Armory reacted to Ternaugh in DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
Now, I'm picturing Cary Grant as Batman in "Arkham and Old Lace".

A look back at how it all began
(In particular, the happy accident that was the SLJ Nick Fury post-credits scene.)

I heard Odin's speech about the hammer being a focus (rather than a source) for Thor's power, and immediately I thought, "So, Thor just got the experience points to buy off the OIF Limitation on his powers." Is that wrong?

I love how anime is so polarizing. It makes it so easy to separate the people who like anime from the people who have no taste.

I have to quibble with you on something. The 3/5 compromise was a good thing. It was intended to limit the voting power of the southern states in the US Congress. We have proportional representation according to population in the House of Representatives. The 3/5 compromise was a move against slavery.

That is a question of separating the art from the artist. It's a centuries old question and the answer is: it depends. Some people do it, some people do not. Most people do both for different pieces. There is no right response. I cannot watch anything with Bill Cosby, and even something as benign as The Naked Gun is difficult to take with O.J.'s appearances in it. On the other hand, Ender's Game does not bother me at all despite the author being, well, controversial let's say. For most of us it is a case by case basis. However, my original point on letting the art stay still stands. Let people judge for themselves.

I'm a Christian. It is increasingly difficult to find a movie portrayal of a Christian who is not depicted a hypocrite, bigot, sexual pervert, mean spirited snob, or otherwise terrible person. The TV show Law & Order has made a decade-long career of portraying Christians as monsters in all its variations and iterations. We're kind of used to that in modern culture, so the offense is slight, but its more or less constant.
And you know what? Any problem I have with that is in me. Its my problem. How I respond to something is on me. Yes, some actions are so naturally and reasonably objectionable that any ordinary person will react poorly - our laws cover that. But the truth is, the offense we feel and the way we respond to things is because of how we feel and react. Nobody compels me to be upset or offended or shocked. Nobody owes me an apology for the 9800th portrayal of a Christian as a terrible person, a murderer, a pervert, etc.

If the films or other products of byegone eras are in line with the values and standards of their time, just as the films and other products of our era are in line with our contemporary values and standards, doesn't it seem a little presumptuous of us to talk about "having" to forgive them? Like they are in some inherent need of foregiveness, just because they reflect opinions that we now, well after the fact, happen to find distasteful? Is it bad to accept them for what they are, while realizing that we know better now (and maybe congratulating ourselves for this fact, just a little)?
Just my 2¢.

I think the confusion was from you saying you can't comment on the show while commenting on the show and saying one show is better than the other when you've never actually seen one of said shows.
But I've been wrong before.

Well that's just it. I think the best kind of review is less about the reviewer's opinion than informing potential viewers about quality of various aspects. I can like a poorly written, stupid movie because its fun, but its still poorly written and stupid and people need to know that. And some very, very well made movies can be very awful despite their high quality in terms of skill and technique.

I see quick cuts as often fatiguing (especially if used in a 3D movie*), and sometimes as a tell that the fight choreographer didn't know what he or she was doing. It's why the Daredevil hallway fight is so amazing to me.
I'm also not a fan of shaky cam. At best it's a gimmick, at worst, it's just unwatchable.
*It takes a bit of time for a viewer to adapt to see a scene in 3D when scenes change, and quick cuts mean that the viewer never quite adapts to it. It's why most of the scenes in Avatar are long, without a lot of cuts, and with careful use of pans.

I was playing an eccentric scholar / treasure hunter, and after a few sessions realized that I was subconsciously channeling J. Peterman.

Long, long ago, back in the early days of 4e, I statted out Artemus Gordon and James West for a campaign.
A while back, my wife ran a character inspired by Annie Walker from Covert Affairs.

I'm torn. On one hand, as a fan, I would love to see the Fantastic Four and their villains interact with the MU on screen!
On the other, I tend to think Disney is a big enough monster when it comes to iP

Slightly OT, but I was thinking the other day that even tho there are a lot of shows I'm theoretically watching, with the near-death of the traditional TV season model and the advent of binge media drops and so forth, I'm really only watching 2-3 shows at any one time. Sure, I'm eagerly waiting for the next seasons of GoT, Westworld, I Zombie, Legion, and all the Netflix MCU shows. But the only shows I'm actually watching at the moment are Supergirl, The Gifted, and The Orville. Nice to have stuff spaced out more throughout the year like that. Add in the fact that most of those shows are only 8-10 episodes per season, and it doesn't really turn into that many hours of television per week.
