Arrowsmith! Labor of love by Busiek and Carlos Pacheco. Well-written, well-drawn, entertaining. Alternate WWI (yes, ONE) where fantasy and magic replace the normal early 20th C tech - fly with the aid of spells and dragons instead of biplanes, fire-bomb using bound Salamanders, etc. Six issue mini-series, and also half of a "flip book" with Astro City on the other side. Get a trade/back issues if you can, and hopefully more will be forthcoming.

He and George Perez started the newest series of Avengers (the classic versions, not the Ultimate line). Quite popular and critically acclaimed - kind of a return to classic characterizations and plots, but with a more modern sensibility a la Astro City.

Busiek and Perez also produced the recent Avengers/JLA crossover epic miniseries. I found that to be fun and exciting, with some interesting comparisons of the two comic universes. Started a bit slow and predictably IMHO, but worked up to a rousing finish.

This is one of the coolest things he's done. It'd make a great game setting.

Busiek on JLA' date=' thank you god!!! When will this happen?[/quote']

As soon as Chuck Austen's current, very wretched run on JLA is complete, Busiek and Garney have a story arc - the return of the post-CRISIS, Grant Morrison version of the Crime Syndicate of Amerika - followed by Dan Jurgens and someone else doing an arc of some sort for 4-5 issues, then Busiek and Garney are slated as the ongoing team.

I'm very much looking forward to this.

Busiek's Conan has been getting great reviews so if you ever liked Conan you should pick it up.

Busiek writes a very good Conan, both true to the original RE Howard stories and very much in the spirit of the heyday of the old Marvel version. The art has been top-notch as well. Highly recommended.
