  1. Re: Recommendations on Str Minimum for weapons? Ah, you mean a shortcut. I'm naturally indisposed to them; they have a tendency to be more work in the end than the longer path.

  4. Wondering what the forum thinks, because the numbers I came up with seem off to me. For example, an Arming Sword weighs roughly 1-2 kg or 2-4 lbs. I've got it set at SM 10. Hand-and-a-half sword is set at 14...'Olympic Weightlifter' seems a bit off for that. Mostly, I've got no real-world expeirence with swords and am looking for a sanity check.

  8. Say you've got a Killing Attack. The ratio of KA to DC points is 5 / 15, or 1/3. 1 DC = +1, 2 DC = 1/2d6, 3 DC = 1d6. Not a problem. But then it gets an advantage that affects how it does damage for +1/4. It's now 5 / 18.75 = 0.2667, or 0.25 or 1/4d6. How do I convert that into +1, 1/2d6, 1d6 and so forth? I've read the rules explanation, but something isn't sticking.
  9. Re: Brink Of War I guess we'll have to agree to disagree - I'd find that annoying to GM. I'd end up figuring out why that was; either they don't exist or they're being deliberatly obscure or you have to have X to percieve them or something else. * Where X = Faith, a 'mark of the gods', 'divine authority', etc...
  10. Re: Brink Of War Thing is - And I'm going to go into a bit of a theory of mine - RPGs are both role-playing and game. So, anything that exists in the game world has to exist in both 'sets'. A role-played encounter is essentially meaningless without mechanical consquences; mechanical consequences are meaningless if they don't relate to IC roleplaying. Of course, IMO.

  16. Re: Brink Of War Why not take it a step in a different direction? Clerics get Conversation-type skills, but 'Only To Speak With the God/Only For the Gods Purposes'. So a cleric wouldn't cast spells at all - They'd do what priests are actually supposed to do throughout history - They'd talk to their gods. So it wouldn't be 'I use "Heal Light Wounds"', it would be 'I pray "This man is a good man who does your will. Please heal him"'. Exactly what the result is, mechanically...Well, this is Hero System. Could be Healing with RSR: Conversation; could be a conversation roll and if you're successful the Conversation skill points get 'converted' to a Healing roll. ...Whoop, missed the page count before I posted.
  17. First, it needs to do damage. So, an Energy Blast. Second, it needs to have a very small chance of missing. So a CSL: One attack/weapon. Except it's in a VPP with modifiers. And CSL: One attack/weapon can't have modifiers. And it's in a List, so it can't use Linked, either. Help?

  25. Re: A Thread for Random Musings It is currently 8:21 in the morning and I have not gone to sleep yet. It being rather late or early, I'm staying up till twelve or later. See, at this point it's easier to move my 'Go to sleep' time forward than back. Also, I may get sillier.
