  1. So, who has seen the movie and read the book? Opinions? I am almost done with tax season and only 2 movies I have seen are Black Panther (thought was excellent and a very good addition to the MCU) and Tomb Raider (made me want to go play the new reboots again, not sure I am happy about the relatively unskilled Lara). I am hoping to still catch in theaters RP1, Pacific Rim uprising and Rampage.
  2. Bird's directing of the Mission Impossible 4 saved that series to me. I liked 5 a little better, but 4 was so much better then 1-3. Tomorrowland wasn't horrid, just wasn't good. Never read Ayn Rand, so can't comment on that part.
  3. I think you mean from Fox(?). I don't believe Marvel Studios has had a shot at the FF yet.
  4. So far, he has and looks good. He appears to have dropped 30 or so pounds and seems to be running better. I like the Angels depth in their lineup now. 7-3 is the best they have started in 15 years, as they are usually a slow starting team. I was saying to my brother that Ohtani is probably a better fit for them then most contenders as they more then most needed someone at the back end who was a legitimate threat. I think most teams would love his pitching, but few needed his bat like the Angels did.
  5. I liked that the "twist" was setup well. I commented early how similar the 2s style were, and it was explained well.
  6. I think Angels will depend on the health of their rotation. They got bit in first game by same thing that seems to happen to them a lot, this time Richards, but could have been 1st game out of spring and tiring, especially as he hasn't really pitched for 2 years. 3rd time through lineup, 5th inning, they seem to give up 2 out walks and homeruns to let other team back in games or fall behind. Happened again. And, judging by first game, as fan(atic)s are supposed to - Mike Trout sucks and should be benched. Cole Kalhoun should be an all-star. Cozart might actually turn into the best signing of the off-season for them. His versatility (playing 2nd with Kinsler having nagging groin given extra day) despite mainly playing 3rd and some short all spring showed a lot. Ohtani looks like you could get him out on away pitches all the time. He has that falling back long looping swing - sort of Ichiro but longer arc to swing, so not sure his outside coverage is great. Strangely, they keep trying to pitch him inside.
  7. Hmm, purple, is this where Thanatos landed in the next Avengers movie?
  8. I like limiting number of "visits" to the mound. Watching a catcher walk out to the mound every other pitch is boring as hell and brings the game to a crawl.Especially as they are including the "every player in the infield" has to visit the pitcher once an inning it seems. I am waiting for one of the outfielder to have to come in to talk to him every third inning or so too.
  9. Jeremy Renner, the Legacy actor whose series never come about. He was also supposed to replace Cruise as the lead in the Mission Impossible movies (after his intro in MI:4). I wonder if they considered letting Hawkeye become Cap in marvel.
  10. I liked Bane for what he was originally, which is a physically powerful crime lord who was also smart and tactically intelligent. He was there to break the bat so they could switch to Azrael. the writers then did a good job of creating a villain to do that. He setup Bats to wear himself down on all his other villains before confronting him. I have not liked him since. To me, he was the equivalent of Wolverine in X-Men when they started. Great for the first few stories/run, but not making sense as a multiple group member. Bane was a great 1 shot villain. He was far from the character in Batman forever.
  11. Sadly, I can't get to a movie for a bit due to tax season schedule, but I am curious. As a fan of the recent video game reboot, have you played it? I was wondering how similar the movie was to the new storylines.
  12. So, who is the woman in both pictures in the background?
  13. I think one problem is, I don't think of ares as the villain of Wonder Woman. I think of the German general and Doctor poison.
  14. Hmmm, that will be very annoying since almost only thing I use my friends Netflix for is to watch the marvel shows. Not sure those are worth me paying for a service for.
  15. So, as we used to say about Shakespeare, comedy in the sense not EVERYONE dies.
  16. I am actually now at the point where the big battle is going on. It's funny, and Simon will get this, but when my brother told me about the choice they get that is used in the final battle, my first thought was to use the one being used by the head bad guy.
  17. My brother actually was really annoyed with Ragnarok. He couldn't get past Thor and Hulk making quips and then a scene flashing to Thor's friends and people being slaughtered by Hel.
  18. My brother commented on how much he was glad they continued T'Challa's path of rising above just seeking revenge. That the movie, although about revenge, wasn't JUST about revenge.
  19. So, I have been reading the book on my brothers suggestion prior to the movie being released. First 10% or so is a slog as he gives description to where the world is at the time. Otherwise, very enjoyable. I especially like the 60s - 80s references in the book. I am at where he got the 3rd key, so I don't believe that is a spoiler. I have not finished the book yet. This brings me to my 2 questions: The previews make it look VERY Hunger Games in him leading an army. Maybe that happens in book and the previews are just focusing on it. Do we think that "Suits" make the movie focus on this? Will they keep the obscure 80s video and RPG references or will "Suits" say they are too obscure and force a change to more mainstream?
