  1. Re: Your "2006" Pet Gaming Projects I will be working on converting Stargate SG-1 over to HERO, revised package deals (pointing to packages from the various Hero books), adding alien races, gear, ships, etc. This might include a quick trip to the looney bin. I've touched on a Pulp version of Stargate, based on an SG-1 episode involving 1945 era research. If I'm successful, I'll add Stargate Atlantis to that project. Wish me luck. Jak
  2. Re: THRILLING PLACES -- What Do *You* Want To See? I would like to see an honorable mention for SKJAM! for all his "nifty" flavor locations. Noted, they aren't full of action, but they're a good starting or jumping point to new adventures. Maybe a section of the book for flavor locations, to give GMs resources to use in their campaigns. Heck, I'd even like to see them published. For those of you who are not familiar with SKJAM!s stuff, take a look at these threads: Der Schnitzlehaus Marsh's Drug Store Widder Jones' Boarding House Trail Service Heh heh *plug* *plug* Jak
  3. Re: Pulp Hero Resources I can't help but love Zeppelins... I don't know why. Maybe because they remind me of submarines of the sky. Well, as I was browsing RPGNow.com, I came across this Thrilling Adventures module, which has three adventures, one with zeppelins. They say it comes with detailed plans of four zeppelins. I'm still kinda hesitant to buy it, since it's mostly for d20 Modern. Mayb ein the next day or so... From RPGNow: THRILLING TALES: Zeppelin Adventures Later, Jak
  4. Re: Pulp Hero Resources I know this is a models company, but they've got some good pics of vintage aircraft, both military and private sector. Navigate on the left to MILITARY PLANES or PRIVATE PLANES or AIRLINERS to the right and get timeline links... Aviation Central The largest selection of aircraft models. Jak
  5. Hey Steve, Will we see a Pulp Map Archive in the near future? I think a map archive with some train and plane (DC-3?), tomb, zepplin and maybe even some sub maps would be really cool. I'd buy that for a dollar! Jak
  6. Hey Herophiles, I'm running a slightly-in-the-future, down-to-earth, semi-gritty 300pt superhero campaign, and I need some help on a storyline. The players are the third generation of superhumans that were created by a secret government org. So far all the storylines have been pretty "X-Files"-ish, but I've got a snag on a storyline, and need to come up with some reasoning. In one adventure, one of the players finds out that his father is one of the scientists behind the results produced by the secret gov org. He needs to find out more about his family, so he travels to Montana, where there is an abandoned secret base, and a cemetary where some of his family are buried, namely his older brother. But, when the players arrive at the cemetary where the brother is buried, they encounter a Buffy/Scooby group that seems to be investigating something. They stop and chat for a moment, and then proceed into the cemetary. Before they arrive at the grave site, they encounter a small pack of werewolves searching the graveyard. When they stand-off, and questions are asked, they werewolves tell the players that they aren't looking for a fight, they're already at war (later in the adventure, they find out from the Scooby gang that the werewolves are at war with the vampires, and that they werewolves were searching the graveyard for a particularly influential/powerful vampire, and assassinate him). Needless to say, this set the players on edge. And I draw a blank... Why are the Werewolves and Vampires at war? Any ideas would be great. Jak:help:
  7. Re: Pulp orgs/seeds If the villains are going to dress up in Romanesque attire while pulling capers, you can add some nice flavor there. If they all wear masks, leader types should wear short capes (over their suits, etc) to acknowledge their status. Also, give them all a signature weapon, such as a dagger in the shape of a Roman gladius. And then you can add small touches, such as they all wear bullet resistant (not bulletproof) breastplates under their suit coats that are fashioned in the Roman style, and have Roman vambraces and shinguards in the style of Roman soldiers. Hope that helps. Jak
  8. Hey all, Jak here. I came across this new game from WizKids that has all the makings of Pulp Space Hero... And I knew it had to be posted here. When you go to the site, you should check out the episodes... they're high-larious! Welcome to Rocketmen, the newest Constructible Strategy Game from WizKids! Earth has been overrun by the evil Legion of Terra, and it’s up to the Alliance between Earth’s rebels, the Mercurians, and the Venusians to stop Terra’s and Mars’ Axis of Evil. Pulp Science

Re: Pulp Science OOOOOOO!!! Scans? Pictures? Jak
  11. Re: (location) Marsh's Drug Store I love your locations, SKJAM! You should make up four or five of them and put out a PDF. You don't have to sell it if you don't want to, but they would provide some lovely Pulp locations for any game. Jak
  12. Re: Mount Rushmore Every time I think of Mount Rushmore, it brings back fond memories of North by Northwest. And every Looney Tunes cartoon that made fun of the monument... Nice find. Jak
  13. Re: Egyptian Tomb And Necropolis Maps! More links... who'da thunk? Egypt: Lands of Eternity http://members.tripod.com/~ib205/book.html There are a lot of tomb maps here. Also, there's information on burial rites, Books of the Dead and mythology stuff.. Jak
  14. Re: Egyptian Tomb And Necropolis Maps! I love posting links... Just give me a topic, and I'll drop some links on you... A Brief History of Ancient Egyptian Tombs by Samir Farid and Hany Farid http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~farid/egypt/tombhistory/ an essay with lots of pics, which is part of this essay page Reconstructing Ancient Egyptian Tombs and Monuments http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~farid/egypt/reconstruction.html Jak

  16. Re: Pulp Hero Resources This is what I was looking for all along! Great find! Yes, Great Find! Jak
  17. Re: (location) Trail Service Oooo! Oooo! Ideas forming... I can see the Trail Service set in a location that is near a particularly spooky national park (such as Yellowstone, or any other National Park for that matter), with Rangers popping in from time to time for a bite to eat, some gasoline, or to fix a broken vehicle. Re-Occuring Character Harrold "Harry" Cross: A local park ranger. Even though he was rejected by the military (which doesn't gain him any credit with the local vets), Harry has quite the soldier build for a man in his late 30s. His appearance is fairly neat for a bachelor, but you can tell that he's never been married. He has closely cut blonde hair, blue eyes, and a baby face. Harry stops in the Trail Service cafe whenever he gets a chance. It gives him a chance to get away from work and relax a while, away from his bosses, who don't see him as much of a help either. Problem is, no one seems to believe the stories Harry tells, the odd lights at night, the strange humanoid creatures that venture out of the caves at the base of the river, the underground worms that can eat bears. Campaign Use: Whenever the player characters need a guide into the local park, Harry is always there to offer his services. It gives him a chance to get away from all the harrassment. Harry can be used as a vehicle for hooking the heroes into an exploration adventure. Little does everyone at the Trail Service know, but Harry knows the location of the cave entrance to Inner Earth. 18. This was posted in the "Non-gaming Discussion" forum, and I wondered to myself, "Why the heck isn't this page listed in the Pulp Hero section?" So, here he is, Master of Tesla Coils... Doctor MegaVolt!!! Can you say, "Crazy Harry plays with electricity!" ??? Jak
  19. Re: (location) Trail Service Freakin' Sweet! Excuse my French. I've been hanging out with sailors... I can see a Location Resource for the Pulp Hero web area... I love the characters and the location. Well done! Jak
  20. Re: Pulp Hero Resources And, for that matter, here is the US National Archives. United States National Archives http://www.archives.gov There's some pretty nice WWII pictures that can be used by pulpsters... Here's a nice pic anyone can use for a character (from the WWII pics select list section): 102. An American officer and a French partisan crouch behind an auto during a street fight in a French city, ca. 1944. 111-SC-217401. (ww2_102.jpg) ... and a good pic of a black female riveter 21. Pulp Science

Re: Pulp Science Here's a diagram from the British National Archives about information they had received detailing the Germans had a plan to sneak "exploding chocolate bars" into allied countries. Here's some James Bond for you... German Exploding Chocolate Bar Jak
  22. Re: Pulp Hero Resources You know, you never know what you're going to find until you start surfing around... The British National Archives http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ There's an archive of Public Information Films from 1945-1951 in there that's really interesting. A lot of interest in germs and defending the country after the war. Jak

    Jonny Quest

Re: Jonny Quest Well, I will say one thing for the revamped show. There were some pretty good pulp style villains... Jeremiah Surd, Ezekiel Rage, Dr. Zin and the Zin twins... The computer geek in me dismissed much of the computer VR world stuff, but I liked the rest of what I saw... even though there was a lot less gunfire, and "heathen monkey savages"... jak
  24. Re: (Location) Widder Jones' Boarding House I agree with the rest of them... great resource idea! It has a very Pulp feel. With the "Widder" pronounciation, it gives me the Mayberry/Andy Griffith feel. At least, a resource that could exist in the South, or at least Virginia/the Carolinas. Any more potential boarders? Nice job! Jak
