  1. I know what you're trying to say, but I find that whole event so very out of character for SO many heroes that I pretty much consider it more of a mark against Marvel than I do the heroes involved. I think a better example from New Warrior's History would be when Vance Astrovik killed his abusive father with telekinsis. His defense team pleaded self defense. The prosecution claimed he had precise control and could have taken the man down without killing him. He was tried and found guilty though not of FIRST degree murder (IIRC) and...served his time. He came out with renewed purpose and a new name "Justice".
  2. This. There are, as much as we hate to admit it, innocent people that are wrongfully accused (and sometimes even go to jail) in this world. John Adams once said something akin to the idea that it was better than ten guilty men go free than one innocent man be punished. That being the case, I much prefer Superman's approach to Punisher's.
  3. Oops. I neglected to list that. Let's make it five
  4. "... I always found it very relaxing"
  5. They could try. Funny thing, in the comic books and sometimes in the RPGs, the Super team have experts that make the techies in the government look like cavemen by comparision. I've played on teams where if some govt stooge tried to 'hack' our comlines, they'd end up getting fed all sorts of fun misinformation while we snickered
  6. Are you looking for ideas for one, Jmoz?
  7. Yeah, the angst factor plays a big part in that... everything from grimdark to just plain silly "I kill everyone I touch! NOoo!" to "I can fart soap bubbles? is that even a power?"
  8. Oh, sorry, I think that its new concept time: Not sure if we've done this one but... The H.B.F.- stands for "Heroes Best Friends", each member is a pet, often with powers or abilities of their own, of some superhero. While their heroes are out saving the world often without them, these sidekick critters have adventures of their own, though sometimes its less about crime fighting and more about working together to snitch some food from a supervillain's larders
  9. Joe Terminus holds the power of the Roman God Terminus who some saw as not even a full god, but merely an aspect of Jupiter. That wasn't truly the case back in the day, but Joe will be the first to say that the little guy gets incorporated by the big guys all the time. With his mystic power over boundary markers being of seemingly limited use, Joe carries around a stop sign that he swings as a club that stops anyone it hits in his tracks, and with it (Or other signs) he can create powerful barriers of force (Some are invisible except for very vague dash marks), or force folks to comply as the sign dictates (The time he averted a missile with a 'right turn only' sign is still the stuff of legends!).
  10. One fun angle I've seen is the use of celebrity status as a shield. Heroes so popular and with enough support that the government may resent the hell out of them, but if they tried to take control of them, there would be a PR backlash like you wouldn't believe that would likely end the political careers of quite a few folks. It doesn't come up often as too many are fond of the 'hated by a world they've sworn to protect ' vibe, but I've seen it work well in at least one campaign. A hero with a positive rep perk, good PRE and a high Oratory skill could be a nightmare for any government agency trying to yoke him her or her He or she might even end up shielding their whole team. "Yes, yes, Angry Bow guy had a criminal past, but Yankee Doodle Shieldsman is vouching for him ...Do NOT Pursue this!"
  11. It has been an amazing run to watch, I look forward to the last four years
  12. It's good that V is trying to fill Roy in even if it may not be the best of times.
  13. "I love the smell of burning bat guano in the morning. Smells like...victory"
  14. Just about any version of Aquaman would feed Punisher his bullets. Hell, the superfriends version could club the punisher into a coma with his jetski
  15. A lot depends on the type of super team. Not all of them answer to governments. They can be as informal as a group of friends with superpowers of their own, or even just a group of strangers who might realize there is strength in numbers but even the latter can have friendships form, romances bloom, and yes, you can find out one of your coworkers is a jerk

  17. Tarquin has now offended TWO women (if one can refer to a succubus as such) VERY deeply. He's doomed.
  18. A brief idea about this one, though it might overlap with your elder god cultists too much. The Church of Divine Harmony- Our best chance for world peace comes from the stars in the form of the living goddess herself. She's called by many names: Peace Bringer, the :Sword of Serenity, and Soul-Joy just to name a few; but the most accurate translation is Divine Harmony. Even the most cynical of men have found peace in serving her after just a few moments with her. Crowds hear her words and soon become believers! All their worries, fears, and stresses are eased as she takes them into herself. She bears the burden of it, all for them, she claims. And the price is so small....free will is just another burden, after all. Sometimes her worshipers seem distracted, for a part of their mind is forever on the joy of knowing Divine Harmony, but they are joyful always. They smile when they praise her. They smile when they build for her. And they even smile when they must kill those who somehow cannot be converted. After all, those that do not convert can never know peace anyway. Better they die than live being cut off from Divine Harmony's spirit. Divine Harmony however, abhors violence save as a last resort, or so she claims. She fully intends to stop all war on Earth. True, the euphoric bliss will mean no man, woman, or child will be able to determine their own destiny, but really, it's all for the better. ........ My suggestions would be to introduce the group as a cult/new age kind of movement that seems to rapidly be gaining converts and influence. Only when the characters investigate would they learn that "Divine Harmony" is not off this Earth. Make her a powerful mentalist with transformation, but, for some reason, have the PCs be among the only ones who seem immune, at least in the long term. This doesn't mean she's a push over. I'd also make her a brick, and how many conscious worshipers she has around her relates to her strong and invulnerable she is. If you want to start her out with more', then create a fictional country (Some Island in the Gulf of Mexico perhaps?) and have her take over it without firing a shot. Have the Church win the Nobel Peace Prize a bloodless coup that everyone there seems to love. Maybe her powers are actually super tech based. Find and destroy the tech, and free the masses.
  19. My Face to Face players, even after all these years, often tell me what they want, and then I make the character sheet short of anywhere of 5 to 20 points then hand it over to see if it's what they wanted and where they'd like those last remaining points. By now I know them pretty well so I usually get it right The combat can move pretty smoothly from there. And yes, Hero Designer has been a real time saver (Not to inflate Dan's ego)
  20. Hard to say if she'll try to rez him, or get him a new devilish (He claimed to be LE) form faster than it normally takes.
  21. I'm going to say I saw it coming, but I didn't expect it this soon. The entire moment was utterly chilling.
  22. While I did enjoy Marvel Superheroes and it certainly was one of my favorites as it served its purpose as a beer and pretzels game fantastically, I'm a bit surprised Champions isn't closer to number one myself . I'm also surprised no mention of Villains and Vigilantes.
  23. "Power I can't access is no power at all." Damn, he's got a solid wisdom score on him

    The Dated Doc D

I believe a hollywood saying, as selfish as it is, goes something like this "If Nazis did not exist, it would be necessary to invent them." Even now, I'm not sure they're out of the world psyche as the 'epitome' of Easy to Identify evil. Not yet. IF one wants to keep him around, then yeah, more machine than man works. Or Maybe the Doc ages at half the rate due to cyrogenic sleep sessions? So he's not ancient, yet, but he is still getting old enough to worry about his future. I really didn't care for "Shadow Destroyer" attempt to update him. It just didn't quite work. But I can see why they tried If I were going to update him entirely minus the 'I was an evil nazi scientist gig?' I'd need to think on that.
