  1. Re: What's in a Name? WWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! The alarm calls me from the sleeping pod much earlier than planned. After coming to my senses, I verify the place that we are and where we should be. It is lightyears off! This is a sector that out people have never explored before. That is easy to do since this is the first mission away from our home solar system and we have been flying at the speed of light for almost 100 years now (it was supposed to be 150 years). I awake all the others in hopes that we can figure out what should be done to correct this problem. Around the large giant planet in the system center we get too close to one of the satellites and it slings us to the third planet from the solitary star in this system. Just as we are about to regain control we are caught too close to said planet's gravity well and are spiraled into the planet. Despite all efforts to escape the trap we fail and crash. Sometime later I awake in a totally strange location unaware of what just happened and wondering where the wreckage of my ship is. Several strange looking creatures that seem to be attempting to communicate surround me but I cannot understand them. After some time I begin to have a crude understanding of these strange beings. They call themselves "human", this planet is "Earth", they refer to me as "Aquamarine" since I seem to have a skin that resembles that gem, and that all the others on my craft were killed or have yet to awake. Things look like I will have to make the best life that I can while surrounded by these humans of Earth. I would like everyone to meet: Ultra Magnus
  2. Re: What's in a Name? It's tough being a hermit forced to live on the outskirts of a modern city. All that I have ever asked for is to be left alone. Have no one visit me - EVER. How much more obvious can one make things? I mean I have signs saying "No Solicitors", solid iron gates with "No Visitors" sign, and other abvious tell-tales that you are unwanted in this house. However everyday people show up to make me by something, get me to sign up for some project, contribute to thier cause, whatever. They would even try to use the phone or puter if I owned either. I realize those that know about me call me Mr. Lonely but I do not care since I am never with any of them. However for those extremely annoying individuals, they all have some mysterious way that they disappear, usually permanentally. Hopefully I can get on with my solitary quiet life now - THERE'S THAT DOORBELL, AGAIN!!! For the next entrant: Loquitor
  3. Re: The Forumverse name game "We need those results N-O-W, NOW!" was all that the commander told the priest-doctor. He worked as fast and hard as he could but nothing would happen as intended. The last several projects were all failures and his future was on the line here. I mean it was literally on the line - if this project were to fail, then he would be executed, right here and now, on the spot. Getting into the chants and mysticism the priest-doctor had performed everything exactly as it should be. Nothing happened. Knowing that everything was over, the priest-doctor closed his eyes expecting the rain of bullets that would kill him. They never came. When he opened his eyes again the place was empty of all people. Only the supplies were left and that would be enough food to sustain him for almost a week. The place was locked tighter than Fort Knox in a blizzard and from the outside so that he would have no way out. Several days later someone looking like an Egyptian Pharaoh and able to manipulate life energies had appeared and then disappeared in random locations around the world. Given the lavish appearance the press started calling this new being Egyptoid.
  4. Re: What's in a Name? Life is hard, $&*@ hard. No matter where you live that is true. Try living in Barrows, Alaska, the northern most location in all the US, most likely the world. Living there would have been luxury, I was raised outside (way outside) that city where only the hardiest of people attempt to live. Making things worse, as a young child (age 6) I was lost in a blizzard and assumed killed by all rescuers. Only my family never gave up hope that I survived. Years later they finally found my frozen body over a hundred miles away from where I disappeared. The medics quickly gave up any hope of resurrecting me and sent my frozen body to the University of Alaska for whatever they want to do to it. In a manner that none could explain, several random chemicals were combined with the environment that I was in and I got reanimated. In addition my mental and physical abilities were enhanced and I could generate and control cold energy. However it was at a price - that of sight, hearing, temperature tolerance, among others. Now I go around Alaska under the name of Snow Blind in an effort of stopping poachers, criminals, and anyone else who would do wrong. Next Name. Not to Orginal but what about EROS
  5. Re: What's in a Name? Storm Warden: All that he can remember is that he was given a mission. He cannot remember where the mission came from or what he was before getting the mission. All that he knows for certain is that he is charged with protecting the weather on the planet earth. To do so he was given extreme control over the weather patterns that occur on the planet. For this reason and since he was not able to come up with a name for the local populace, they started calling him Storm Warden. While he uses the abilities to stop criminals, he mostly uses it to cancel out the effects of unnatural weather patterns created by other supers, governments, organizations, whatever or to restore the weather to what it should be during periods when nature itself seems to want to alter the weather. For the next name: Scattershot
  6. Re: The Forumverse name game Arron Sowlie never did have that much going for him. His family always had to struggle just to make ends meet, school bullies chose him for the daily "tests", the desire to be anywhere else. Then one day he managed to scrape enough money to get one of those magic boxes. The box itself was just as they usually are - a fancy way for someone else to make alot of money and nothing more. However, when he bought it the store told him that he was their special millionth customer and he can have anything that is on the winner's table. The table contained several great things - like keys to a fabulous sports car, a brief case loaded with over $1000 cash, a fancy new hat that the store claimed was extremely valuable, a new computer system with $1000 in programs and a one year internet service, etc. For some reason he claimed the hat saying that it called him. Discovering that he can pull almost anything out of the hat, he decided to use it to stop crime in his little neck of the world under the guise of OddHat.
  7. Re: What's in a Name? Vanguardian: Born to a family that is the heir to a multi-billion dollar estate, Warren Tessic lived the typical life of someone in his social class. He did not have any worry that was not cared for in some manner. However he was given the belief that the needs of society outway the needs of the individual. Trying to feel the need of helping society and give him some challenge for the first time in his life, he had a power suit built that will allow him to duke it out with the big boys. Now to actually get the challenge. Next up: Myngu

    Knight War

Suppose that for some reason KITT goes wild. Team Knight Rider is called in to stop the errant KITT. Both sides are given the full range of abilities that they were given in their respective shows. Given the set circumstance that they would meet on a terrain such as the salt flats who would be the victor and why do you think this way?
  9. I would like to create a great power for attacking groups. The power will be the Chain Lightning from Might & Magic 3. For those who are unfamiliar that spell will be aimed at one opponent then bounce to the closest target, then the next, and so on til it runs out of energy. I would like to have a hero who can do the same thing. How would this power be written up so that it will have the described effect? I really appreciate all assistance from the great collective minds at Herodom Assembled.

    Super City

Re: Super City For those mobility-challenged heros: Whyne-Down Transit Service: We can get you to the scene now at reasonable prices unles it costs us the vehicle. Our drivers tend to be competent unles someone challenges it, then they can do nothing. About the only thing that the driver is good for is information, but do not ask any question that will help the scenerio along.
  11. Here is a question that came up reciently. In your campaign what happens when a character dies? In traditional comics, that is nothing more than a state of mind and body. A character tends to return from death with little more effort than what is required to fly around the world. In other more realistic campaigns, death is actually something that will bring an end to the existance of some character, they will never return. Then again several campaigns tend to put death somewhere between these two extremes. If the character can return, it will be with some trouble and effort, possibly involving making some deal with some "Death God". This could involve defeating the god in some contest, convincing the god that you have more that needs to be done and you are the only one who can do it, finding some hole in "Death Realm" and slipping back to living , whatever. I would like for you to state your campaign's view of death and (if possible) how one would manage to return to living after being declared dead.
  12. Re: Story is only as good as its Villain I discovered that the villain that fits what you are looking for in your campaign is not so much as created by evolves during the campaign. Do not try to force one in but sit back and watch the way the the PCs respond to the villains that you use. Eventually you will discover that one villain fits what you are looking for. As an example in a campaign that I ran reciently I created such a villain. That villain actually turned out to be a NPC that the PCs absolutely loved and went out of their way to find and not a villian. In response I created another villain who was more of a one shoter (at the end of the campaign).
  13. Re: Fire and the power to combust.... Here is an interesting way that might just work. Since the character is trying to change objects into something that will combust, try the transform power with AE advantage. The items will heal back to thier normal form either one of two ways (or you could create another method). Either they would heal back at a predetermined rate (or the REC if living) or the target(s) will need to be hit by the transform again, or a similar power. If you desire the transform to only hit one target, then remove the AE advantage only use the normal transform power.
  14. Re: Day in the Life Steel and Black Saber decide to make a roadblock that should stop MM. They get Speed Demon to run ahead to obtain some wire, preferably barbed even though they know that MM will most likely not even notice the barbs. At the same time, Black Saber lines the road with anything that he can move with his strength and Steel moves things that are heavier, such as cars, trucks, etc. After Speed Demon returns with his wire, he and Black Saber wind everything each of them collected into one jangled mess atop the lines of vehicles placed in MM's way by Steel. However before he reaches the barricade, MM turns down another road towards out of town. No one can believe what they discover when they follow MM down that second road. At the same time Darkstar returns Myntec to their HQ in hopes that their facilities will help her return. What was found down the other road? Will Myntec be able to recover from whatever happened to her? Everyone looks to you to determine the answers to these questions.
  15. Re: Character conversion - Warlock Here is Warlock in Marvel terms: http://www.classicmarvel.com/cast/warlock.htm. Lets hope that it will give you some ideas how to recreate him in Chamopions terms.
  16. Finding out how good a job you have been doing for DC, the guys at Marvel ask for a redesign of their own. They would like for She-Hulk to transform into something else. As normal, anything will go except for being a brick. You will need to come up with the nature of change, a quick description of abilities (including SFX), how abilities will be used, etc. Here is my redesign: While trying to defeat the Leader's latest scheme, she falls into a vat of acid. The vat is drained and cleaned and they find that her body is falling apart. The best scientists and doctors work around the clock to save her, but the experience proved to be too much. However instead of dying like they think is happening her body is transforming itself taking the acid into itself and losing the solid form. Finally after weeks of rehab and training with her new powers, she learns that she has a powerful attack that disolves anything that it touches, can be molded at will, pass through nearly anything, or be thrown a distance away to get that opponent beyond arms reach, but will harm anyone and anything that comes into contact with it. Now she uses her new acid powers to acidify any threat that bothers humanity.
  17. Re: Secret ID and Social Limitation: Famous I do not see this as an abuse. Secret ID means that the hero maintains two totally seperate personalities while Social Lim: Famous means that one or both IDs is well known and hounded by fans and paparazzi alike. By taking both limits then the player needs to work EXTRA hard to prevent someone from discovering the secret ID and making it public.
  18. Re: You can't possibly be!! Redo Green Lantern Kyle Rayner is out patrolling the city and discovers that there is a fight going on in a neaby warehouse. Upon entry he discovers that Batman is having trouble with several of his villains. With the cooperation of both the villainous team is soon vanquished. However upon leaving Brainiac entraps them both in an anti-energy barrier, preventing GL from using the powers of his ring. This barrier has an unexpected result. The anti-energy barrier reacts with the ring energy and transforms GL into a being of pure energy possessing superstrength, agility, energy control, and speed. Using his new powers, he eventually messes up Brainiac and makes him disappear again.
  19. Re: Day in the Life Thinking that the device is simply suppressing MM's actions, Myntec calls Black Saber aside and tells him to start working on the external device while she trys to augment MM's mind to overpower the device on the inside. During this time MM starts walking away with the bank. Steel runs infront to stop MM while SD and Darkstar enter the bank to get all the people out. There is no problem getting everyone out. Everytime that Steel tries to stop MM, MM simply goes around him. Sitting on MM's shoulder, Black Saber tries to disable the device. Myntec is playing around trying to find MM and set him free of the control from the device. Suddenly she goes blank, as though in a coma and Black Saber gets a nasty jolt that makes him fly off MM's shoulder. MM seems not to notice anything going on around him and continues to walk due east.
  20. Re: Adventure Seeds--Title Tag "Un-Reality TV" The local TV station approaches the heros about making a reality show about the heros. As expected action times get highly exaggerated and non-action times are left out. The actual program eventually gets shelved and forgotten. Then years later a mystical wanne-be villain (hero?) discovers this program and uses it to take out the heros. Following titles: "Who Mourns for Aphrodite?" "Those Who Walk Away From Millenium City" "The Light - It Burns!"
  21. Here is a developing story written by assembled Herodom. I will start it then will ask everyone to continue: Chacters: Steel - Brick Speed Demon - Speedster Myntec - Mentalist Darkstar - GL Type/Leader Black Saber - Martial Artist/Gageteer The day starts with no problems. About 08:00 this morning the news reporter from ABC showed up to record a normal day with Black Saber. Having been fooled by such gimics before we examine all the equipment and people to make sure that everyone and everything is as it should be. Finding no problems we allow them to set about recording. Around 11:00 the alarm sounds and we are called into action. Discovering that one of the villains that we thought we had incarcerated some time ago is holding up a downtown bank we go down to stop what is going on. When we get there we discover that there is more going on. I will now turn it over to everyone. What is actually happening? What will happen to our fearless heros? Only you can answer these questions.
  22. Re: Spider Man Clone Instead of making the character be either psionic or human/animal hybrid, how about an astronomer trying to prove the existance of dark matter. As always seems to happen, there was something that happened (either intentional or not) and he was imbued with a portion of the primal forces of nature. There could be a part of him that is always seeing things a second or so in the future (danger sense), assists him in avoiding attacks (DCV levels), grants the speed and power needed for taking care of problems, and anything else that you would like the character to possess.
  23. Re: Villains and their Secret ID, post-trial If the villain were captured and put on trial, then part of the trial will be that he/she will have to reveal their secret ID. If the villain were to refuse to show their ID then the court could add Contempt of Court to all the other charges. The hero testifying has to show his ID as well, unles various laws have been passed that alters that or they fall under various protections that protect undercover cops who do not have to show their IDs as well. Although for that last provision, the hero MUST be a member of the law enforcement community.
  24. Pleased with the redesign that you did with Flash the guys at DC are asking you to redo another character. This time they are going for Green Lantern (choose which one). Again they are putting on no limits except that he cannot possess a mystical focus (this includes his Lantern Ring). He can become a technologist, gain some powers, gain innate mystical ability, whatever. Let your creative imaginations flow and redesign away.
  25. Re: Please Critique Steel's abilities are natural. From the day that their powers manifested he has been extremely strong and almost impossible to injure. Although I did eliminate all Damage Reduction from all characters making it easier to injure them. The only member of this group who has dual IDs is PyRon. I basically modeled him after the Human Tourch. When he is in his villain form he has access to all powers, however when not in that form he has none of these powers (or when he is frozen which forces a change from villain to normal). If they feel that their individual power is insufficient they do have the ability to unite into one mega-villain. I do not really care for the name so please in addition to critiquing him please make suggestions for the name as well.
