See what you mean but the silly answer is always a good one.

Ben has so much incivility and nastiness to deal with, he needs someone to take a side and try and persuade others to follow standards. If they don't well fine. But we need to try.

    This happened just last Wednesday

    Ancient Japan campaign.

I’m a ninja sneaking up on an Inn, casing the joint to see if my cohorts have arrived. I carry a large bow, so to avoid trouble, I've disguised myself as a hunter, having killed some birds as I travelled and thrown them over my shoulder.

I listen at each window. At one back window, I hear the familiar sounds of my two teammates who are disguised as a married couple. The players say they are “doing what married couples doâ€. I tell the GM, that I listen a little longer outside that window.

Another ninja sneaks out of the wood. I crit fail my stealth roll and he spots me. I’m supposed to be quiet like the wind, so I’m annoyed. “I know, it was bad luck! One of the chickens wasn’t dead. It clucked.â€

So the GM then makes me roll to determine of *I* spotted *him*. I crit fail *again*. Strangling my dice, I try to save my dignity. “OK, I know! I didn’t hear him sneaking up on me, because I’m busy wringing the bird’s neck before it blows my cover.â€

The GM turns to another player (the other ninja) and asks what he does next.

And the player says: “Let me just understand this. I come upon him outside a bedroom, with lovemaking sounds coming from within. He's outside, with his ear to the window, choking his chicken…â€

The governor of Florida... you know, the kid brother to that mook some people call "President"... has decided that in its infinite wisdom, the State of Florida needs five fewer administrative judges on its payroll.

Five. Not "five hundred". Not "five thousand". Five. And he personally decided which ones would be "downsized".

My wife was one of them. There was no warning... she had already begun processing her docket this morning when the Senior Court Judge called her in for a private meeting in which she said "We can work it two ways. One, you resign and we won't contest your unemployment benefits. Two, we fire you and keep your unemployment benefits in process until 2007."

According to her direct supervisor, the five people the Governor "downsized" were the only registered democrats hearing cases in the North-Florida administrative district. Coincidence? I wonder.

Our household income, after Becky's prodigious medical expenses, wasn't all that hot to begin with. Now, factoring and now that we've lost what little medical insurance we were able to scrape together to cover her and the kids, its even cooler.

I add this to Governor Bush managing to make my grandmother's pension disappear by investing it in Enron, and making my mother's retirement disappear by restructuring how state employment benefits are handled. Its almost like he has it in for us.

So all of you Bush-kissers who say that my hatred for the man and his family is unreasonable, or irrational, or baseless... get bent. I've got plenty of reason to hate them, and they are damned personal reasons.

You had to remind me we are the laughing stock of the world.

I DON'T see this ending well. Can you say at least four years of TRULY HATEFUL partison rancor?

I have to admit it, though it make me happy about myself...

I have a suspicion that the "found" 700+ votes from King County are fraudulent. Otherwise they should have showed up at least in the FIRST recount. Shouldn't they?

    Recount until you win?

Christine Gregoire won 50% of the votes, DESPITE the fact that her department as state attorney general was blatantly shown to be incompetent. They didn't bother to file an appeal, so the state had to pay a multi-million dollar fine. They then fired the woman who "was supposed to file it" and LOST a WRONGFUL TERMINATION suit by her!!!!!

I seem to recall there were a few other incidents...

It seems somehow fitting that this post follows a Mightybec one.
So how did your Tribble greet the New Year ? How about with a virus that has shut down hospital wards ?
The symptoms are vomiting and diahorrea, the urge sometimes being for both at once. Spent most of Saturday dehibilated lying flat out on the floor. I only had breakfast for food. Didn't feel hungry and didn't really want to tempt fate. The vomiting seems to have stopped but the diahorrea just keeps on coming.
The up side is that I have seen the Extended Version of Return of the King.

Here are a few quotes from a couple of Champions games I've run. Canadian Sheild was the "serious" game, and MegaCity was a "Mystery Men" style low-point comedy series of games.

    CANADIAN SHIELD

"I feel silly, I'm a career soldier, I've been to Sereyevo. I've been to Somalia...I've been to New York..."
-Staff Sgt. Berton, on being unsettled by seeing Jean Codere transform into a werewolf.

"I'm going to pull a hissy fit and I need to concentrate."
    -Siren

WILDCARD: You don't get a day off of Canadian Shield because you have a runny nose
SIREN: Yes, but today you have two runny noses.
    - on Wildcard's latest transformation, with two heads, four arms and four legs.

"I don't talk to men covered in snot."
-Tempo to Wildcard, trapped in a liquid polymer entangle resembling mucous.

BLUEFIRE: Why is Tempo the only one listening to me?
SIREN: She's new; She doesn't know any better.

"There's somebody home, but he keeps hanging up."
-Siren, on having a hard time mind-controlling a villain with strong mental defenses.

"Dodge? Why I have a Dodge right here!"
    -Wildcard, throwing another car.

"Arrow should have one of those FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY signs on his head."
-Wildcard, after Arrow's second successful Move Through maneuvre.

"Isn't that just like a man; Just when you want to talk to them, they're out cold" -Siren, on her frustration at being unable to mind-control an unconscious foe.

"It's like having a baby, only you're the baby."
-Jean (Loup Garou) Codere, on how it feels to change into a werewolf.

"Hey, let's not forget our communications protocol people! This is an official business channel! Yellow alert is reserved for second & third base. Red alert is for home!"
-Martin (Wildcard) Gideon, after Arrow signalled a Red Alert, thinking his cousin Jake was in trouble, when he was, in fact, making out with Stephanie Wright.

"I can't believe it. His eyes didn't even drop when he was shaking my hand. I don't think that's ever happened before."
-Siren, on the Prime Minister's uncanny ability to not stare at her breasts.

"It's not good guys and bad guys, it's bad guys and WORSE guys!"
    -Siren

    MEGACITY MEGAMEN

"Oh, well, being defeated by a superhero team is good press too!"
    -Evil Guy

Ta ta! Going on patrol. There may not be crime, but I might get lucky.
    -Pink Panther

You're so open minded you've got a door at the back of your head
    -Red Rocket

    Your contacts squeaked that?
-The Hero With No Name, referring to the Red Rocket's subway mice informants

METRO MAN: She talks to mice.
RED ROCKET: Yeah, well, he thinks Jennifer Love Hewitt actually likes him.
METRO MAN: But I SAVED her!
RED ROCKET: And yet, the Restraining Order.

Look, I'm the pidgeon of justice!
    -Metro Man, meaning 'paragon'

THE HERO WITH NO NAME: She's going to save my ass again.
RED ROCKET: That's what I do.

RED ROCKET: You're not the brains of this operation, are you?
THE HERO WITH NO NAME: Who is?

Lets conch this guy on the head
    -Red Rocket

Your clue train has pulled out of the station
    - Night Watchman

Do you remember the good old days when we fought crime?
    -Red Rocket

RED ROCKET: Well, we saved the day again
METRO MAN: No, we were present when the day was saved.

On the Seventh Day, God rested... apparantly, He spent that Day drinking, cus he had quite the nasty temper throughout the entire Old Testament. It wasn't until He knocked up the Virgin Mary that He realized He needed to lay off the bottle for a few eons. But being God, He sobered up pretty quick, giving us the God of love and forgiveness we all know today.

I'm going to Hell for this, aren't I..?

Today was a day full of the joys of wishing that I could kill someone. Particular people this is.

So I ceased providing IT support to them two months ago. But have been doing some filler because no has been appointed despite the continued reminders. This is just the bureaucratic stuff, registering users and what have you. But this week with the amount of stuff that they sent me and thinking it could and would be done next day was ridiculous. So I have words with my division boss and countersigning boss and have their support to refuse further requests.

Meantime we have XP being rolled out to some divisions them included.
They ask about me getting a printer networked for two users in a cell office. I point out that our central IT people need 6 people and their PC IDs per printer. They have two. Plus they already have 3 network printers and less than 13 users. (The two people have to walk 10-15 feet to get to the nearest network printer. Neither is disabled in any way). I also point out that they need someone to do the IT support for them as I'm not doing it anymore. Senior manager above my division head said so. Then one of them rings me about it saying how do they get around it.
Point out they can't. That the request will be automatically rejected for reasons stated. They say this is nonsense and we go around in circles as I point out they have no-one to do it either as I can't (and won't). They say they are going to put it through to one of the IT heads and that if they can get it done this way I should give them an apology. I point out that it won't make a difference in the first case and No in the second.
They have been a trifle spoiled. They tried to do it that way and I had word from the IT head's people. Gave them the low down and it looks like they won't have the printer that way either.
So some good came of it.

Heh...my naval geekiness has been exposed. The Piotr Velikiy is one of the only modern battlecruisers in service anywhere. Formerly known as the Kirov class in the USSR, 2 of the 4 are still in service with the Russian Navy. The P. Velikiy (Peter the Great) and the Admiral Nakhimov (er...Admiral Nakhimov).
You can see more about this monster of a ship (Largest warships produced since WW2 other than Aircraft Carriers) here: http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/kirov/

And also see yet another variation on the name. I have yet to see any two sources agree on how to spell "Peter" in Russian.
