  1. Another thought I forget (And need to dig for my Champions Universe book) but is the CU Canada more or less strict on requiring 'registration' of super heroes? If less, Canada could have some formerly American super heroes who left the US rather than comply with that act.
  2. Is he still? Curious here. *G* Canadian Super VPP, 10 pts, Only to excell over American Counterparts ?
  3. Q: What are three of the more NORMAL characters in the current campaign? A: A knot in the stomach, a sigh, and acceptence
  4. Thanks L.L. Cool, I actually was thinking of a American Indian character who was NOT mystical in nature as being on this hypothetical team
  5. Since he's now a free sample, here was one of my attempts to do a devout religious super hero named Steadfast .
  6. Not certain, but I think they go with an 'Darkness/Cold=Evil" to counterbalance the "Light/Fire=Good"
  7. Across from Millennium City is the “relatively peaceful†Canadian city of Windsor. It’s that relative term that has me thinking. Given that MC has more super action than many cities twice its size, Windsor must get at least a little fall out. Besides, while other cities in Canada have super heroes and super hero teams (Comet, Starforce), the official Canadian super team keeps breaking up so maybe it’s just not working for Canada on a national level. It must be awfully annoying to Windsor to have their city overshadowed, in part because it misses out on the super hero action (Remember, this is a comic book universe….if you don’t have super heroes, you might as well be in Iowa ). So, let us begin the construction of a new Superteam, for Canadians, by Canadians, and of Canadians (Okay, maybe ONE American, and an alien or something… that’s it, tops ). Now, before we get going, a few ground rules. 1) Please, No “gag†characters. Overall, the Canadians have been great neighbors (to those of us in the US), let’s not saddle them with “Maple Man and the Crimson Canuk!†or any such thing. 2) A lot of characters in “Champions of the North†were great, but don’t simply say “bring back _____†if you want that. Say why, and what changes you’d make. Remember, this is Windsor, so some might not fit as well as they would Vancouver etc. 3) A “token†American might be okay, (see above, and after all, many American teams in comics have members from other nations) but let’s have the team be mostly of Canadians. In addition to members, perhaps a decision on how formal or official this team would theoretically be. Would it be government sponsored? If so, on what level? Would it be a collection of local heroes with a lot of pride? What?
  8. Sorry to disapoint you, but as I only JUST got my group to give Sci Fi a chance, I'm afraid not. Now, in other genres (Super Heroic, Fantasy, etc) I have thrust them into other dimensions. lands, or even times that they were unfamilar with. A few of those were places they DEFINITELY Did not want to go I tend to game it with kind of double shots from opposing sides... accenting the similiarities before trying to blow their minds by bringing some element that shows just how different its. Then right back again. Seems to keep my group entertained
  9. Well, maybe if Dark Sereph wasn't involved and had sent the Crowns to do the job without him. Add Kinetik to the Champions line up for this one... and... nope, it would still be lopsided, but at least they'd have a better chance.
  10. Heh... I can see it now.... a single 50 pt mystery disadvantage "Okay, roll luck/unluck" "Sure thing," The Player grabs for three 6 siders, only to see the GM pulling out ten of his own and setting them down to use as well. "What's this?" "The 10d6 you'll need for your mystery disadvantage... now roll, and we'll see if you can stop the doomsday device in time..."
  11. For some reason, that's almost too scary beyond words
  12. Another thread got me to thinking a bit about religious super heroes. They do occur in comic books. Some it barely gets mentioned, some few are quite devout in their faith. Examples that come to mind are Nightcrawler, Firebird, and Daredevil. Both Kitty Pryde and Ben Grim are Jewish. Within Champions own Universe, we get a plethora of infernal and dark villains to twhart and confound our heroes. While a brief mention is made in the CU book itself on relations between super heroes and religions, there are few if any superheroes that seem to have faith in their lives. Some would see it as too serious a thing to tackle for games like this, others would see it as totally unimportant so I can understand why it doesn't get broached much. Still, I have to ask if anyone has used such things in their games? Either for NPCs, or for a PC? The only player in my group who has such a character has a mentalist. That character happens to be a Pagan, and took the name "Wytch". I know someone on these forums (I think Storn) has played a Muslim character. D-Man has a Jewish character (Anthem I believe?) and so on. How much or little does your typical super human in your campaign (or game if you are a player) let his/her faith affect his/her life especially AS a super hero?
  13. one option While it's not the "official" way to go, I sometimes allow some of my players to fill up only, say, a hundred points of their disads at first.... then as game play goes on, we add them on as makes sense. Hunteds, for example, are often quite easy to aquire during the course of a campaign. So, for ex. if Valiant REALLY pissed off Black Palidan during last week's gaming session, why not put Hunted 8- etc etc.
  14. *chuckles* I had one character who's made great use of leading villains of infernal nature to Churchs and other holy places. Since there are few heroes with 'holy' powers, I'm quite lenient in deciding that "Yes, almost any old church should do." For Champions characters themselves, if they've been played as being particularly devout, one could allow them an 'Ego roll' to summon the faith needed to hurt the foe. That too would have to be a GM call though.
  15. Witchcraft -IMO I don't think she'd fit the bill. Witchcraft is too uncertain of her origin and her 'purity' to really qualify. She believes her heritage taints her, and while she seems to find magic fascinating; she also grew up around its darkest sides. She's got a lot of issues to work out before progressing there.
  16. *G* And given some of the Hunteds the MC8 have, it might make more sense as well
  17. My players have their own characters, so I won't be running the Champions against the Crowns of Krim anytime soon. Still, it would be an interesting if slightly onesided match up.
  18. Well, I don't have the latest VIPER book yet (Though I hear great things) so I can't really compare yet.... but if the 5th Ed is more terrorist like, making ARGENT more business like is definitely a good way to make the two stand out from each other.
  19. Question: Where the hell did you get all this lint?? Answer: A guinea pig in a plate mail.
  20. Q: Do I have to go with you to Yodeling 101? A: The cheese and the cream and the cheesy cream cheese... and a steak!
  21. Excellent suggestions... since I was thinking of going deeper into Thorgon culture, I am thinking with their aggresive nature a 'hard' martial art would be more common. Something akin to kick boxing perhaps. Maybe if you get to do that Mon'Dabi article/product you can slip "The Dance of the Sacred Fire" in there
  22. I was thinking of making an alien martial artist for Champions (I know, wrong forum) but that started me thinking... what martial arts would have survived/developed in the TE Setting? The only ones I see mention of is fencing on one Terran world, and Commando Training for certain packages. While I don't want to have my starpirate campaign turn into "Ninja Hero in space" (Not that that couldn't be cool in it's own right), more than one of my players is playing an alien and might want to spend some exp in that area (though frankly, I think dirty infighting variations would be the typical pirate thing). So, any thoughts on which races might have their own styles etc and if so, what they'd be like?
  23. You may have already thought of these, here's what I can think of off the top of my head. While I know you covered it in the 4th Edition Dark Champions, for those new fans, a redo of the swingline/dragging cable you made (ala Batman: tAS) would be great, and was always one of my favorites. Power Gaunlets of high tech nature, be it electricly charged, or whathave you. How about comic book variations on the whip? Be it able to move "like a living thing" , the deadly monowhip ("It's only one molecule thick"..also works for super swords) and other goodies. Jet/Jump boots And variations and logical (by super hero standards) high tech ways for quick costume changes.
  24. Q: Have you seen anything more awesome than my unparagoned descanting pachyderm? A: He's dead Jim...#@$#$ okay, he just moved!
