Cancer
There are reasons why I don't pay much attention to people who work on Theories of Everything.
Bazza
Is is because physics has limitations and thus can't encompass everything?
Cancer
No, it's because people who work on such things tend not to concern themselves with observable consequences of their theories, which means they can't be tested (and proven wrong). Cancer
That's a notorious case. I've never looked into the mathematics of strings, though.

L. Marcus
One of the all-time greats in Belgian comics, Gaston Lagaffe by André Franquin, is getting a bound, translated, omnibus edition in six volumes. Me and bro D. just bought the three first volumes for bro F. for his birthday next week. tkdguy and Bazza

L. Marcus
He ought to -- he's all but wished for it a while back. But he'll have to buy the last three volumes himself, or wait until Christmas or his next birthday -- the price is rather steep, something like fifty US bucks per volume. Bazza
"“I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned.” ― Richard P. Feynman:Lined notebook." I'm not sure if it is attributed to a direct quote of Feynman's. But paraphrasing it: "do you want certain knowledge or not?". Because, to me, if you have certain knowledge you have answers that can't be questioned. The ancients (cf. Middle Platonists) and the Traditional school referred to this as true knowledge. A characteristic inclines it to be universal.
