  1. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? My December - Linkin Park
  2. Re: Age and Sanction? I have three under age characters in my current campaign. One is a PC of another player and was sanctioned as part of the hiring process to join the New Sentinels. One is the owner of the superbase, but has been able to legally prove in court that she is older than she appears, so that's not a problem. One, my PC Anthem, has no sanction. She just does good and no one forces the issue. I do also have a team of under-age heroes, but I haven't really introduced them yet and they're not likley to seek any kind of approval. They're cocky little bastages.
  3. Re: Wht did your Champion get for the holidays? Hadn't given it much thought since the game isn't active right now... Anthem - Got a stuffed animal given to her by the little girl three apartments down, and lots of food brought over by other neighbors who appreciate how she keeps an eye on things and know she doesn't have much money. Uncle Slam - Received the standard acquaintance gifts from people who know him (expensive cigars, brandy). The noteworthy gift is a photo album made by his female assistant who has a crush on him; it includes photos of him with many famous people (Every president since the 1920s, the Dali Lama, Muhamad Ali, etc.) Audra Blue - Ducks the holiday entirely, retreating from the world entirely until the holiday is over. Truthfully, she's been jacked-in to the network and having an online Christmas with people who are no longer around. It's how she gets through the holidays.
  4. Re: City of Heroes (Champions of Champion) After all this time i've only got two level 50s, one in each game. Teen Anthem (50 Scrapper) and Secret Asian Man (50 Stalker), both on Justice server. Most of my regularly played characters are on Justice. I've made a couple on other servers when I just want to try out a combo. Then if I like it, I come back to justice, clear a toon I'm not using, and rebuild the character there. Still working all my old heroes on the CoH side right now (Audra Blue 41 blaster, Sleepwalker 43 tank, Plasma Witch 25 defender), on the CoV side I'm working Father Weed and Cap'n Dread as part of two different duos, and Verboten is my experiment with Masterminds.
  5. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I wouldn't mind going out that way. It would make all the Darwin-Theory blogs and e-mails for the year
  6. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Everyone needs toys! I was so glad that the parking lot downstairs was empty all day. Gave me the opportunity to play with my new radio control car. (Didn't keep me from doing one spectacular crash though )
  7. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Denim and Leather - Saxon
  8. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Ah, yes, I should count my actual "At the theater" movies... Rocky Balboa... It was nice to see him scale the whole thing down. The films had gotten progressively inflated and glitzy. Rocky V had been an attempt to bring that back down to earth, and from what I understand, in Stallone's draft of the script, Rocky winds up dying in that final fight, but the studio hated it, hence the film that purists tend to say doesn't exist. Rocky VI, aka "Rocky Balboa" was pretty solid. There are some legitimately touching moments, the strongest acting of which is between Stallone and Burt Young (Paulie), including a scene in the meat packing plant where stallone tears up and I find myself rubbing my eyes. And a great, great character insite from Paulie when he says "You can afford to look back, you were nice to her!" The downside (if you can call it that) is that it's not a big fight movie. There's really only one fight, unless you want to count the half-round fight the opponent has with a nobody where he destroys that guy. My worry was that the logic of fighting again wouldn't be there. He does plenty in the script to ensure that it makes logical sense, and the "big fight" is an exahabition where they're expected to just put on a good show, not go to war. Of course we know better. I liked it a lot. And I contend that Bill Conti's "Gonna Fly Now" may be the greatest theme song ever written for a movie, edging out Starwars and Superman and Indy Jones themes. The Good Shepard... It's funny but for a movie that is all Matt Damon, in that he's in every scene, there's remarkably little acting from him. Mind you, that's be design. The guy he plays is so locked-down and non-reactive that you want to hit him upside his head and say "Hey, hug your kid!", "Hey, bang your smoking hot wife!" The acting is fantastic really from everyone, it's just that the most prominent part (Damon) doesn't do much emotionally because that just wouldn't be "him". Deniro does some very good direction, there are a ton of cameos, and the plot is interesting, starting at the Bay of Pigs finale and jumping back in time to Damon's character's drafting into the Yale's infamous secret Skull and Bones society and subsequently the CIA. Great storytelling. I just wanted Damon to get the chance to stretch. But that would have been a betrayal of the character.
  9. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watching the Nightmare Before Christmas right now. So naturally "What's this?" will be stuck in my head for at least two days.
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Caught the Patrick Stewart one the other night on cable; I think it was TBS or TNT. I always expect him to say, "Alright spirit #1, Make it so!"
  11. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Shock the Monkey - Peter Gabriel. How christmasy!
  12. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? My favorite is the musical version called "Scrooge" with Albert Finney in the lead (Which is saying something since I generally hate musicals). Second place is between George C. Scott and Patrick Stewart. After that, I kinda like the Henry Winkler "An American Christmas Carol".
  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watched 4 episodes of the Brisco County Jr. tv series and re-watched the Christmas epsiode of Studio 60.
  14. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Caught two Christmas movies that I'd somehow managed to avoid over the past few years: Elf and Prancer. Both were very cute. Prancer was much more serious than I expected. While Will Ferrel sells the adult-child schtick extremely well, it's the little touches that sold Elf for me; Staying in the dept. store after hours just to decorate it better, his addiction to sugar (Love the four elf food-groups), and Bob Newhart as the elf who raised him is an excellent choice, while James Caan as his real dad is great contrast. Oh, and his gen-x girlfriend is cute as a button. Gotta go look up who she is now to see what else she's been in.
  15. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Then I would think that shrinkage would be a bad thing!
  16. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Skin and Bones - Foo Fighters
  17. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread That nippy 60 degree weather outside. (Hey, no mocking, that's below freezing for southern cal!) Think I'll go put on the mulled cider
  18. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Connected - Stereo MCs
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... "Technically, Cinderella wasn't a princess." "No, she changed back to normal at midnight, so she was a WerePeasant."
  20. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Can U Deliver - Armored Saint
  21. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Angel - Sarah McLachlan
  22. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Well' date=' [i']Dude, I Totally Miss You[/i] is my favorite song from it, but there's some really tasty stuff early on. I don't find the stuff later in the album as interesting (where they do the Meatloaf-like time and tempo changes), but it's hard not to love Kickapoo with JB, Meatloaf, and Dio on vocals. And Dave Grohl continues to be the coolest human being on the planet Not a perfect Tenacious-D (I think the first one was more like them) but it's got some solid rock-and-roll-legs.

  24. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Goodbye - Army of Anyone
  25. Re: Sam Rami to do a Pulp Film? I think the Shadow was pretty lackluster as a film. But I can easily see Raimi doing something cool. Personally, I'm not familiar with "The Avenger".
