  1. Honestly, hadn't thought about wether the DVD or videocassette would be destroyed by use. Considering the movies he picks are reasonably easy to find, is it really that much of a limitation? Anyway, thanks for your help. I'm looking forward to players reactions for when I sic Darth Vader on em.
  2. An interesting post to be sure. It's given me an idea for a villain. An as yet unnamed fellow who can summon monsters and villains from videocassettes and DVDs. He could be a comedic villain or an exceptionally scary one depending upon what movies he has at anyone time. Any ideas on how I could build such a character?
  3. The only way I would run Nebula in my campaign is to start a murder mystery in order to discover who killed her. The characters I play would likely to busy celebrating her demise to assist however.
  4. Gamarye: "I decline to answer on the grounds that my current girlfriend will do me severe bodily harm." Twilight: "Ditto."
  5. That one's easy. Nebula. To my mind she's the most loathsome villain in CKC in my opinion, just for her willingness to banish somebody to a hell dimension for the most minor infractions. "You crossed against the lights off to hell you go!" ZAP "Littering, that's an offence! TO THE HELL DIMENSION!" ZAP "You dare express an opinion counter to my own and defend those spitters on sidewalks? False hero, TO THE HELL DIMENSION!" ZAP Everything about her just screams: CHARACTER WHO NEEDS TO DIE!!
  6. Well at the moment I can't really say. My Golden Age game didn't last long enough for the big bad there to be revealed, though I feel that Professor Peril would've been a very worthy big bad indeed. Obviously, I'm not going to give out to many details about the possible modern day campaign I may get started, aside from the fact that it's in Millenium City and Dr. D is still belived dead. However I'm hoping that my mystery villain would be capable of holding that position once he's actually revealed.
  7. No, the cheering of the parent of said five year old will stop quick. The other people on the street will continue cheering just as loudly, while making nasty comments about the inability of the parent to control thier child.
  8. The only problem with that scenario is that all the adults on said street would be cheering wildly and yelling "Hit him HARDER!"
  9. I found Harry's attitude distressing but understandable given the circumstances. Nobody likes being kept out of the loop after all and I imagine living with the Dursleys only made things worse. I'm sure if Harry hadn't been required to put up with Professor Umbridge all year [a character who manages to be more annoying then Professor Quirrel, Professor Lockhart and Rita Skeeter COMBINED] then he'd probably had gotten rid of the tude sooner. And yes, there would be a school in Salem.
  10. Well I imagine that most British Commonwealth countries would handle the whole wizard/muggle thing the way Britain does and the fourth book suggested that most of Europe handled it the same way. I can imagine that the US would handle it much differently. I don't imagine US wizards would be open about what they do, but I'd imagine there's likely less stigma attached to being less then pure blooded as well. Also, I imagine that in the US and Canada [possibly Canada more so then the US] there could be a schism between the government regulated position on wizardry [wherein muggles and wizards are kept far apart] and the various Native cultures who are more likely to be open to magic and not hide it. Wether or not that schism is a violent one or not, is something I leave to the GM.
  11. *is far to busy taking notes to pat himself on the back. Has the special mystery villain do it for him*
  12. Assault's idea does sound good, and I hasten to point out that the SSS monicker was a very temporary one that I came up with late one night when I was operating with very little sleep. I think "Think Tank" sounds good for an unofficial name for the ARGENT head council. Chief Coordination Council sounds like something the actual members of said Council would chose.
  13. So far so good, thanks Hermit and Lord Liaden for your excellent ideas. Feel free to come up with some more. Also, any ideas on what the leader of ARGENT would be called? I myself have been calling him/her/it the Supreme Silver Scientist but I'm hoping somebody can come up with a better suggestion.
  14. Don't forget a vulnerability to virgins who don't drink, smoke, swear or do drugs. At least a 2x STUN and BODY judging by the movies.
  15. Ok the question here is simple, I'm thinking of starting a game set in Millenium City and part of that game is obviously going to involve ARGENT [as you may have guessed from the subject ] but I'm not sure how best to use them. After all, I don't want them to seem like just a Viper clone or AIM wannabes or something. So what I'm asking is, do any of you have ideas for effectively using ARGENT?
  16. No no no you silly boy, the genetically altered lab mouse runs ARGENT, everybody knows that.
  17. I don't think the setting is too clean or too perfect at all. After all you still have the mafia, you still have Viper and you have PSI running around trying to weasel thier way into any type of power that they can. Crime is still prevalent, it just has to tinker with a small chip in it's getaway cars now. Racism and intolerance is still there despite the change to Millenium City from Detroit [not that it'll be touched on much in any game I run, those topics make me uncomfortable and I'd be likely running a Silver Age campaign.] Sure there's a little bit more control but it's not exactly Orwellian now is it? Anyway, here are the basic reactions of various characters I play: Twilight is pretty much a street level crimefighter, who carries a crossbow with trick arrows and various gadgets most notably the goggles he wears. He flies around on a rocket sled similar to the Green Goblin's. He'd be impressed with how the people of the city managed to set thier lives straight after the destruction of thier city, finding it quite inspiring. He'd love all the technology and such, but recognise the troubles still prevalent in the city. He'd like it there, but realise that it isn't perfect. Friedan Retter realises this place has shadows just like any other city, thus Millenium City can provide a home for him just as well as any other city can. Sure it looks brighter on the outside, but there is still scum and corruption for him to root from the shadows and destroy for the good of the people who live here. All in all he probably wouldn't have any special attachment to Millenium City though he would definetly defend it with his life if the situation required it. Gamarye [formally Kid Mystic]: "It's a nice place really, good restaurants, excellent scenery and all. If Vibora Bay didn't need me so much, I might stay here sometime when it wasn't being attacked by things man wasn't meant to know." *goes off to battle the Crowns of Krim*
  18. Shouldn't that be a Detect Campers who've recently had sex bonus? I mean from the very few times I've actually watched those movies, those are the ones he seems to go after even though other targets may be around that might be easier. For example: In the fourth movie Jason goes after the people upstairs who've just had sex even though the dork watching the porno flick downstairs would logically be an easier target. Perhaps he should have a Psych Lim concerning that tendency?
  19. It wasn't difficulty that kept Harry from being able to do Crucio well, it was psych lims and such. To put it simply, Harry is a nice person and thus couldn't dredge up the sort of negative feelings required to cast Crucio with 100% effectiveness. Recall when the Death Eater he cast it on told him: "Righteous indignation won't hurt me for long." The impression I got is that only really sick bastards can get the full effect of the Crucio spell, which is why it's an unforgiveable curse.
  20. I think what he meant was that stories by Morrison AND Kurt Busiek's Astro City where what got him back into comics again.
  21. Not funny to me, the way they seem to be butchering Thor's character at the moment I probably wouldn't be keeping up either, if I collected it. Wouldn't it be nice if they recalled continuity and ended this storyline by having Thor and the Asgardians needing to swallow thier pride and rely on Katie Power to save thier collective behinds?
  22. On the other hand, it was sort of made up for when Beta Ray Bill and Thor had to channel the power of thier respective hammers into Katie Power in order to defeat Kurse. I mean really the big bad cosmic heroes have to rely on a six year old girl in order to defeat the big bad guy. Too bad that didn't serve as a lesson in humility for old Goldilocks though, if it did we might not have this ridiculous Asgard storyline going on at the moment.
  23. Or he'll simply say: "Only an intellect as brilliant as mine would have caught that error in time." Then alter the plan and succeed anyway.
  24. Interesting. I'm not to knowledgable about the automoton rules though. Is there a less complicated way to do it?
  25. Ok I was just looking through a Soul Calibur 2 website and I was curious, how would you create Ivy's Valentine Sword using the HERO system? For those unfamiliar with Soul Calibur the Valentine Sword is a sword created via alchemy which has the qualities of both a sword and a chain whip. In addition, it has a base intelligence of it's own. I'm wondering as I'm planning on having a possible character of mine use such a weapon.
