  2. Re: All Your Base Belong to Us You never know until you ask. When my players decided to take over a VIPER base they had uncovered, I cut the cost by the total of the DEF, BODY, and Size that VIPER had already paid. If not, it'll cost 4 more points apiece, or you can cut some stuff to bring it down a point or two.
  3. Re: All Your Base Belong to Us For 4 points apiece, your five heroes can have the Sea Trawler. (You may need a few more apiece if you want to also get a basic computer to help run things.) This barnacle-covered undersea habitat was found sitting on the sea floor, apparently left behind long ago by persons unknown. The habitat has treads, allowing it to travel (verrrrry slowly) along the sea floor, though typically it is left in one spot. This writeup assumes the heroes get to/from the base under their own power or using a submersible that docks with the structure. 6. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... The heroes of S-Squad are still on the trail of the missing soldiers far underground, and Styx captured a super (Cornerstone) who works with the Subterrans. GM: So, what are you doing with the guy you caught? Styx: I'm asking him questions. (mimes beating a head into the ground) Does this hurt? How about this? The heroes followed the soldiers' trail into a large (220 foot tall cylinder about 200 feet in diameter) cylinder buried over a mile underground. (If you've ever played the D&D module Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, that's basically what they're in.) They know the size because of Sentinel's x-ray vision, but it can't penetrate the hull so they're forced to do a more thorough search inside. Serendipity is searching down one corridor, and stops to inspect something lying in the hallway. Luckily, she made a PER roll... GM: You see two spiders coming down from the ceiling. Serendipity: How big? GM: Did you see that Harry Potter movie with the spiders... Serendipity: I take off back down the hall at top speed, yelling "SPIDER!" over the team radio. Cornerstone finally wakes up, and the heroes are discussing what to do if he tries to teleport away. Sentinel: Maybe we can track him. You got a bug? Styx: Yeah. (points back down the hall) Spiders down the hall... After some of the heroes fought a bunch of vegepygmies, basically small semi-sentient vegetable life forms: GM: So, what did you guys do with the vegepygmies you knocked out? Synergy: I guess they're tied up. *I* didn't kill any. (turns to Squeeze) Did you? Squeeze (sheepish grin): I thought they were dangerous... The heroes find and rescue a British cave explorer (Barry Pethwick) who found the buried spaceship four years ago and has been a captive of the vegepygmies ever since. The heroes learned Pethwick is able to communicate with the vegepygmies. Squeeze: So, how intelligent are they? Pethwick: The vegepygmies have instinctual intelligence, like animals. It's akin to talking to a very bright monkey. Or a Frenchman. The heroes take Pethwick to the medical area for treatment by a medical android (female form) they found earlier. This time, they have a working language translator and are talking to it. Squeeze: Have you ever heard of Mechanon? Synergy (OOC imitating the female android): Oh, he's dreamy! Next door, the heroes run into a berserk surgical android. Android: Ah, my patient! We must prepare you for surgery! Styx: Exactly which surgical procedure are you going to perform? Android (pause): All of them! Heroes are jokingly discussing the surgical procedures awaiting Styx. Squeeze: Hernia... Synergy: Sex change... Best taken out of context: Styx: Mmmmmm! Chief goes good with ranch dressing!

  8. Re: Value of AVLD I personally agree, which is why my initial writeup had NND Does BODY. I only changed it to a 4d6 HKA because Checkmate said he didn't want to do NND Does BODY.
  9. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Wayne Industries begins manufacturing and giving out free lead-lined underwear to all women in Metropolis.
  10. Re: seeking the seeker To add to DT's info, the running gag in 4th edition came from several covers where Seeker was either already KO'd or clearly outmached.
  11. Re: Value of AVLD So, amending my earlier build to fit things said afterward: Cut through nonliving: 4D6 HKA (5d6+1 with STR), Reduced END (0 END, +1/2), OAF (-1), Does no damage to organics (-3/4) = 33 points + Impact damage: 6d6 HA, AVLD (+3/4, defense is organic PD), Does BODY (+1), Reduced END (Half END, +1/4), OAF (-1), Linked to HKA (-1/2), HA Limitation (-1/2) = 30 points. This drops the NND Does BODY from the HKA, as Checkmate indicated, and adds Does BODY and drops Does No Damage to Inorganics from the HA.
  12. Re: Value of AVLD The problem with the Multipower (at least, IMO) is that it's one or the other. With the way he described the sword, if I was wearing plate mail, it would slice through it but not slice through me -- however, it would hurt me (STUN only). The Multipower would either (1) slice the plate mail but do nothing at all to me, or (2) hurt me, but do nothing at all to the plate mail. I think a Linked attack fits better. For example: Cut through nonliving: 2D6 HKA (3d6+1 with STR), NND (+1, defense is organic matter), Does BODY (+1) Reduced END (0 END, +1/2), OAF (-1) = 52 points + Hurt the living: 6d6 HA, AVLD (+3/4, defense is organic PD), OAF (-1), Does no damage to inorganics (-1/2), Linked to HKA (-1/2) = 15 points. Against Mechanon, the sword would do the HKA damage to the mechanized menace, like a hot knife through butter. Against Defender, the sword would seriously damage his battlesuit (HKA damage to the OIF) and hurt him underneath (poor Defender only gets his natural PD against the HA). Against Windstorm, the HKA does nothing at all, but the HA bypasses his non-living "wind force field" and he only gets his natural PD against that damage. Against Grond, the HKA does nothing at all, and most of the HA damage is deflected by his natural armor. Against the first Terminator robot, the skin covers the metal completely (so the HKA does no damage), and the robot is inorganic (so the HA does no damage). At least, that's my take on it.
