  1. Re: The 10 Most Disgusting Alien Civilizations Thanks Rex, now I've got some more good reading material.
  2. Re: The 10 Most Disgusting Alien Civilizations There are Alien novels? Are they any good and what are their names? Also would the comics be available free online?

Re: Honorverse Did no one see my post?!? Guess that makes me chopped liver.

    Honorverse

Re: Honorverse It's actually not muddled at all. Hyperspace has several bands as had been said before, and the higher "up" you go the faster you go relative to normal space. The trick comes with the fact that hyperspace is not "empty" there are gravity waves going through it. Before the Warshawski sail these were avoided like the plague as they would rip a ship to atoms instantly, but with Warshawski sails this all changed. With Warshawski sails it's possible to take advantage of the enormous power of the gravity waves to achieve accelerations never before possible, making these the best way to travel. Wormholes are highly focused gravity waves, so powerful that maximum accelerations are almost infinity meaning that travel time between two nodes is about 8 minutes no matter the real distance between them.
  7. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... I. Want. Her.
  8. Re: Total NEWB gushing over how amazing this forum is The first one would be some sort of Transform and the second would be either change environment or images? Do I get a biscuit?
  9. Re: Succor Endurance Reserve Thanks guys!
  10. How does succor affect endurance reserve, i.e. if you succor an endurance reserve for 1 point, does the endurance reserve gain 10 points that can be used for whatever is linked to it, or does the max capacity increase without increasing the amount of END in the reserve?
  11. Re: Dragon-riders of Pern First, I love that series, now with that out of the way, the criticism. Only problem that I have with this is the INT value of 8. I thought that 10 was adult human average, and that is what a Dragon of Pern's INT should be, remember, Dragons are as smart as humans.
  12. Re: December 27, 2004: The Day Earth Survived the Greatest Stellar Attack -Ever This is clearly the result of an alien war, and one side's getting pwned, or desperate.
  13. Re: Spaceship Design 101 "Cascading life support malfunction.":ugly:
  14. Re: Giant Ant Lair Ah, thanks.
  15. Re: Giant Ant Lair Reference?
  16. Re: Spaceship Design 101 Perhaps, or perhaps its a holdover from real world warship bridges.
  17. Re: Give Tanks to the Lord The Vatican's newest secret weapon I presume. Seriously though, how fast can the thing go? And isn't it a bit top heavy?
  18. Re: Commandos Field Test ‘Plasma Scalpel’ I'm aware of the industrial plasma cutters, but I was wondering about the performance of the field unit. Thinking of home use where you could effortlessly and safely cut metal tubing and such.
  19. Re: Cool, possibly vapor-ware, new capacitor tech I had heard about the laptop batteries, but didn't realize it was that. . .explosive:nonp:. As for capacitors it was my understanding that without a resistor, they discharged all their energy at once, unlike a battery which does it over a greater period of time. Lastly, Laser pistols, me want one!
  20. Re: Cool, possibly vapor-ware, new capacitor tech Wouldn't a capacitor that huge be very dangerous? Touch both poles of the capacitor accidentally and zap! You're dead? And you can bet someone would be stupid enough to do that deliberately, probably on a triple dog dare.
  21. Re: Commandos Field Test ‘Plasma Scalpel’ That's frackin sweet! Almost like a Star Trekkian laser scalpel. I want one. Wonder how it cuts other materials like wood or steel?
