  1. Wanted: Death-O-Mat Seeking one Death-O-Mat for latest megalomaniacal plan. Must be able to destroy most powerful do-gooders and interveners. Price: Negotiable. Ask no question, get no answer. Contact: 1-636-555-4785
  2. Re: I need a function! the quark inverter This simple device was discovered on the moon Europa by a group of kids out for a fun time. At first they did not realize exactly what they had and treated it as though they would any other toy. While they were taking it with them in their personal spacecar they somehow activated it and found that they were suddenly in the area of Pluto. After figuring out what happened and how to get back, they took the device to the local university and the university figured out that by some means unknown the device will allow someone to travel extreme distances in an instant, possibly lightyears distant. Other tests proved that it operates by folding space at the quark level and making temporary wormholes that a single ship to travel through. It became known as the quark inverter for this ability. For a long time it was the primary means for allowing ships to travel interstellar distances and made humans able to colonize the first colonies outside Sol System and make more discoveries. Now to play with: QCD
  3. Here is an amusing concept. At the end of each post a device will be put down then the next post will have to identify what the device does. This device could be a vehicle, weapon, suit, whatever as long as it is not a living being. Example: Drioun: A mystical artifact that at its most basic level will cause a dry zone that inhibits powers that work off of cold or ice. With the proper magic roll and power this basic ability can be expanded to include anything that involves dryness. Lets get started with: Dreamcatcher
  4. As defined in their initial appearance the Borg were supposed to be all but indestructible. They possess a speed that none could match, a regeneration that would heal damage almost as soon as it was made, hulls would almost completely absorb the entire blast of multiple torpedoes, in short there was nothing that the Enterprise could do to damage the Borg and if they were damaged their regen systems would heal the damage almost instantly. Other appearances would weaken them to the point that the Federation could destroy them. According to the original appearance were the Borg truly indestructible? All comments welcome, either side accepted.
  5. Everybody knows the law in physics that states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So this is where I need your assistance. How would I go about creating a character that has only one ability: to use this law to its fullest extent. Every time that this character is hit with any power, either beneficial or detrimental, will give the opposite effect. An attack power will heal damage or grant additional body equal to the damage rolled. A healing power will harm the character by an amount equal to the amount rolled. This is where I need your help. How would I create this power? If it is a group of powers Let me know which powers to use. Would it be more efficient (costwise) to make a powersuit that has this ability than to make the power innate.
  6. Re: Super Football The QB (brick) passes to the LB (teleporter). LB teleports to goal. He celebrates a successful goal. The ref informs him that the ball was left where he teleported from and has been intercepted by the opposition. Here is another idea for super-football: Disallow any power that directly interferes with another's movement, this includes things like entangles, mind control, illusions, and slick surfaces.
  7. In the conventional supers-verse, the NFL decides to start a new league - the Super League. The rules will be all the same but the use of most superpowers will be allowed. The only things that are not allowed will be flying, ranged powers, and mental powers. The field size will be ten times larger to account for the use for greater speeds and super-strong throws. Also the field will be surrounded by a force field that is only meant to protect the spectator in the case that a throw or kick will happen to fly into the crowd. How would this go over? Would the other sports try to copy the concept in their sport? Is there anything else that would be needed to make this go over properly? Any other suggestion would be appreciated.
  8. There is a young person who walks casually up to your team's HQ. He does not mean any harm to anyone or anything. In fact he proves after a brief demo that he does possess a power or ability that would be beneficial to the team but is not at a power level that would allow him to survive at the same level that your team normally operates at. The only request that he has is to become a protégé for the team. What would your team do in this case?
  9. Re: Help with Serial Killer story 1) He kills in order to please his mother. In the same Psychotic manner that Jack Nickolson did to please his dead mother. 2) He uses various devious in tourcher implements all which he creates from not only his sick demented personality but also common everyday objects, i.e. a corkscrew. 3) Someone enters what he believes to be his dead mother's body and convinces him the error of his ways.

    Super City

Re: Super City Everyone needs some place to unwind after a day of battling the villains. Terrizian's Super Club An open club to anyone with superpowers, whether innate, tech, magic, or whatever. While they claim to possess a no-fight rule, there is never any repercussions when one breaks out. As a result, it is a place where one is just as likely to meet and pummel their hunted as they are to actually get the R&R that brought them there.
  11. Re: What's in a Name? Shockabrenitolikenus "Shock" was the commander of a renegade team that was being pursued across space. They were flying passed a primitive planet that seemed as though it would be a good place to hide out for a while. What they did not realize was that the planet was more developed than they thought and their ship was picked up on its scanners. When they discovered that the planet had dispatched primitive combat aircraft to investigate them, they tried to communicate with the aircraft but got no response. Finally the aircraft deployed missiles that (after several misses) hit and severally damaged several important functions that caused the ship to crash. Only Shock was able to get out before teams from the planet found the crash site and retrieve to other members. At the same time of the crash, someone known only as Awe was traveling near the small Iowa town when he felt a low level rumble and seconds later saw a cloud of dust rise. Several minutes later when he arrived at the location that he assumed to be the source, he saw one figure hobbling from what looked like a severely banged air (space?) craft. He assisted the figure away from the craft just as the USAF arrived on the scene. Now the two are on the run, Shock because (as reported) had committed several murders and Awe for aiding and abetting a fugitive. Now lets have fun with this common item: Teflon
  12. Re: Evil Organizaitons Here is an idea that does not get enough play in most games that I have played in: This group calls themselves the Environmentology Society. They are trying to protect the Earth from any force that would try to do harm to it. Unfortunately the lifeforms that do the most damage is humans so they must teach humanity the errors of their way, or kill anyone who does not learn that lesson. Minions are humans and other animals that they have trained in the pro-Earth ways that they believe will bring about the future of Earth, regardless if humans are a part of that future or not. They do not care what nationality, race, origin, super, or anything else that person hails from, especially since they will usually kidnap babies at birth and raise them in Society ways and beliefs and anyone not from the Society is an Earth Destroyer (ED) and needs to be treated accordingly. The greatest weaknesses of the Society is that they will not listen to reason or any force that is not within the Society, even if that force is powerful enough that they could smash their way through any defenses set up. They will not treat any injuries, illness, or anything else in a manner that is not supported by nature, no artificial chemicals (aspirin, first-aid creams, artificial drinks, preventives, etc), no artificial power sources, etc. If it cannot be done in nature it should not be done. The Society believes that it is a benevolent force working towards Earth's future, regardless of what that future is. With all the EDs destroying the Earth, that future cannot come about and only when those EDs stop destroying everything they touch can nature return to the timestream that it is supposed to be on. They cannot see that they have taken a good idea and carried it to the point that it has become a bad idea. Hopefully someday they will learn the error of their ways. Hope that you like this Society. Their whole basis (if you had not figured it out) is taking a good idea and carrying it to the point that it becomes a bad idea.
  13. I will be starting a supers campaign soon. The world has never seen a living dragon in living memory. If any existed in the past there are no people alive who remember and ancient beings still alive are not talking. The world will possess modern technology, low-power supers, no aliens or mythical creatures. However in the past few years dragons started appearing. I am wondering how they could be appearing, effects on society, and possible stats and abilities that the dragons possess. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  14. Re: What's This? What I was trying to do is make a collective of different items using the same concept that is used in the other thread. What someone is supposed to do is to create the items, be it a weapon (knife, sword, gun, harpoon, whatever), a building, vehicle, or any of the limitless items that people have been able to come up with over time. I do not care if it is magical, technological, psionic, or anything else. A name is not necessary, but if it is included (either with that device or later) then that is the icing on the cake. Hope that this helps. Lets use this vehicle: Looks like a typical Escort both inside and outside. However when the driver desires a break or to get some quiet and rest, then he can either hush everyone else or activate the autodriver. In really extreme times, he can literally make everyone else vanish temporarily (up to five minutes). Another option that can be used would be that it possesses upto the full capacity of a full semi truck.
  15. Re: What's in a Name? Teddy Edward grew up with basically no worries. He was the son of a U.S. Senator who had been able to work his way high up in the Senate's ranks. This did include all the associated perks and problems that accompany that position. His father saw only one problem with him: he always had his face in some book, either printed or comic. No one ever realized just what was going on in his solitary life. Then one day while he was flying with his family to some vacation spot he suddenly and for no reason went asleep, almost unconscious. The medics on the plane could not figure out why he did that. Then suddenly a missile hit the plane, or should we say that the plane ate it, doing no damage. A few minutes later Teddy awoke unaware of what happened. Several days later as Teddy was traveling with the required entourage he went into his lapse. The security agents with him could not figure out what the reason could be. Then several agents from a terrorist group attacked them. Teddy's group was out-manned and out-gunned by at least four to one. Despite this problem, any incoming attack seemed to be eaten up by some mysterious force. After the attackers retreated, Teddy woke up completely unaware of the attack. The terrorists attempted to attack Teddy several more times all with the same result. The thing about Teddy is that before birth a being had moved into Teddy's body. For the most part this being will not reveal itself to anyone. However if it detects by some unknown method danger approaching it, then it will manifest itself and "eat" the attack. During the times that this being is protecting everyone, Teddy is comatose until the being returns. For the next name: Jaded Soul
  16. Re: What's in a Name? Epicenter suddenly appeared one day in the middle of a huge fight between several metas. Even though the police had the street closed off and were not allowing anyone past into the combat area, she simply walked past them. As she got closer to the combatants, they suddenly stopped the fight and looked at each other and worked together to repair the damage that they made while fighting. She does not appear often, but when she does anyone fighting will suddenly stop and be friends with the same people that they were trying to hurt or kill only seconds before. Epicenter tends to operate in an aloof manner. Her power is to mentally make others in a vast area going out from her see just what they are doing and how it affects not only the other person but also the surrounding community. For some reason even the most selfish and hardened of criminals will temporarily be convinced that what they are doing is wrong and must try to make amends by working with those that they are currently fighting. Let us next meet: Ignis Fatuus.
  17. Re: What's in a Name? Announcer: "Here comes the home team - Valley West" A group of high school football players run onto the unusually misty football field. Followed by the team from the opposing team on the opposite end of the field. Announcer: "Here is the visiting team - North Scott" As the game progresses neither team seems to be doing its best that night. Both sides are trying to outdo the other in all the usual manners, but the harder they try the less energy they seem to possess. Several weeks later several people gather by the lake during the early morning as the fog is lifting. The people operating the boats get their boats roaring to life but it feels as though they themselves have not slept for almost a week. As the boat race progresses the drivers are feeling the strain more than normal, even more than they did during their practice runs in the preceding days. Finally because too many accidents have occurred, the race is called. Fortunately no lives were lost. Later all the bets were made for their favorite horse for the upcoming race. Everyone got into their seats around the murky arena. Finally the buzzer sounds and the gates open. The horses trot out with the jockey nearly asleep on the horse. After this goes on for several minutes (and several jockeys falling off) the race is canceled. Ten more races are started all with the same disastrous results. The next day He appeared and discovered what happened. This is the closest that I have come yet to capturing the Insomnia Cloud. thought the Wizard. Hopefully the next time that It appears I will be able to capture it and reclaim my status on the Council. Next - Wrapper
  18. Inspired by the What's in a Name? thread, lets try the same concept this time describing some device. It can be for sci-fi, fantasy, supers, whatever. Getting things started: This device resembles a dagger in every normal manner. However when in the hands of someone who knows how to operate it it can make either the wielder or target to teleport to some random location. Now for the next device we will turn it over to everyone in Herodom.
  19. Re: What's in a Name? Where do I come from? the dark figure inquired not for the first time. Thinking as far back in his(?) memory as possible, he only went back almost one year. At that time all was turmoil in the location that he was in. In his rage he went through the structure as though the reinforced and hardened cement walls were made of paper. After several days he finally settled down and was able to realize exactly what he had done, he got both confused and remorseful. To make up for the damage that was done both to the people that he hurt and property that was damaged, he decided to try and use his great strength to assist and aid those who need it. Because he resembles a humanoid bull, the press started calling him Bollux. Our next master: Existence
  20. Re: What's in a Name? Isaac Auzmtuun worked for the R&D department in a major company. He was a member of a team that was trying to develop a new plastic that is stronger, lighter, and more flexible than anything on the market today. One day he led Abrams Zumtiun and Raleen Ice into the chamber that contained the vat that holds the experimental plastic. Suddenly the seals broke and got all over all three of them. When the mess got cleaned up only one highly misformed figure could be found. Tests proved that all three were somehow merged into one being. Having three minds in one body gets to be extremely confusing and makes this new being called Twisted Mister seem to be both insane and autistic. Being all confused, Twisted Mister will go on rampages and commit crimes in his unusual and insane manner. For our next entrant: Corona
  21. Re: What's in a Name? Samuel Semial has always desired more. Being the CFO for Purina Co. with all its bonuses and perks might seem like enough for most people out there, but not Mr. Semial. True it allowed him to become one of America's richest and most eligible bachelors, but he desired to delete the "one of" portion of the above. To make this work out in his favor and eliminate all competition, he started several tactics that were questionably both ethical and legal. Then one day while he was overseeing some modifications to some dog food that had to be recalled because it was making the dogs that ate it extremely sick there was an unexplained explosion. At first no one thought that he would survive, and no one could be found who even cared. As physics in a supers realm dictate, he did recover and remembered that not a single person cared to even send him any cards or flowers. This made him extremely bitter and angry. He quickly discovered that he has the ability to tap into the mind of any dog within two miles of his present location and use any sense that the dog possesses, he could even telepathically communicate with said dogs. Now as Dog Food Man he gives the heroes trouble that have always troubled him in the past. After all those heroes have only stood in the way of him becoming the richest person in the world and need to be taught a few things. And now to introduce: Tahngarth
  22. Re: What's in a Name? "So you kids want to hear how it all started?" the old man asked. There were exuberent cries of aproval. "OK, here is how things actually went" he reminisced Flashback: A teen-age kid was idling away his time with his father in the currio shop. The kid really did not want to be there but the father needed to get out in a manner that did not let his mother know what he was doing. Walking along not really minding where he was going or what he was doing, he ran his hand over several items on the shelves - some glass vials, wooden dishware, various figurines, several random pieces of cloth, a marid of books, many different items of unknown function, etc. "Andrew, come along!" called his father. Appearently he had gotten finished with his business and now wanted to leave. That was great for Andrew since he never wanted to be here in the first place. The following monday Andrew went back to school for the week. Nothing really happened except that he found his classes so boring he thought that he would like nothing more than the ability to disappear for a while. In class they were showing a film and another classmate looked at Andrew and his mouth dropped. Appearently the classmate only saw a shadow that blended in with the darkness of the room making Andrew almost invisible. The next day some other students were taunting Andrew and when he wished that they would fall into a deep, dark hole, they actually did! After several more incidents like these, Andrew noticed that each time something like it happened a shroud surrounded him. He kept this a secret and quietly practiced with the shroud abilities. Finally after almost a year of practice, he came out and revealed himself to the world as the Shroud - Master of the Shadow. And now for Osmosis.
  23. Re: What's in a Name? Chase Roberts always could make people laugh. In school Chase was always the class clown. He lost after the fifth grade how many times he was sent to the principle's office. He graduated high school but just barely. After about ten years of go nowhere jobs he finally had had enough. Desperate since he was about to loose everything that he had accumulated, he decided to augment his income with some no-so-legit business deals. At first he hit local convience stores, corner shops, boutiques, etc. He thought that he had all the bases covered with his generic hood, generic gloves, standard outfit, etc. But that was too mundane for him. The saying that kept running through his head was "laugh while the whole world is crying". So he decided to come up with a way of dispercing laughing gas to incompacitate a large number of people. To test his new persona he hit the corner bank. It went off without a hitch. While the people were laughing so hard that it broght them to tears, he robbed the bank and got away with a LARGE sum of money. When the heist was over the detectives found this written on a the back of a deposit slip: "Put on a Happy Face" and included this http://upchucky.com/flash-be-happy.html. The media got a hold of this information and dubbed the robber The Happy Guy Bandit. And Will TimeLine please stand.
  24. Re: What's in a Name? Of all the possible powers, I get stuck with the lamest of them all. is what Ahmed Remon thought. He grew up admiring the valiant efforts of the superhero that exist, the way that they show up and risk their lives to save the people for nothing in return. He never realized that he had a power until one day some lesser-known hero wanna-bes started talking to him about signing up with them. They told him that the extra special insight that he always gets whenever he so much as touches anything that is printed is actually a form of hyper-intelligence. All that he has to do is touch the paper or book and he "sees" everything that is on it. Of course this did help him greatly in school. To discover the questions and answers on a test, all that he had to do was touch the teachers answer sheet. Although that was not usually necessary since he already had the book memorized and both the questions and answers were taken directly from the book most of the time, although the teacher did know enough to reword the question. This was also the method that was used to learn such exotic things like martial arts, cooking, survival, geography, Shakespeare, military tactics and discipline, and computers. Since joining with these wanna-be heroes he has started heroing under the pseudonym that the bullies taunted him with during school - Book Lover. Next lets have: Rumble
  25. Re: What's in a Name? Life was sweet for the young Amber Swen. While her family was not all that wealthy, they were able to handle all financial problems with a little extra to put away. She displayed an aptitude for dancing and music for an extremely early age. As she went to dance lessons she discovered that she not only is an exceptional dancer but also can use the dance to influence the minds of anyone watching and put them into a thrall. With additional practice and control she learned how to really play with and read people's minds, but only while dancing. However she never became all that tall so everyone started calling her the TINY DANCER. Today she is a well-paid professional dancer and whenever trouble appears so does the mesmerizing TINY DANCER. Lets try Hound Dog
