  1. Hmm, was thinking back to the Captain Marr-Vell storyline where he allowed himself to die from Cancer, and the cancerverse storyline that came from a universe where he didn't. Since they didnt really introduce him in the MCU, I wonder if they couldn't use Jane for that same role, provided they chose to do that storyline at all. Just occured to me a while back, especially as they are still planning to introduce Adam Warlock and have already introduced the multiverse.
  2. The Hook/Ricky thing was great. Ricky offering the fist bump at the end was perfect when you remember Hook is Taz's son and was part of their group for awhile. I actually do not find Danhausen funny or entertaining, but mainly because I don't believe he is a very good wrestler and they don't sell his "curse" power. He could have been like the hypnotic character from the One and Only (Henry Winkler) but have chosen not to sell it. I like Hook and think he will seriously go over. I love that "he doesn't get paid by the minute" style and crushes fodder. I really think he could fill a Hitman style role - best technical wrestler.
  3. I was more thinking Kingston interference causes Jericho to get a disqualification win, so Moxley loses but keeps title. I agree on CMPunk and Moxley. Saddest part, I really enjoy, most the time, Jericho in the booth with Taz and the gang. I like that AEW's Heel announcers (Taz, Jericho, they had Ricky Starks sitting in a while with them) announce like Heels, ie yes shortcuts are fine, but they also analyze like veteran wrestlers and give props when they are due. So different then the old "I didn't see anything" style of announcing. By the Way, anyone know the status of Kenny Omega? I haven't even seen Adam Cole recently.
  4. Watching Dynamite, and now Jericho getting a title shot with Moxley. Hope they don't give him title, but I bet will cause rift with Moxley and Kingston somehow, like Jericho willl get win because of Kingston interference.
  5. Sadly, you mean the CW series being reshown on HBO. but yes, a good representaiton of superman.
  6. Actually, apparently the English Women's team was doing so against Spain in the early going quite a bit, including when Julie Fowdy was commenting that the player was holding the wrong ankle. Otherwise, I would have agreed with you. Also, having been watching the south american championships, there is a bit of this.
  7. Imagine a soccer player watching? He would figure is a fictional movie.
  8. I could see Alcantra (of the younger pitchers) making it, but I get his point. with analytics saying you don't face order 3rd time, a lot of pitchers are leaving before 6th inning or 5th ends. Also, lot of late rallies. I actually think 300 strikeouts will be tough, for same reason, lot of strikeouts but not as many batters faced. And hey, shouldn't Ohtani be eligible for a silver slugger in the games he pitches and hits?
  9. And considering the risk they took in hiring him after the Astro thing and suspension, will really make the players look bad. Not sure what is going on with their defense, but I think getting Sale back and then losing him again was a gut punch to the team.
  10. And will probably get it, Soto is that good. Sadly, the same type might get Ohtani out of Anaheim and my world will get dimmer. Nevin will not survive after the season, I suspect a full coaching change up, and hopefully a hitting coach who will get these guys out of their own heads, because it becomes obvious watching they are guessing, wrongly a lot, on pitches and trying to hit HRs on everything with only a few exceptions. If I were Moreno and Minasian, when they go to replace the managers and coaches, you better have a long talk with Ohtani if you want to keep him and if he suggests bringing his old Japanese manager over, do it if he will resign. Ohtani is one of those players that more then pays for himself through merchandise, ticket sales, TV contract etc. even if his value takes you over the threshhold. Pujols, when they got him was like that, hence why they were willing to pay him that much. Trout was like that. There are players who transcend the game and their contracts, right now, Ohtani is that guy. Judge in NY (and I have heard the argument he means more there then anywhere else), so if they don't pony up, and there is a chance they won't, he will leave just like Freeman left Atlanta when no one thought he would.
  11. So, looks like Namor is introduced in Black Panther - Atlantis vs Wakanda apparently. Cool Beans, will make me miss Boseman more.
  12. Eh, I don't blame the CF. There are times, and anyone who has seen a game in California can testify, where a high, whitish clowdy sky makes the ball impossible to see. What was needed was one of the 2 side fielders to be screaming at him to go back. Ohtani will only be traded if someone blows the Angels away with a package that could literally rebuild their team in a year, I really hope it doesn't happen, but I also think, barring a miracle that he will not resign with them. They basically can't commit money to anyone else to build up the team (if his contract doesn't start at 50 mil a year, I would be shocked) with already Trout at 35mil (and he is becoming injury prone, it feels like) and Rendon (who is turning into a bust as a guy who came to them having played the most games in the prior 3 years now having played the least in the 3 he has been with the angels) at 30+mil. Some of our young pitching looks like might be good - Sandoval, Detmers, Suarez (hit and miss) and Canning and Rodriguez (both on IL and probably not back till next season). I just don't know if they have enough to compete even next year. <Rant on as fan of Angels>It didnt help that they signed 4 bullpen "studs" (Iglesias, Loup, Bradley and Tepera) and all 4 had subpar season. during the Angels 14 game losing streak, at least 5 of those games, those 4 guys were given leads late and could not hold up. Add that to the back slide of Walsh and Stassi, injury to Fletcher and really the disappointment of Marsh and Adell as future stars. some of this could be pointed straight at the new dead ball, as their power seems to have disappeared at the warning track<rant off>.
  13. would only have been nicer if happened to the Yankees, but i will take Boston.
  14. Shouldn't the example be We'd've met Y'all there if'n Y'all'd've just waited.
  15. Don't forget Rendon, though I wish he had stayed given he can't stay healthy for my Angels and when he has, has been less then stellar and his contract may cost any chance of resigning Ohtani. Now there is lots of talk of trading Ohtani and basically getting an entire team for him since he is under control thru next year. Soto is under control for 2 more years, so they should get a boatload for him also, and as one writer pointed out, because of the 3 playoff run control, even teams who may not be able to resign him could make a trade, then flip him next year if they are out of it or the year after.
  16. Looks a lot like Australian Football only with a soccer goal and ball. The hungover commentator is funny though.
  17. I suspect it has more to do with the above stories then his age. Though maybe the Thank You is sincere, or perhaps a So Long, Suckers! in another way. So, Fyter Fest, again have Kingston/Jericho (we all knew everyone was going to charge in at some point, so no worries there). The Anna Jay swerve was unexpected, but they haven't really known what to do with her for awhile and Dark Order needs to disband (half seem to have done so) or become what they started as, a group of 2nd level guys needing an A-list leader to bring them together. Finally, again they missed a chance to resolve Kingston/Jericho, having everyone interfere, get taken out by Kingston's friends, him seeming to have Jericho locked down and beat and of course Sammy shows up to help steal the victory. This feud needs to end, and Eddie needs a decisive victory over Chris. Eddie is not a mainliner, Chris's slights about this aren't untrue, but this feud, with all that has gone on, needs a Kingston win over Jericho. AEW has plenty of top level and secondary guys. I like Kingston, but this is ridiculous, and as was mentioned above, Jericho can afford to lose to him, I don't think Kingston can survive, popularity wise, the way this is going.
  18. All I can think is no other team knew of this in advance, cause I guarantee any team that will try to trade for him would have said "and let us charter you a plane to LA".
  19. Great win for England, but it showed how much Spain was missing their number one striker. a 2nd goal at any point and they put that game away, since they controlled the ball for most the game.
  20. Went and saw Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. I try to do a movie each week to give me somewhere to go 1nce a week. It is basically Blazing Saddles if Clevon Little's Sheriff was Hong Kong Fooey (meaning not really competent, especially at start, and not that bright).
  21. Good article. I often joke that at this point a "bad" Marvel movie (like Pixar to me) is still better then 60% of the stuff released. Also, I really don't think it can be underestimated with big screen tvs and Covid stuff still going on, how much these movies being released on Disney+ are affecting box office. Pay $30 at home for you and the kids to watch or go to theater and spend over that on tickets alone, not to mention snacks etc. Also, the loss of Russia and China markets is also very big, as can be seen by the numbers in that article. I went and saw Paws of Fury: The legend of Hank and our local theater was empty. weekday, afternoon, but summer. Now, I live in a relatively small town and the theater isn';t usually that busy, but no kids?
  22. Not to mention they already have a rule in place to discourage trying to time the starter. When they changed the false start rules from being 2 false starts per individual equals disqualification to 2 false starts per group (meaning the 2nd false start in a group) leads to that individual being disqualified, I have to believe that would be enough. to say that anyone leaving after the gun is a false start removes the whole point. this is a stupid rule.
  23. Nice of the shark to return the camera after dinner.
  24. One reason for the discrepancy in income, teams negotiate their local tv contracts, so when you have Yankees and Yes network, Dodgers with Fox/Ballys, Cubs for years with WGN, Atlanta with TBS or TNT (?). Then what happens is, like the Dodgers, they negotiate a tv contract that is obnoxious, why?, because part of same ownership so money isn't really going anywhere. I agree that the low end teams need to spend more, especially as, iirc, most of that competitive balance tax goes to them, but sadly baseball has become either be great or be terrible, don't try to just compete.
