  1. If I had the same luck with the lottery as getting weird ass medical conditions, I'd already be a millionaire.
  2. You don't actually need a declared war to commit an act of war under the title. I think the real sticking point is intent. Since most of these upstanding citizens have a fuzzy idea of their own intent at best, that's probably hard to prove.
  3. Thor, Hulk and Wanda all seem to be in the same league as Captain Marvel in power. Thor adds in a few centuries of experience on all of them.
  4. The Looming Threat: The Daleks, Doctor Who The Chief's investigation awakens an old menace. His progress is monitored for decades by the tiny tin-plated terrors, and once the Daleks learn of his true goals, they begin to gather, to swarm, to debate, to fear: What if Earthlings gained the power of the Gallifreyans? Must exterminate!
  5. Of course, IANAL. The fact remains that there are a slew of lesser offenses along the same lines, and they probably exist for a reason. Treason's rarely been charged in the history of the country. I just really want to see all these so-and-so's lined up for a firing squad. Here's a more rational article from Vox that has a rundown of the lesser versions: https://www.vox.com/22217973/13-federal-criminal-laws-trump-mob-insurrection-capitol-assault-rebellion-conspiracy
  6. From some random website : *It's from legal publisher NOLO. Whether that says anything or not about the quality, I don't know.
  7. Trying to overthrow the government is usually considered an act of war. Tomato-tomahto.
  8. 18 US Code § 2381: The bolded part: Making war on your own country is treason. Foreign powers need not be involved.
  9. We all need Samantha Carter, my friend. Unfortunately, the wife won't permit it.
  10. That's OK, so was I. I think they need to be charging everyone involved in the break in with murder for at least two of the deaths. If someone robs a store and a death results, the get away driver is also charged. I'm not so sure that the boneheads on the ground can be charged with treason vs. sedition (or if sedition is an actual charge, even, IAANL and don't have time to play one on the internet), but those who've sworn an oath certainly should be.
  11. Bestie: Helen Magnus, Sanctuary There's one professor on the university staff who Niles actually looks forward to interacting with, one Helen Magnus. For one, she's one of a handful who can keep up with his intellect, and follow conversations that might swing from nanites to metaphysics in the blink of an eye. But he also senses in her something of a kindred spirit. She's the only one in his circle on campus with whom he can have a true meeting of the minds.
  12. I was referring more to the treason charges for our elected officials who incited the incident.
  13. Personally, I'm still all for execution as a punishment for treason, if that makes you feel better.
  14. Crush: Annie Edison, Community After graduating Greendale Community College, Annie moved on to a more prestigious institution, where she had Professor Dreamy -- er, Professor Caulder -- for Anthropology 101. Annie has become enamored with the good professor, and has changed her major twice in order to continue taking classes on the wide variety of subjects he teaches. The Chief may, or may not, be aware of her. But Annie will almost certainly follow him into trouble at some point . . .
  15. It's been a minute. How you doing, HeroGM?
  16. I agree with it not becoming the norm, at least to this extent. It already is, to the extent of readily-searchable lists of jail inmates and arrest records, for example. The full charges, etc., being uploaded seems to be the extra step, and I think in this particular case that's a good thing for transparency. Condolences.
  17. It seems to me that as others have said, they've only released information that's in the public record. This information will be gained by public record requests and posted in short order anyway by private parties, given the enormity of the event. By preemptively making the information available, they're being transparent, which is a good thing, considering that conspiracy nuts are being whipped into a frenzy here. There's also an easy way to avoid getting your asshattery posted on the internet by your government: Don't engage in asshattery. Or open sedition. Or criminal trespass leading to five deaths.
  18. Mentor/Instructor/Old Hand: Bob the Skull, (Dresden Files) It's surprising what you can find at garage sales, if you know what garage sales to check. The Chief acquired Bob at a greatly discounted price (or one not yet paid) about a decade before the birth of Chicago's only professional Wizard. Even Niles Caulder was not foolish, nor desperate enough to pursue many of the routes to immortality the spirit of intellect offered up through the years. Those that he had pursued, had been -- no pun intended -- dead ends. (OK, that pun was intended, you can tell by the em-dashes.) What does one do once the vast knowledge of a spirit of intellect has been exhausted? Why, go to the Library. Bob, whether through jealousy or a keen sense of self-preservation, had held on to this option for last, so we now find him reluctantly guiding Niles on a route to gain access to the fabled Library of the Neitherlands.
  19. The Antagonist/Bad Guy: Cosima Niehaus (Orphan Black) If everyone's the hero in their own story, then their opposition must be the bad guy, no matter how well-intentioned. After years of covertly experimenting on, and ruining the lives of, others, the Chief is starting to develop the barest inkling of a guilty conscience. He's doing a stint teaching college to gain access to their labs after his mansion was again destroyed, and his most brilliant student has started to get a whiff of what he's up to. Will she talk him out of his foolhardy plan to attempt to plunder the Library, or will she be tempted to go along with his plan to seek a cure for her own unique condition? Niles has been closely monitoring her due to her unique genetic condition, and to ensure that she doesn't become aware that she's a clone. He's quite confident that his hand isn't visible in that particular project, but there's no harm in multitasking, after all. (Our story begins around 2011, two years before the start of Orphan Black, and eight years before the events of Doom Patrol season 1.)
  20. I found this mashup surprisingly pleasing to the earholes:
  21. Or a more modern "King for a Day" (Cover) (NSFW: Language):
  22. Sorry about the sore mouth, but at least now you're royalty. Of course, it's a temporary crown, so it's like:
