1. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams There was actually a part of it. Some good interviews on the subject and then the gradual allowance of certain characters to participate. ~Rex
2. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete Boosting Sales is fine. From my experience as an avid purchaser of games, and a long term Professional Demo guy; a Good Solid Game in the format that is desired by it's Long term and invested fanbase, will Outsell the Bright Shiny and Moving one in the Long Run. Games sell, not so much from being Uber Pretty on the shelf, but from folks running that game for other people. If it goes over well those folks go get the game and talk others into getting it. Bright candy colors will never replace the effect of a well run game from an active GM pushing it. You want to crank up the Pretty Factor, save it for a Limited Edition Collectible, Numbered and Signed etc etc etc ..... Then charge whatever the heck you want for it. I've personally felt the art was so Inconsistent and downright unlikeable in more then a few cases lately (especially compared to past products) that another color run would not be a good thing. A lot of folks have mentioned that "if the Core Books had Sold so well Then....." Well, Every FLGS store around here Sold Out some pretty good sized stacks, in a very bad economy. They went to get more and couldn't. Heard every excuse under the sun but they seemed to be able to get every book under the sun except HERO books, and the ones they could get weren't moving the product because they were supplemental to the product folks couldn't get. Hopefully this will change that. Either way, reservations aside looking forward to the books. Money is Waiting. ~Rex
3. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete Color art and all that stuff is fine....... For the Limited Edition Collectible. A Working Book, that's a different story........ ~Rex
4. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams Very true. The Brotherhood of Evil has it all. Brain in a Jar (Check), Talking Gorilla combat expert (Check), Immortal Facist Nazi type (Check), Exiled Evil green alien with goals of conquering the Earth (check), Un-killable shape shifting and stretching serial killer woman (Check), and that's just the original Line Up. You get guys like Warp (How do you like the Bottom of the Antarctic Ocean Cyborg?), Plasmus, Elephant Man and Phobia in later incarnations ..... Nasty Nasty Team...... ~Rex
5. Re: Else Earth Superteams: Crime Fighter Legion (5e) Starwalker (I so want to make the Look in the Fabricas De Herois thingie heh....).....No Elemental Control for that guy? Either way. Fun solid builds with attention to comparative scale. I like it so much I'm going to do my own thread.... ~Rex.....Either way, here's what popped into my head with that description......
6. Re: Else Earth Superteams: Crime Fighter Legion (5e) Starwalker has A Head Fin?! He wins. No one beats the Fin. ~Rex

Sun Koh

Re: Sun Koh I would say depending on the angle Yes but there is active use of the character out there so one would have to double check. http://allpulp.blogspot.com/2012/01/hancock-tips-his-hat-to-sun-koh-heir-of.html BTW.....REALLY GOOD. Seriously.
8. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams Hydra is a vastly under-rated Villain Group. ~Rex
9. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams Hero Clix. Providing some of the better Miniatures for repainting and use for the Champions System since 2002 .... ~Rex.....Only has a Hydra Army though. Hail Hydra!
10. Re: Help me grok HERO! I use them in my Super's Campaign. Makes that guy with the 40 STR really scary. ~Rex.....the 12d6 is the Marvel Class 100 Benchmark. Gives you a comparative scale to use against things in the comics. Scale is important. Let's you see Just what is Bullet Proof. Just what is Tank Proof. Far to often as of late it becomes more about Dice Piles as opposed to what the Pile can actually do in relation to it's environment, hence, many of the piles are far far to big for what the player or gm is trying to accomplish.
11. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams Jar's do not slow down Mr. Mind. Don't Make me post pic's...Ah what the heck..... ~Rex....does ponder the Mr. Mind heroclix stats though.....
12. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete PDF's are Cheap but PDF's suck. Go Book or Bust. PDF's are nice as an add on or a tag-along, but until they come up with a Book Sized PDF Reader that doesn't cost Paychecks, they won't replace books, and I'll stick with Paper regardless for reasons threads long about PDF's. CC is a Pretty darn good deal considering what it contains and what it replaces even with the reservations I have about it. Hence, Buying a Pile of them. Out of that Pile MAY be one PDF, just because. Not sure who I would give it to though. Out of the Hundreds of Gamers on my mailing list from the Demo Team files, No one wants "Just the PDF", and more then a Hundred would be willing to pick up Champions for the first time if it goes back to being One Book. ~Rex...and no, I'm not buying something Twice by getting the PDF then printing it myself. I've got Functional Game Books that date from the Late 70's. I don't think there is ANY comparable "pdf" type yet for that kind of thing, especially with the electronic media's habit of just going, Meh, we don't need to read that old program anymore, and I'm still trying to figure out how They are Cheaper when the best thing for reading them comes in at a bargain price of 600 bucks. That's a Whole LINE of Books and then some Third Party Material on top of that.
13. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams Mr. Mind is a Caterpillar Worm, in your Brain. That's monstrous enough for me. *shudder* ~Rex....Does point out though that the Brotherhood of Evil, has a Brain in a Jar. Hard to beat the Brain in a Jar.
14. Re: Classic Super Hero Teams The Doom Patrol had the Brotherhood of Evil to duke it out with. ~Rex
15. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete I've some concerns but not quite sure how to word them yet. This is the direction things need to go though so my money and previous statements still stand. ~Rex
16. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete And so spoke the Prophet Derek Hiemforth, and Behold, the product demanded descended from the Heavens on a chariot of Gold pulled by 5 Ki-Rin, a Lammasu and a small Puffin of nondescript origin. Ring the Bells and let it be known that Good things do Happen in the world still...... Sounds like what I (and more then a few others) have been looking for since oh, the last BBB. So, already shook down the FLGS's around here, and a few other places as well. A LOT (Seriously I could give you a number, heh) of interest here. Including serious intent from folks that refused to move forward from the BBB days. ~Rex.... Print...Pronto..... Need Books!
17. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete Good consistent black and white art in a game book meant to be used will out do inconsistent "Bright Shiny and Moving" any day of the week. Proven workhorse. ~Rex
18. Re: [New Product] Champions Complete Need books Now Please. ~Rex....has like, a full docket of places he has to do demo's at this season.....
19. Re: Weather Powers??? Stormfront works.....Stormbreaker is fine..... Suppose it all depends on what one really wants to do. Pretty easy in 6E. ~Rex
20. Re: Hero System Sixth Edition Concise Looking forward to it. Already put aside the money for 6 Copies for me. It's ranking high from the care package folks as well, with 6 replies so far asking me when they can send a check to get a few copies mailed to them so all told, come publication time I'm good for roughly 24 copies. ~Rex
21. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC Currently: Marvel: Daredevil. Any and All Captain America titles. Winter Soldier, Captain Marvel (AKA Ms. Marvel), The new Man-Thing Book. Any of the B-Squad in Space. Books like Heroes for Hire and the Defenders, Ghost Rider. Anything by certain Teams I like be they writers or Artists. I'm a sucker for Characters like Captain America, The Black Panther, Iron Fist, Moon Knight (Pre Bendis), Luke Cage (Pre Bendis). I could make this list longer but many of the books are done. Hoping a few come back. Did pick up a lot of the AvX stuff to keep up with what they decided to poop on with THAT event..... DC: All of the 52 in PDF. Physical Books are limited to Aquaman. All the Bat Books (I've an uninterrupted line of Bat Books going back to 1975 when I started collecting with my own money....), All Star Western, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Frankenstein Agent of Shade, Justice League Dark, Earth 2, Worlds Finest, I, Vampire, Action Comics and Superman, GI Combat, Deathstroke, Captain Atom. Valiant: Every Title. Haven't missed one this resurrection or the previous reign and even when Acclaim decided to turd them up. Dark Horse: All BPRD related material. All Gold Key Material. Occasional Star Wars or Alien related book if the Arc is worth a crap (Crimson Empire for example) ICON: Criminal, Incognito Image: Fatale....Honestly I despise Image as a company, but there's a few books associated with it I am not adverse to (Invincible and the Like) Top Cow: The Darkness Dynamite: The Shadow, The Specter, The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet, Project: Superpowers, Red Sonja, Vampirella, the Warlord of Mars books, and the Upcoming Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt, The Bionic Man, The Bionic Woman. Spin Off's of the above. IDW: The Rocketeer Adventures. A few of their other books depending on Arc.... Red 5: Atomic Robo, We Kill Monsters. Honestly the more stuff I see from these guys the more I like their stuff..... Moonstone Books. Everything. Practically Everything when I can find it..... All that being said, it's about 1/10th what I used to pick up. Not even counting Graphic Novels, or Manga. What I used to Pick up would shock and awe most folks. Even now the money is considerable. Back When I made great money, I had an insatiable appetite for Literature of all types and even used to collect stuff that I utterly hated (like Deadpool), just so I could have a bonfire party later in the year. ~Rex....says now we must play in a game modeled on the comics of the 50's. Hence, I shall unleash MY character, The Force of Nature gone wrong known as TIKIBUMWHA!!! The Island that Walks! upon the shores of an unsuspecting Malibu California equivalent.
22. Re: Hero System Sixth Edition Concise Count me in for at least 6 copies. Maybe another 6 after that waiting on word back for care package requests. Want to have a lot of fun with it, lets have a contest for doing the cover. ~Rex...has a thought....
23. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC I don't need, affirmative action in my comics. Hence, I don't need Carol Danvers making a run with the Captain Marvel name, as she's built the name Ms. Marvel, and has more miles on it over the last three decades then Mar-Vell did with his own moniker. Their reasoning is lazy and unneeded, and unwanted. Change for change sake, and another affirmative action bleh call. Looking around at what girls are wearing around here, especially in the summer, her old outfit would be considered overdressed so I don't buy the Costume Daddy could be proud of cop out excuse. It's just continuity ignorance and territory marking. ~Rex
24. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC Besides us Dedicated Ms. Marvel fans not only had to suffer though one of the flakiest X-Men stealing all her stuff, we had to put up with THIS look after the Binary Bad Hair days..... And that Outfit, also came with a Giant Harness/Vest Armor set up as well to make it look even more protective.......This by the way is the Warbird Costume, without the vest, the Black w/Bolt and Red Sash is The third costume she had and the first she made just for herself and not as an Homage to Mar-Vell, something she had issues with. Prefer THIS look. It's the one she made Iconic over the years, and the one that's her Own, it's Ms. Marvel, not Warbird and the character should be Ms. Marvel not Captain Marvel because Ms. Marvel has earned her stripes. Folks seem to be confusing the Warbird and Mis. Marvel costumes, but I can dig out the Issue where that costume first appears. Can't even buy a pack of gum nowadays for what that book cost, heh. ~Rex....here's the debut page in the old Ms. Marvel book from back in the 35 cent cover days for folks that seem to think it's the Warbird costume...
25. Re: Cassandra's Corner Hmm. Interesting Lantern Build. Workable especially at 250. I tend to build the ring like a Vehicle/Computer combo but I still like good Multipower builds and such as well. ~Rex
