InvestoPedia has a good article on whether nor not Social Security is a Socialist program.  Here's a snippet.

    The Bottom Line
It's interesting to remember that the U.S. got the idea for a social-security system from 19th century Germany.
That very capitalist monarchy launched an old-age social insurance program in 1889 at the behest of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, partly to stave off radical socialist ideas being floated at the time.
The original social security was actually an anti-socialist maneuver by a conservative government.
Nevertheless, because the American government plays such a dominant role in the U.S. Social Security system – deciding how much and when employees and employers pay into the system, how much individuals receive in benefits when they get them, and preventing almost everyone from opting out – it seems fair to call the Social Security program a form of socialism.

Har'Ak wandered the endless paths of the world and came upon the will-o-wisp leading lost children into the depths of a deadly swamp.  The cruelty of the act rankled Har'Ak and he stretched his Will into the world.  Each will-o-wisp would have its twin - a glimmer of hope - that would lead the lost not to their doom, but homeward.  Those who walk the roads at night know to avoid the lure of a will-o-wisp, but those already lost beyond hope will often catch a glimmer of light in the distance and follow it towards safety and shelter.  Preparation is better than hope, but hope is better than certain doom.

Fauna:  Along the well traveled roads between the wilder parts of the world there is a peculiar tree that is known to spring up bearing a strange red gourd.  The same gourd is known by three names as it passes through three stages of ripeness.  When the gourds are first ripening they are known as Travelers' Mercy as they are full of a thick, sweet red liquid and a thick, filling flesh.  Many a troubled traveler has found the strength to finish their journey thanks to these gourds.

Later when the gourds have lingered too long they harden, but their contents ferment and the majority of the flesh dissolves leaving a pint of naturally occurring liquor within.  These have come to be called Travelers' Delight and many have wandered the roads looking to harvest these dark red gourds that resemble lacquered wood.

Eventually the gourds soften and their contents splatter to the ground where they attract great numbers of insects and produce a sickly sweet scent much like that of rotting meat.  These are known as Traveler's Lament and road weary travelers find only disappointment and the risk of pestilence when they pass these by.  It is said that seeing a cluster of Traveler's Lament is an omen that one's journey is doomed and the more superstitious will turn back at such a sight and return the way they came.
    --------------------------------
Secondary Domain:  The Benevolent Flame (which should produce some interesting interference options).  In the earliest days fire was a calamity that people feared and avoided at all costs.  It is said that Har'Ak showed the cleverest souls how to tame the smallest fires and make them into a cherished family member.  A well tamed fire keeps the Hearth warm, the food hot and drives back the terrors of the night.  A poorly fed fire dies and takes its blessings with it.  An untamed fire can kill host and guest alike.  Among those who call upon the name of Har'Ak skill at tending a proper fire is refined to the point of worship.

And for the final bit - Sentient Life:

The current peoples of the world were not the first that Har'Ak sought to instruct in the ways of Hearth and Hospitality.  There was a far older race that he blessed with His gifts.  A primitive breed of one-eyed cave dwellers were the first to know His presence.  In time they mastered the hearth, the garden and the home.  But, they were a miserably selfish lot and hoarded rather than shared.  They left their own to suffer while they grew fat in excess.

Har'Ak was infuriated by this and laid a mighty curse upon their race.  They would forever dwell within the mountains in their homes of stone.  And they would forever be only able to consume as much as they shared.  Half was the price of their greed.

Still the selfish one-eyed brutes couldn't stomach the idea of giving away food, warmth and shelter.  So they became master craftsmen and began bitterly to trade with the newer peoples of the world.
They traded bronze for lumber; cut stone for crops and their unmatched brews for food.  Many of them would eventually call upon the name of Concinnant  as they took to cursing Har'Ak for their troubles.

It is said that their kind can survive outside the mountain only as long as they do not sleep.  When a Cyclops grows weary and sleeps outside the mountain he turns to stone and cracks.  The legends of trolls arose from such deaths.

I was thinking more broadly than that.  Even humans working cooperatively in a mutually beneficial manner would qualify.  After all the God of Hearth and Hospitality wants everyone to benefit from each others efforts.

Har'Ak cares not whether the symbiosis is between a human and their garden, a bee and the flower or farmer sheltering a weary traveler from the rain in return for news about the outside world.

The art of brines and broths, seasonings and spices, soups and stews and sweets. You can eat to survive, or you can eat to thrive. The Art of Cookery, the Culinary Arts of creating delicious food and succulent recipes. (The Amamaun cuisine  is not to everyone's tastes, with the lack of fire under the sea, but can still be surprisingly tasty.)

This is it - right here.

And the solution is not a collection of amateur adventures written by fans.  It is professional grade adventures written by real authors and illustrated by real artists.

Look at the amazing work done in the Pathfinder and D&D 5th edition hardcover adventures.

Time is precious and very few DMs have the luxury of enough time to crank out whole worlds and adventures from nothing but their imaginations.  Even if they did they would rarely match the quality of professional writers.

I couldn't have agreed more with you, Spence.  We need adventures more than anything else - by a lot.

There are lots of answers to "it's in character".

It's also in character for the rest of the group to react - so, if you're "in character" to offend the rest of the group, don't complain when, perfectly "in character", you are ostracized.

It's "in character" for my thief character to steal from the party?  Sure.  It's also "in character" for the strict law & order character to chop off his hand.

Ultimately, if you design, and insist on playing, an asshole character, I would suggest that tells me something about you, the player, as well.

Hmm, so unless he had that power active he'd have to Abort to activate the ability which would at least cost him his next Phase and prevent him from doing it at all if he'd already gone.  I may play test this during our next session to see how the group feels about it.  I'm worried about copy cat syndrome.  Trigger seriously impacts action economy and is like very cheap units of speed.

The same guy already bought a trigger so that whenever he blocks an attack it fires of a HKA counter-attack.  Block + attack is much stronger than Block then attack first next phase.

I also like the idea of combining that with a DEX contest along the lines of holding a phase to strike an enemy when they get close.  You don't automatically go first so there's a DEX contest to determine the order of events.

HERO is good about not having a lot of absolutes so I like to have some sort of roll involved rather than complete immunity.

My point was more and more people wait to see movies.  Heck, I personally know Marvel movie fans who are waiting for the Endgame rental or bluray.  I can think of 5 movies off the top of my head right now that I'm waiting for, but I'd probably see at the theater if I had no other choice.

Comparing box office numbers before the wide spread use of home video and after is apples and oranges IMO.

I've had this come up with LS:  All terrestrial toxins vs. The Stabbing Beast (avatar of a death god) who's scorpion stinger and spray blinding poison.  Sorry, sir, your LS: terrestrial poisons doesn't make you immune to poison-based attacks nor flashes.

Had another guy add a trigger to his teleport so it would let him teleport away from harm when targeted by AoE attacks w/out the drawbacks of Dive for Cover.  Sorry, you can't have immunity to AoE damage for the cost of a 3 point multipower slot.

Very open-ended systems like HERO require a commitment to good faith efforts by both the players and the GMs.

Funny!  I say that because my idea of the perfect RPG system entails exactly one book ... of 400 pages or less... resting on a coffee table with no other materials around it.  That's actually -why- I was drawn to Champions: 1st through 3rd Editions were tiny and 4th Edition ended up being exactly what I was looking for, as one book absolutely could do it all.

I think it got kind of ridiculous with 5th Edition (too big) .... and the 2-volume 6th set is absurd in its verbosity ... so colour me pleased to see Champions Complete, since it was a return to what I felt Hero System should be.  You just shouldn't need a crate of books or a directory full of PDF's to play any RPG, IMHO.
