Longest Running Thread EVER

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

Long story, but true, just about 20 minutes ago. Terrible joke at the end.

The espresso stand down in the atrium of one building I work in is named "An Ounce of Prevention". (This is in a cancer research center.) The name is in segments of letters (trios, I think) above the stand. Well, this morning, the last set ("ion") had fallen off and was sitting on the shade below its former place.

"Yes," the barrista told me, "We are now 'An Ounce of Prevent'."

"You really need to get that fixed," I replied. "Those free ions will kill you."

He hadn't had that one sprung on him yet.

You're a radical! :)

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

I'm sure others do; most of our department's lower-division classes are on 4-days-a-week schedules. It just happens my "off day" for lecture is Wednesday. Since the lab sections meet on Wednesday & Thursday, technically I don't have Wednesday off, but there is no point in having the first lab before the first lecture, so neither lab section will meet this week. I've left a sign on the lab room door to that effect already.

Awfully polite of you. I've had any number of profs/TAs that were nowhere near that nice.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

I tried it last spring' date=' going on the very first meeting; not very satisfactory results. Especially in this case it doesn't work well, because I can't legitimately assume they have had a chance to read the syllabus.[/quote']

Once for a lab that met for the first time before the first lecture the TA decided to give a quiz the first day. The only questions were your name, the name of the class, and the TAs name (which she had already told us and wrote on a chalkboard). She was basically taking attendance, but reinforced with a grade impact. The people that blew it off because it was before we'd even been to lecture once were a bit annoyed.

She cut us loose shortly after giving the quiz. :)
