  1. I have a feeling that the big organizations (PRIMUS, UNTIL, etc) have very definite plans for development, and DOJ is probably not looking to give those out to a freelancer, or at least someone who does not have prior experience with the organization in question. I would not mind seeing some stats for the non-US superheroes, but I get the feeling that due to the continuity issues (many of the superhero groups in CU are inter-related) DOJ would rather slowly develop the 10 US superhero groups on their own. Have you downloaded the CU Superheroes pdf? That lists most of the known superheroes (I left two off, and there are now more added from MC) and could give you an idea as to just how dense the CU already is with heroes. Danger, Inc does not sound like a bad idea, and I would not mind seeing that as an Organization Book, but I would still want it to fit properly within the CU continuity. I think the Plug & Play aspect of Champions is not going to be used anymore. Everything published needs to fit within the world's continuity. To be completely honest with you, I would much rather see someone write-up some new villain groups (the five we currently have are really not enough) in a Menaces, Alliances & Cartels supplement then I would seeing 40 new heroes that I have never heard of before, which I then have to try and fit into my continuity. I am not trying to dissuade you in any fashion. I am just stating my opinions. No matter what you propose, I wish you luck on it, and I will probably buy it too.
  2. Here are some of the running plotlines in my game: Temporal Cube The primary purpose for the group’s existence, and what brought them all together, deals with the group’s need to recover the pieces for the Temporal Cube. There are 6 pieces in total and each piece is being held by a different supervillain (Albert Zerstoiten, Alejandro Medina, Danar Nicole, Tempus Carlson, Frederick Foswell, and Gerald Byrne). If the pieces are not recovered before the team’s benefactor dies a temporal paradox will occur that will destroy the entire universe. True Horror My primary sub-plot deals with the Monster. I use the Monster as a condemned soul who has been trapped by Takofanes and forced into doing the Undying Lord’s wishes. The Monster must kill 99 people in a specific order for Takofanes to get his freedom; and it is not know if this is a good or bad thing. Each of these people holds a piece of the soul of Sh’ayre Menshyrak, Takofanes’ jailer. Takofanes seeks revenge on Sh’ayre Menshyrak and wishes to recombine the soul and torment it for millennia as he was tormented by his imprisonment. Mole Mountain My second sub-plot deals with the IHA and its secret base which manufactures Minuteman robots. One of the players in the game is a mutant, and he is an activist within the mutant community. The character has spent years trying to bring the veiled world of the mutant hunters into the public’s consciousness. The group has slowly been getting clues and pieces as to where the base is. The Children of Islam My final sub-plot deals with the players finding and stopping the Children before they can cause any more terrorist acts or take any more American lives. The Children are currently performing one major terrorist act per month in the game; though none as large as the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Fear is the Children’s primary goal overall. This is not a major plot-point in the game, but it does help to underlie the situation in Afghanistan and what is going on with the Government in the Middle East. There is also plenty of random supervillain violence, thefts, and robberies to keep the game from getting too plot heavy. Each game session adds another piece to the puzzle as the heroes grow in power, waiting for their ultimate confrontation with Dr. Destroyer.
  3. Re: Re: Re: Lemme tell you a story... Is that the male Dove, or the female Dove you are talking about there?
  4. Re: Lemme tell you a story... Gaming forums everywhere consist of a "bunch of geeks bantering", it's not just here. And just so you know, we do not just argue about whether Cap can beat Bats, we also argue about whether or not Supes can be Thor.
  5. You might want to check out Storn Cook's website. He has several of his pictures posted to his gallery. No scanning or coloring required.
  6. In my campaign the Afghanistan war is currently going on, but most of the heroes are busy fighting the terrorist group The Children of Islam who were sent by Osama to reak the havok in the US. TCoS is responsible for the toppeling of the Twin Towers and the attack on the Pentagon. My campaign does use a new Ameriforce One group, and the heroes with contacts and KS: The Superhero World will hear something about what that team is doing in a Gulf War. But I really have no intention of getting the heroes involved in the war itself; they are too busy fighting groups like TCoS.
  7. Personally, I just give XPs to each of the forms separately. If the Hulk does something to earn 3 XP, he gets 3 XP. If Banner does something to earn 3 XP, he gets 3 XP. After the original creation I just let each character develope on their own. The fact that the Hulk might get 20 point more powerful without Banner paying 4 points really is not an issue to me.
  8. You might want to try out the following site: http://www.geocities.com/markdoc.geo/Gaming_stuff/Grimoire/the_ultimate_grimoire.htm You can use the index on the website or download a word of pdf version of the spells. I don't know the actual number of spells there, but I would guess there are over 1,000.
  9. Too late. We lost another one.
  10. If anyone has not gotten their votes in yet, today is the last day to vote for either Kinetik or Slipstream; assuming it's not already too late.
  11. Check out the Create Vampire Spell in FREd on page 143. That can easily be duplicated for lesser undead by just changing the point totals and increasing the number of creatures.
  12. I would not mind seeing some information and expansion on horror and fear. The fantasy genre, more than almost any other genre, seems to constantly have encounters with eerie and horrific creatures (undead, monsterous beings, demons, etc). A few paragraphs expanding on ways to properly use fear and terror with the game (modifiers to PRE, expanded PRE charts, etc) could be very informative and useful.
  13. Is there really anything in the HERO System that is more than a guideline? It seems like every power has a "GM is allowed to change it if they want to" attachment added to in the game.
  14. I think you will probably not see to much specifics on things like that until the Ultimate Armor comes out. You will probably just get the general overviews similar to the ones in 4th Edition FH.
  15. It's too bad Ben cannot add a 1/4, 1/2, & 3/4 symbol to the boards that you can choose. That way we can post these things without the firghtening issues.
  16. I do not think that is the case. I believe travel time is fairly important to the genre. Do you know how fast a horse caravan travels? Do you have any idea how STR effects a horse differently if it is pulling a wagon or if someone is riding its back? I know I have no idea to the answers of those things, but I do know that many PC adventures seem to revolve around being caravan guards, or having to get somewhere on a tired or injured horse. Those things are very much a part of the fantasy genre and there should be some guidelines in the book to cover it, IMO.
  17. I run an occasional game titled: Seal Team 1. The game is really only designed to be played for a specific mission (2-3 sessions) but it is always a lot of fun. The problem with "real life" adventures is that characters can die fairly quickly. One lucky hit to the head and it's bye-bye Sgt Rock. Because you are making them the way you want them, HERO System characters can take a long time to make, so when the character gets killed by a lucky shot within the first hour the game the players can become discouraged. Personally I think realistic styles of games are either better for convention games, where the player does not really care if the character gets killed, or better for systems like d20 where as much effort is not put into the character creation; and thus it is easier to build a new character as each is killed off. I am not exactly looking forward to a new Danger International. Personally I do not think there is enough demand in the market for those styles of games any longer. I think it would be better for Hero Games to focus its efforts into a Super Agents game. I think the mixing of normal and superhuman has a greater uniqueness and a larger interest for most gamers.
  18. As with what Jhamin said, it's really just a SFX of a larger bullet. For example: • .357 Magnum shell: 11/2d6 RKA • Armor Piercing .357 Magnum shell: 11/2d6 AP RKA • Armor Piercing Explosive .357 Magnum shell: 21/2d6 AP RKA The fact that the bullet pierces the armor and then does so much more damage than an average bullet is the explosive effect.
  19. Re: Wish list The Fantasy Hero Grimoire: If there's one thing a fantasy game needs more than anything else, it's spells - magic is one of the major defining elements of the genre. While the HERO System provides gamers with the unfettered flexibility to create any type of spell or magical power they desire, sometimes they don't have the time or desire to do all the work themselves. The Fantasy Hero Grimoire satisfies their needs by providing hundreds of pre-built spells for wizards and other spellcasting characters. Release Date: September 2003 Monsters, Minions, And Marauders: What's a fantasy game without monsters and enemies to fight? Monsters, Minions, And Marauders is an enemies book for Fantasy Hero. It features not only common "generic" monsters (such as orcs, ogres, giants, and trolls), but a generous selection of named adversaries from the Turakian Age setting. Release Date: October 2003
  20. These are covered in the Bestiary (diseases: 22-23, venom: 28-30, 178-180) . They might help you some. You can expand upon them for your own game just from the examples given.
  21. I think both of these are good points. How many miles a rider can go on a horse before it becomes exhausted is a big issue, as well as travel times of the various types of caravans (horse, camel, elephant, exotic such as griffon)? A big issue to me would be how encumbrance effects the animal and it's traveling speed. I would also like to see some discussion about creating magic items as far as who pays the experience points for the items (does the mage use his XPs to make magic items to sell?). That seems to come up quite a bit on the message boards and in the forum.
  22. I am fairly certain that a Skill Level/Combat Level can only be used once per Phase. But this time if you want proof look it up in the FAQ yourself.
  23. You are about 2,000 ahead of me then. I only steal pics from RPG sites that I can use for my player's characters and villains. I do not have too many comic book characters in the collect.
  24. It is not the link. It just the fact that the site is temporarily down. It will probably be back up shortly.
