Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase Three and BEYOOOOONND
Hermit replied to Bazza's topic in Non-Gaming Discussion
I'm not the biggest Adam Driver fan, but I think that was because the Star Wars offerings he was involved in were a HUGE let down for me. I actually thought he did pretty well in Logan Lucky so I'm going to tell myself it was the script not the actor. He could look the part of Reed at least. Margot Robbie should be fine, again with the right script. She's versatile. I don't know Paul Mescal so cant' even say. I adore Daveed Diggs , fun performer. He's not who I picture as Ben Grimm for the voice but the guy is talented as hell. However, I SURE hope they pull a Sammy Davis Jr. And make him Jewish anyway. Lawnmower Boy said it more eloquently than I why. That said it wouldn't be a movie breaker for me if these folks were confirmed. According to that article none of this is confirmed as official. It's possible things could be swapped around. -
June 2023 Superdraft: Get Your Ship Together

I choose to believe he's not dead, he's still in line trying to file a formal complaint

"There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now. ... What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh, for heaven’s sake, mankind, it’s only four light years away, you know. I’m sorry, but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that’s your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams."

Oh right, I need a title! Going All In with Hearts

Sorry, my last pick is a bit late. We need ambiance, we need a vegas style locale that can be different enough supers seem almost normal... and a place with some colorful characters to greet and serenade you works even better... Option #3: Vic's Place (From DS9, now in Vegas)

DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
Hermit replied to Cassandra's topic in Non-Gaming Discussion
Oh, I definitely don't think it is going to extend for the sake of 'small players' as you point out. But for big corporations? I think they'll keep it around as long as they can or even extend it in a 'rules for thee not me' way. -

I don't know about that last part. Historically, corporations have done their level best to extend copyrights via congress far beyond what was ever intended. But I should keep my full thoughts there to the political thread I suppose. I certainly hope the duration of copyright are vastly reduced from what they are now but I know not all agree -

IMO the best way HISHE ended guys could handle that (if it happened) would be to milk it joyously. It could end up being almost free advertising for them. Just show that very clip from the movie, then 'pan out' to the HISHE Superman and Batman gaping with a "Whhaaaat?" and then either going "Best movie ever!" or "Yeah, like THAT would happen" -

So who better to complete another couple than... Option Pick #2: Titania (Mary MacPherran) Absorbing Man and she will be the unwilling brawn to Queen Bee and Screenslaver's brains and tech... but the two masterminds may yet find the power couple in question are far less forgiving than their heroic counterparts

Which Hogwarts House Is Your Favorite Star Trek Character In?
Hermit replied to Pariah's topic in Non-Gaming Discussion
I'd buy this. Like anyone else , what he favored would be taken into account, but he would do well in Slytherin I can't decide if Garak is Slytherin, or the most ruthless Ravenclaw in the class -
I have three options... two due as of today. Well, I could use an archer, of course. This will help prevent suckage. Of course I can't use my own list...sorry, Oliver. I could also use a psychic because hey, we got mind controlling villains. And, you know, someone with leadership skills might be useful! Which to pick, which to pick... oh wait... how about someone who is all three? And with Asgardian ties on top of it! Option Pick #1: Danielle Moonstar!

Which Hogwarts House Is Your Favorite Star Trek Character In?

You know, Will Riker might fit into more than one, but I'm actually going to suggest he was first sorted into Hufflepuff. I remember this quote where he confesses "I was seven months out of the Academy, my head still ringing with words like duty and honor". And he waited a long time before climbing the ladder to captain himself, Patience is another Hufflepuff trait -
Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase Three and BEYOOOOONND
Hermit replied to Bazza's topic in Non-Gaming Discussion
Okay, saw Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 last night. At times, the High Evolutionary was a petulant man child, but you know what? That worked for me! And it was great to see a villain that was rotten to the core as opposed to 'they're just misunderstood' that , while it can be well done, I sometimes DO get a bit tired of the 'see the villain is a good guy from another point of view' push writers often love because it's almost overdone imo. One thing I absolutely loved in this ? Star Lord is COMPETENT! Yes, he's still funny, but too often in the MCU he's been portrayed as this idiot butt monkey instead of the fast on his feet sneaky guile hero who yeah, can be a bit dorky , in Vol 1. Well, that character is back, and in a big way. Yes, he's a wreck over his losses, but he's also got brain cells and heart. As for Rocket? We've all got dead people, and in this, we learn who Rocket's 'Dead People' are. While every character gets a moment, and some development... this is definitely Rocket's story overall. Oh, and perhaps the biggest spoiler of the movie.... Cosmo is a good dog! -
Odo always had trouble with noses

Today's pick: The Absorbing Man

Weekend Pick: Invincible

Shang-Chi knows... he's so bad ass he orders that dragon to follow him around and act as his background image.. and the dragon is too scared of him to say no!

When one is to face the machinations of not one, but two women with the power to bend thousands to their will, it helps if the twin sisters of Fate and Chance are so kind as to offer up a man of particular focus with a chance of resisting both. From the seed of evil, a righteous tree may yet spring if it keeps reaching towards the heights of light; though such a man is rare. Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu.. is that man. Today's Pick: Shang-Chi
