  1. Q: Okay, now, remember, this is a "Champions" campaign. Super heroic approrpiate characters only please. So, what's your concept? A: Coats, soothes, and decieves.
  2. I have to go with Monolith. Concept and In character reasons for things are the way to go. Very few of my Players' characters have entangle for example, because it doesn't suit many of them. Yes, sometimes they get flash defense, or enhanced senses to deal with blindness but it's just as amazing how many of them don't have it. I try to balance this by having the villains stick to their concepts as well. Joe Brick is not typically going to have Flash Defense, not the first time he battles the heroes anyways. Besides, too many villains with, using an example here: No need to breathe would have my players who DID buy that NND wonder why they bothered to pay points for a power they never get to use. Maybe it's me, but traditionaly, heroes in the comics seem more versitile than their villainous counterparts. I try to respect that, even if I sometimes give the bad guys an edge in raw power.
  3. Only two of my players are female, but yeah, the idea for the team was an NPC group in case it needs be said. These are, like I said, for setting flavor. I have a pretty high super population in my CU, so things like this would I Think, logically develop.
  4. Glad I found this thread. You see, I just started a 500 point campaign with no real Active Point Limit being enforced. For me, this is high powered. Fortunately, the players are so used to me having a more standard campaign, that they're still in awe of the power of their characters. I'd like to say it's Justice Leagueish, but actually it's a pretty rogue crew. They've already defied the UN's orders to leave a civil dispute in a nation be (and good thing too, it turned out to be Eurostar's latest take over attempt). I gathered them in part via the old "Patron" motiff, a mandaarian NPC who can no longer sit idly by and watch humans hurt themselves. He won't try to rule them or anything, but he's no respect for national boundries or restrictions of that sort if it means lives will be lost. The PCs are of like mind, I suppose, boggling as it might seem, they're almost a Silver Age version of the Authority. Their first mission, they took out Eurostar, and freed a small (fictional..see, I told you it was Silver Agish) Europeon Nation that had already lost many many lives (Okay, tarnished silver). The NPCs own race is "hunting him" and each of the PCs is having to deal with their own nations reactions to this. They're setting up a base on an island out of the remnants of the NPCs ship. The funny thing is, the defenses of the players are still a bit... weak (Compared to high power stuff) so I'm not worried about them being invincible. Still, I am thinking of giving them more EXP rewards than normal, so they can advance a bit more if they wish. Has anyone run a high powered campaign only to find out...hey, it's not high powered enough?
  5. As might be evidenced by my own theoritical Foxbat driven beauty contest and other threads, sometimes a guy's inner juvenile comes out when he visualizes gorgeous women in tights. However, I doubt that male super heroes and villains are much different. I can easily imagine that occaisionally super heroines (and their villainess counter parts) must get tired of super speed pick up lines, being hit on by guys who want you to check out his STR score, etc. For this reason, I am thinking of including in my game world: 1) An all women team, either villainesses or Heroines. 2) A club, or some other place, where super powered women can go, no men allowed. 3) variation on #2, men are allowed, but they're serving drinks or dancing on stage for say...Hawkgirl's entertainment (Hey, I can see the one on the JL enjoying a good beer and telling a guy to shake it) Obviously, since people are individuals, not every woman with super powers would be interested in taking advantage of these options, but I figure the option of them being out there will add a little spice to the over all settting. Any ideas folks?
  6. (Forgive me if this scenerio has been discussed) Your character wakes up, and goes about his or her daily routine: Job, Patrols, what have you. Then notices something; There's no crime going on. Not ANYWHERE. People aren't so much as even speeding and even remember to rewind. Days pass, and all crime seems to have truly ceased. Kinda spooky. What does your character do?
  7. Well, considering how I've posted her (both on the old boards, and now here) for public consumption for free; I just can't see DoJ/HERO really being interested in a traditional submission of her. However, I could just offer her up to the "Free Stuff" section if they were so inclined. Something to think about, and thanks for your support (Now I feel like a Bartles and James comercial )
  8. Hmm, thinking of my own characters... Apex- He already has a daughter, but gained his powers after her birth. It is possible one day they might transfer to her, but unlikely. She might, however, insist on training herself so she could be a crime fighter. A martial artist of sorts, seeing as there is not much super tech in the campaign right now. Lonestar- There's a little lady of the law he's smitten with. I can see Lonestar , years later, having one or two kids with her easily (assuming she said yes to the proposal). Given his own mixed up bag of powers, likely one of the kids would have say Growth and STR, the other flight and all sorts of funky vision powers. If they were both sons, he'd be urging them into superheroing like their old man, if they were ladies, well, he'd help them do the same if they wanted, but he'd be slightly over protective when it came to strange men oggling his daughters. "Ah'm a sure you're going to have Titaness back by 10, ain't that right there young fella?" *Pop knuckles* Recluse- Who knows what Grandmother Spider has planned? SLAMMER- His DNA was.. strongly tweaked by aliens. His most likely lady to marry is a mentalist. Yeah, very likely super powers would get to the kids. Hopefully Slammer wouldn't spoil any of them into super villiany. SURGE: Surge IS a legacy hero. Wildcard: I have this insane image of Wildcard, and his kid sidekick Deuce. Let's not go there.
  9. Thanks for the input guys. Excellent points all. Though, I have to confess, the idea of Joe schmoe getting in over his head after uhm borrowing some villain's spare suit, and trying to use it for good just strikes me as darkly amusing. There might be a PC concept in that. Wheee... Hunteds made easy
  10. *L* AHHHH! My mindseye, the image now in it... it burns us!

    Human Limits

That would be Warpath, of the War Machine.

    Human Limits

Ah, thanks for the info. I was wondering if they were saving her for some other supplement or not.
  13. Hermit

    Human Limits

Hm, now that you mention her.... Actually, I haven't seen the 5th Ed version of her, so I couldn't say.
  14. Gotcha, and no worries; really, that was my only problem with it, and it's a minor nit to pick at that. I didn't even notice the number error till you brought it up.
  15. Nice Bartman, the only thing I might disagree with is it seems Lady Blue didn't seem to have much influence as mom.
  16. Okay, assuming the Powered Armor is the sort that can be used by anyone with a little practice, and, again assuming, that most villains spend some time in Stronghold or jail... What happens to the Power armor that some of them were wearing? It's unlikely it would be easy to get back after all. And, well, why doesn't the CU United States (and other nations) Govt have a whole NPC team of Powered Armor Agents, each in different suits that once belonged to villains? For that matter, some super heroes are ..uhm bold enough to strip a villain of his armor, and then keep it as a momento. What's to keep them from handing it off to Johny NPC and go "Here, welcome to the team?"
  17. Re: Introductory Adventure Sounds to me like someone is leaving the heroes a message. I'd say an 'old enemy' except, well, if they're that new, they may not have time to have old enemies. Perhaps, it's simply a supervillain wanna be who has fixated on them with a stalker like mentality?
  18. Heck, I'd say much more than "decent". His tactical mind and teamwork coordination, from what I've seen, have always been top notch. He doesn't pull many "We few, we angsty few, we band of super heroes" speaches, but as someone pointed out, he can forge teams with the best of them. Sorry for getting slightly off topic there
  19. Hey, if you feel like carp, then that's a sure sign to rest up... or go frolic in a local creek, either way take a break Seriously, we look forward to more, but health comes first.
  20. Oh, and "The Shroud", though, uhm, that darkness power isn't going to do him much good against DD.
  21. I don't think Wolverine would be appropriate. Lord knows, the popularity factor for both Bats and Cap is bad enough... but Wolverine seems to bring out something.. dark in every fan boy You'll soon have folks talking about how in one issue he TRAINED Captain America yadda yadda
  22. I would nominate Moonknight Nomad (Jack Monroe- Long hair and stubble version) Night Thrasher (of New Warriors fame)
  23. Sorry Sorry for the long story.... I got in the mood for a bit of writing. Anyways, I was wondering what you think the offspring of various Champion characters (Including any of your own) might grow up to be like. I know a few folks have played "legacy" campaigns, and kept it in the family, so to speak. In comic book universes, children of supers tend to become supers themselves, even if not always on the same side. So indulge in a little vanity for your characters, and if you would, consider what their next generation might be like.
  24. Nighthawk's eyes opened, defying the pounds of protest that action brought to his aching head. Slowly, what had happened came back to him; That idiot scientist, the portal, and closing it with the only piece of organic mass he had big enough to plug it-himself. In retrospect, he had done brighter things. Where the heck am I? He looked around. The place seemed familiar, very high tech, with some almost alien designs incorporated in the architecture. Still, the shape, the basic layout was! "Homestead. I'm in Homestead." Specifically, the medbay area; but the changes were too drastic for a mere overnight renovation. Forcing himself up onto his feet, he moved as quietly as he could. There were voices in the hallway. "I'm telling you, that's him. I ought to know, don't you think?" a woman's voice, confident, yet with undertones of soft humor. "We can't be sure, and if it is, should we even let him out?" Some guy, who, like the woman, had a Lennie accent, Locals? "The ramifications of two of him at once in the same time are... intriguing." A third voice responded, but the voice was almost accent free. Too perfect; artificial? He moved closer for another look, and a chance to slip by. No way was anyone 'holding him' here. He saw the backs of the three, and waited to make his move. One of them was a young woman in silver and black, her costume was much like his own, but slimmer, the hood neither so pronounced nor ominous. The second voice belonged to an athletic looking man of mixed heritage in a white costume with blue lightning bolts on it. The last was Defender? No way, the voice was wrong; Nighthawk figured some sort of robot in the armor. Apparently, the robot had radar built in, because it whirled around, "He is attempting escape." Each assumed a ready posture. Nighthawk drew forth his club obviously with his right hand, and palmed a gas pellet stealthily with the left. The woman smiled at this, noticing both movements, "Blue Bolt, Defender back off. I want this one." She slid her own hands into her cloak, and drew forth two clubs that instantly grafted to each other by a loose high tech wire. Nighthawk didn't have time to play, he threw the pellet at the woman's face, but she deflected with one smooth motion of her nunchuks and brought the weapon in an over hand strike which his club blocked smoothly, and countered with a punch of his now free hand. He felt like he had just punched a brick wall. His thoughts raced, her vest, the same tech as his? No, better. Still, he was rewarded with an ooof sound. Then she kicked him. Strangely, the other two were obeying her request, and not interfering. Nighthawk found it foolish, but he wasn't going to complain about a tactical error on his enemy's part. He countered with a leg sweep, which she narrowly avoided. From there, it got intense, or should have. While it was clear she wasn't holding much back, Nighthawk was increasingly aware that for her, this was indeed, just fun. She wasn't giving this the due seriousness this contest deserved. Under his mask, he scowled. "You're good ,old man." She seemed to mock her statement with an agile block of his latest swing. A grin was on her exposed mouth. Nighthawk's rebuttal was a successful palm strike to her shoulder that rocked her back a bit. He had not fully recovered to top form, and she was wearing him down. The fact she didn't seem to want to seriously fight him became all the more annoying. Nice that she cares, he thought dryly. Wait, that was it. He took her next whirling weapon blow, twisting just to take the edge of the force of it, but then doubled, as if in sudden pain beyond mere battle. The woman’s response was just what he hoped. Her mirthful expression turned to worry. "Are you oka..." then she left herself open bending forward to check on him. Nighthawk used her momentary lack of balance to pick her up, and slam her to the earth-hard! Then brought his club above her and held it there. Blue Bolt's eyes crackled, "Sucker Punch! you son of a #$#$!" The downed woman groaned, then called out, "Blue Bolt, don't. My fault; should have remembered he never did play fair." Then she looked up, pulled back her hood, and with the same eyes that had greeted Mark every morning in the mirror, glibly said, "Hi dad."
  25. And now, a question for Ms. V'han... Ms. V'han, if you had could have ONE wish granted, what would it be? VHAN: "I would wish for peace, not just for this world, but for all worlds...." (applause) VHAN: "....Under our benevolent but firm Tyranny, of course. Those who resist will be crushed utterly, their armies destroyed, their will broken, leaving only the younger generation in the ashes, hopefully to grow wiser than their foolish and defiant forefathers who sought to oppose me. Thank you."
