  1. I once saw a sign saying "Enforced by Aircraft". Needless to say there was a lot of neck craning going on in the car.
  2. I like to say "apparently".
  3. Well, he did help them get the best young pitcher coming out of Japan. Again, I suspect that Ippei is falling on his sword for Ohtani. And I do like Ohtani. I think he is the type of player we want our stars to be, humble, a good teammate, does everything he can to help his team win, is good with fans/press and always seems to be enjoying playing baseball. I think this is something that will follow him around for awhile, even if it supposedly is all on Ippei.
  4. and the cynic in me really wonders about his interpreter betting 5 mil over 2 years himself or placing bets for Ohtani as a go between. Of course, I have to wonder why they are using an illegal bookie as opposed to somewhere legitimate. Again though, I doubt, unless it is really pushed, we will ever know. I suspect, even if it is the case, that Ippei and the Bookie get richer in their accounts and take the fall over it.
  5. The story has changed a bit now, from what I understand. Now he gave the money to Ippei to pay off gambling debts, not stolen. Also, others being questioned in the investigation have supposedly said they saw Ohtani with the bookie. First point I would make is if there are no bets on baseball this should be a non-story. But, if he is using Ippei as a go between to place bets and it comes out those were on baseball, wow, because a precedent has already been set with the man who has the most hits in baseball history. I suspect Ippei and the Bookie fall on their swords for Ohtani with a little more money in their bank accounts, because I no longer believe that his interpreter spent $5 million dollars on gambling in the last 2 years. I hate this as a fan of baseball and Ohtani, because he is, by all accounts, a good guy. It also makes me wonder if Arte Moreno (who I can believe was also cheap enough to not match the offer, so who knows) knew something and was why he made only token resistance to Ohtani walking away.
  6. I have seen seen but if I hadn't I would wonder what Vulcans eat to give them gas like this.
  7. And they are praying that it doesn't turn out he was placing them for Ohtani. Sad though, from everything every player on Angels said, he was a great guy.
  8. Ah, of course. even says on package, had just never heard of it so thought that was a description
  9. ok, I recognize half the people in that picture. What movie is that from?
  10. Ok, serious question about Cricket. I enjoyed when I could watch Big Bash from Australia, but sadly don't get to watch much anymore. My brother recently got a channel that shows a lot of cricket and the question is this: Why does it seem like there are only 2 guys per team that can hit/bat well? You constantly see that the first 2 batsmen score like 100+ between them, yet everyone else behind them feels like they struggle to match that amongst them all. I am sure there must be a reason for this and maybe the perception is wrong, but I have wondered this also.
  11. And sadly, I think I fit all 3 of those, though haven't seen Dune II yet, I really want to. I just have the problem of during tax season I am working 6 days a week and on my 1 day off, I rarely feel like going anywhere.
  12. I am in part 2, where Esra is 13. I like how he is using the opening of this series to "humanize the Goblins". I also really like Niblik. I tend to do the audiobooks, and Tim Gerard Reynolds is an amazing reader, one of the better ones I have heard. After finishing this book, I am seriously thinking of going back to Riyria Revelations with an understanding of how this series and the Age of Legends fits into what happened. The whole series could be taken as the character arcs of 2 characters (3 I guess if you include Trilos): Morn DuLay and Torin (Kyle, Malcom, Uberlin, etc.) Is fascinating and I can't wait to see what he does next.
  13. I have been listening to Noleyn and then Faralin, just started Esrahaddan, by Michael J Sullivan set in his world of Elan. These predate the Riyeria books and post date the Rise of the empire series. They are the transitions from the age of legends to Riryeria books and how we got there. They have some serious gut punches, but if fans of his other books, as I am, I highly recommend.
  14. After losing Osprey to AEW, apparently NJPW has also lost Okada to AEW. That is 2 very big holes to fill for them.
  15. Everytime I hear they want to remake that movie I cringe thinking of what someone else's "vision" would do to it.
  16. could have been worse, could have said she wants to feed you to her nine ferrets, or was that implied. I mean, some of these library late fees can be very strict.
  17. I smell discrimination lawsuit. I suspect there are a number of lawyers trying to find phone numbers right now.
  18. I think only match that surprises me was the BCC vs FTR, given they were fighting in an arena known for the great tag teams and FTR's home state. Since the rift is about FTR looking at the past and the BCC looking at the future, this seemed like a good spot for an FTR win. Not a fan of his, necessarily, but White is being wasted in this group, but its a problem of too many wrestlers in AEW and not enough room at the top. I also, sort of, expected them to give Swerve the title (of course, that would have been rewarding a guy who brags about breaking into another man's home and threatening his year old child), but not surprised they didnt and having the Bucks, after all they did (and honestly, I feel like AEW doesn't know what to do with them)beat Allin and Sting in his last match would have seemed to be stupid. Having Osprey win gives him the chance to leave Callis, and since they had O'Reilly show up, I wonder if he won't be forming a new United Empire or something. The 8 man match apparently was put together quickly after another match fell through called Meat Madness Match.
  19. I liked Steve Martin's Dead Men don't wear Plaid too. the interspersing of the noir scenes if fun, especially as I recognized all of them.
  20. It's too bad the death of Fred Gwynne didn't allow them to do the follow up. Rumor had it that the Judge reached out to Vinny when he had legal problems. Pesci and Gwynne's on screen chemistry was so good and played off each other so well, would have loved to see it.
  21. the day there can be a picture of HU on first and Wat on second would be the best.
  22. Aikman isn't bad either, though he has become less so in recent years. Romo reminds me of Aikman when he was younger. Their analysis was usually spot on and they weren't afraid to call players or coaches out for decisions/plays, say unlike Collinsworth, whom I really liked on the hbo show but as an announcer he tries to hard to not insult anyone. I really want him to start talking about receivers who drop easy passes too often, because that was something as a receiver he never did.
