Though I do think that they will do a Daredevil show.  He is their best character in that particular that particular weight class, though I am also a fan of Moon Knight.  If they are smart, they will scalp some of the writing and production crew from the Netflix series since they did a very good job.  However, unless Netflix agrees to sell they the right to the first 3 season, I don't see them going forward with Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, or Vincent D'Onofrio.

A new Daredevil show will be a mistake, because it will not be anywhere near as good. Guaranteed.

I tend to agree with this assessment. Disney enjoys a long history of becoming a dominant player in every entertainment space they enter. Disney Plus isn't a case of them dipping their tones in the streaming waters. They are going all in on it, and they won't stop until they displace Hulu as one of the Big Three.

Did you mean "displace"? I assume you meant something else as Hulu is Disney's.

I like the Marvel stuff but personally DIsney doesn't have the range I am interested in. Obviously different if you have kids.

But also I think their style of "F the customer" will count against them.

Things like cancelling great shows and Hulu plannig to show Ad Breaks when you pause will drive people away. Why pay for a streaming service AND have ads!

  3. It's rare that I can find stuff to sit down and watch with Mrs Jagged. I like escapist rubbish and she likes history programmes (I know far more than I care to about the Tudors!).

However she does enjoy the odd fantasy thing if it has suitably dark undertones, so we are currently working our way through the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Which is very good imo.

The Marvel Netflix shows are casualties of the digital streaming war between Netflix and Disney. Disney is pulling all their content from, well, everywhere, and putting it exclusively on Disney Plus. Netflix has decided that the only reasonable response is to cancel every show that would cost them a fortune (and their souls) to renew, and they have no interest in doing anything that helps Disney make money. I'm not sure I really blame Netflix, at least from a purely business perspective. However, as a fan of (some of) their Marvel shows, I am just as disappointed as you are.

What I should have said was I think its a bad business decision for Disney.

I just don't see them winning the Streaming Wars and think they would have been wise to get closer embedded with Netflix.

  5. Very disappointed by the predicted Netflix cancellations. Daredevil is in my opinion one of the best Marvel productions, including the movies. And their Wilson Fisk is the only Marvel villain I find in anyway scary. Easily the best realised villain of the whole MU.

Regardless of the various artistic merits of the Netflix ventures I also think it is a bad business decision. I don't see good things in the future for Hulu.

It's probably the death of any decent adult Marvel content too :(

I'm concerned about the writers after last nights episodes.   It seems they have sympathy for Agent Liberty's point of view.

    I wondered about that myself.

If you are attempting to paint immigration in a good light having a montage about how many times aliens have nearly destroyed or enslaved you isn't going to do it.

I think if I lived in this particular universe I would be totally fine spreading krytonite throughout the atmosphere. Or anything else to make the place less attractive to dangerous aliens :(

  7. @Deadman still working on it. Have to negotiate with the Misses and the DIY for time :)

@ScottRuggles all those things are possible but with differing levels of difficulty. You have quite a long list and I don't have time to answer all of them.

Duplicating mooks is as simple as ctrl c ctrl v.

Tracking stats is as simple as deciding what stats your campaign requires. You can build macros to modify them automatically, but you and your players can do it manually if you have to.

Maptool supports snap to grid and facing for hex grids out of the box.

You can do a lot with the current AOE templates but I am going to improve them for Hero System.

  8. I am a contributor to the Maptool project.  If you are unfamiliar with Maptool its a open source, totally free virtual table top (VTT) application. Its is probably the longest running VTT project, has more functionality than any other and is still growing. What it is definitely NOT is the nicest looking or easiest to use ? We like to refer to it as the Millennium Falcon of VTTs as it might not look like much but she's got it where it counts kid.

Anyway, I am hoping to run a hero system campaign in the not to distant future and am in the process of trying to improve some of the hex based features (such as drawing tools and area effect templates) but was wondering if there are any missing killer features that would make running a hero system game that much easier?

Have you ever thought, "It would be so much easier to play hero system if I could just ..." ?  If you have I would love to hear what it is and maybe I can do something about it. No promises mind ?

That's the song. I don't want to assume, so why don't you plainly make the point you're trying to make? I thought the initial question was whether the police had a legitimate reason to be on the scene in the first place. It looks on the surface like they did. It seems that you're making the suggestion that they were only on scene because of racism? Is it racist not to want kids to hear profanity and sexual references while at school?

Here's the song (NSFW, of course):

So, 2045 is when Skynet destroys the world, I'll mark it on my calendar.

    Don't worry.

Once they start marrying each other they will be too busy fighting over where to store the cutlery to bother about us.

But if we want to be doubly sure we can send them some cushions.

  11. I think 10/10 is justified. For this type of movie it's about as close to perfect as you are likely to get. Personally I never liked these "cosmic" team ups in the comics and up until now have not enjoyed the film equivalent. This one, unusually, managed to deliver on the hype.

Given the huge number of characters they can't all get backstory but what we get is quality. They do well taking Thanos beyond the pantomime. The scenes with Gamora and the flashback to his home world combined with the decision to drop the "courting Death" idea produce a villain that is at least an understandable psychopath!

On the acting side my MVP Award goes to Chris Hemsworth. His scenes with Rocket were excellent. Not many actors could deliver the jokes while retaining the underlying sadness. Awesome.

And lastly I don't usually seen movies on their opening weekend but I was glad I went early to avoid the inevitable spoliers that will come. Marvel managed to surprise me and it's rare that a movie does that. And if I had made bets on which characters lived and died I would have lost all my money! Black Panther and Spiderman? No way could they be in any danger.
