by it as the vile machine has planned. But the people have indeed been changed. Now the proportions are all off. Everyone stands 3 feet tall, two feet being the body and the third foot is the head. They have huge eyes, are all cute, and look entirely like super-deformed anime characters. This includes your team and Mechanon, too. What does your character make of this situation and how would s/he deal with it? And if you have the artistic talent, feel free to provide a picture of your chibi champion.
  13. Re: Novice Supervillian disadvantage
  14. A long time back, in late october of 2006, I pitched an idea for a Champions campaign centered around monstrous characters protecting humanity from those who prey upon it. Well, I have some things written down for those who are interested. The file will be included with this post. Please feel free to tell me what you think of it. Uhm... Correction: There seems to be an error on the page for attaching things. so I'm going to give you another way to it. Here's the link. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it into a PDF. http://www.geocities.com/ben_ruffles/Gaming/BEACONS.doc I reccomend saving it and printing it off so you can read it at your own leisure.
  15. Re: Captain Carrot returns! I'll stick to my collection, thank you very much.
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... And they couldn't leave well enough alone with just one.
  17. Re: Classic Marvel Superheroes RPG I'll admit to having loved that game.
  18. Re: matchmaker for masks? My Super Hero Lover is Kitty Pryde 69.4% Match Tough, smart, and caring, Kitty is loyal through and through. She will let her hair down and show you how to party. Just don't do her wrong or she'll use her ninja-moves on you. Other Close Matches: Lois Lane (62.2%) Araña (61%)
  19. Re: Civil War in the Champions Universe! The "taste" issue wasn't about Millar. We all know he sucks. I think it was about someone else's work on the Titans; a sidetrack. Sorry about the confusion. Point 1: If this guy, as ham-handed as he is, really thought Marvel was a supporter of fascism, I think Stan Lee would have found out by now and fired Millar. Of course, I am probably confused about what you are saying. If so, I am sorry. Point 2: I'm glad not to play MMORPGs if that's what City of Heroes is really like. I suspect that's because the target audience of most comics has shifted from dewy-eyed little kids to bitter emo-kids, who then became the writers. No, I am not defending Millar, I am simply saying that people today seem to want to go away from the fans and target joe schmoe, like Nontendo seeks to do with the Wii. The difference is, while the Wii innovates towards the concept of fun, Marvel is just making things bleak because they think the average person is all Emo.
  20. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank) I'd leave that one to Steve Long himself.
  21. Re: Civil War in the Champions Universe! Precisely. I personally do not read many comics, preferring graphic novels as they tend to be easier to get into (though I am starting to get into Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics). So I don't know the various artists and writers aside from what I hear, which varies from person to person. Okay, I guess that was a rather unneccesary (sp??) way of saying that I agree with Enforcer on the "tastes differ" thing.
  22. Re: Civil War in the Champions Universe!
  23. Re: [build Challenge] Kid Emo (Supervillain) Wow. A full character build... Impressive. Though I must say to everyone, you're doing good.
  24. Re: [build Challenge] Kid Emo (Supervillain) Care Bares would certainly creep me out... Are you sure you don't mean "Care Bears?"
