death tribble
I have mentioned this before but am prepared to run this in July or August of this year. It would be like the World Creation draft but with differences if we are comparing drafts The main pick would be a location. This could be country, city etc but it is crucial to each player as his choices revolve around it. The other pick I am settled on is a leader or chief figure associated with location I don't want to go the route of picking 5 heroes or villains to form a team so that is out. One potential option is the Why would you go there pick. So you have a city big deal, what is so different about it that someone would want to visit it. Another potential option is history. An event that has some significance to the location. Now while these two could be covered in flavour text not everyone would do that so that is why I am thinking of these as options A local villain to oppose the leader or threaten the location is a possibility And henchmen for said leader A military force that the location is known for again is a possibility but if people are picking mountains this might be difficult. I was asked to cross post the draft in Fantasy Hero forum and once it is ready to go I will do that. Meantime options, thoughts etc.
Cancer
A distinct industry or cultural impact? A unique magical or religious site (or collection of such sites, like Jerusalem)? Most famous historical personage? Wouldn't have to overlap with the greatest events or power figures in local history (e.g., real-world Florence you might pick Leonardo da Vinci, but the Medici clan ruled the city and its fortunes for centuries). Greatest disaster in history?

Cancer
Idiosyncratic local holiday of particular importance, what supposedly it is supposed to memorialize, and whether anything remarkable actually occurs that day.
Pariah
Familiar-looking races, heroes, esoteric items, etc. that are thinly-veiled rip-offs from other genres, e.g., science fiction. What?

You mean, something like this? BOX: The Capulus The Capulus, in Exordium, is one of Thalassene’s oldest and holiest temples. The small, irregular shrine occupies the site where King Talis chose Manakel as the city’s patron. Gouges in the rock show where Manakel’s brother Barakel, god of storms, angrily blasted Talis’ retinue with lightning, while an ancient date palm supposedly grew at the command of the third divine brother, the orchard-god Serakel. The Capulus also holds King Talis’ tomb. Legend says that one band of Marolici pirates managed to invade Talisthanos. They tried to loot the Capulus of the coral and pearls Talis gained from his merfolk allies and took to his grave. Instead, the outraged king rose from his tomb and slaughtered the invaders. When the victorious Plenary general Phrosander heard the legend, he said, “We are not pirates,” and ordered the tomb left inviolate. So it has remained. Completely fair, since so much SF is thinly veiled ripoffs from Fantasy! Dean Shomshak Cancer
Cancer
Unique resource (either in-city, or reachable more or less only from there), or perhaps craft or tech Historical greatest hero (s/he's long gone, but this is the person they'd pick as their great The city's "Bright shining lie": something they like to think is true (many might believe it, actually) but it didn't actually happen that way When was its peak, or perhaps when one might expect it to reach the zenith of its glory
assault
Type of government. Don't assume a single leader - give the Oligarchies/Republics and Democracies a chance. That doesn't preclude a leader or chief figure. Option. Something interesting about the location that doesn't fit into the other categories, or allows an expansion of them. Bazza
Echo Cancer with resource. Athens had coal, and modern civilisation has relied on oil. So my suggestion would be an energy resource that powers the civ/culture/society.
