Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Many of you will remember the Almalgam Universe from several years back. While the universe was a interesting concept, the characters were, on the most part, lame.

I'm trying to create a con one shot where the JLA (Justice League Avengers) face off against the Masters of Injustice. While I have a few ideas for characters, I don't have enough knowledge of the various good guys and bad guys to create all the heros or the villians.

Here are the ground rules.

The Almalgam JLAers must have both of their component parts be members (past or present) of the Justice League and the Avengers.

The villians have a little more leeway, but one or the other must either be from the Injustice League or the Masters of Evil.

A breif paragraph or two background is all that is nessessary, but I'll take full write-ups, Hero Creator files, and even pictures. (hint, hint  )

The next post will be my ideas so far.

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Justice League, Avengers roster:

SUPERSOLIER (Captain America + Superman):

Steven Clark Rogers was a sickly young man who wished to do his part in WWII. A Government Experiment infused him with a serum made from the DNA of a dead alien child found in Kansas. The serum made him super strong, nearly invulnerable, and gave him the ability to fly.

Equipped with a shield cut from the alien craft, he fought the Nazi’s during WWII. Near the end of the war, The Green Skull used a prototype K(ryptonite)-bomb and launched it at Washington. Supersoldier redirected it and caused it to explode harmlessly over the Caribbean (he thought) but was thrown into the negative zone by the explosion.

He was released during the testing of a new K-bomb that created the Doom-hulk. He teamed up with the first incarnation of the Justice League, Avengers to stop the Doom-Hulk. He has been with them, and is considered a founding member since then.

LIVING LANTERN (Wonderman + Green Lantern):

Simon Williams was a small time actor and small time crook. When he was paid to help sneak a few thugs into the studio he was working at, he didn’t think twice. The thugs worked for the local Mob boss, who wanted to shake the studio down for protection money. Simon let them in, then went about his business.

His work took him past the studio head offices, where he heard a scream. Rushing in, he found the thugs he had let in threatening the Studio President and his secretary. Simon had a crush on the secretary, and when told to leave, didn’t. He jumped one of the goons and started fighting him. The other thug clubbed him over the head with his pistol butt, and when he fell to the floor, shot him.

While he lay dying, he realized his life had been meaningless, and he wished he could make amends. At the same time, Norrin Radd, the sector’s Lantern, was fatally wounded in a battle in space, and crashed into the desert outside LA. Knowing he would not survive, Radd sent out his power source to find a worthy successor. Simon’s change of heart was a true one, and being the nearest worthy being, was approached. Williams listened to the appeal and realized he could make amends for the wrong he had done. He accepted, and absorbed the power, healing himself.

Now, when he calls upon the power of the lantern, he becomes a being of living energy. He splits his time between Earth and the rest of his patrol sector.

AMAZON (She-Hulk + Wonder Woman): Princess of the Amazon Isle of Themescria, Diana was bathed in the radiation of the exploding K-bomb that sent Super-Soldier into the Negative Zone. She mutated and grew, beomeing an enraged Jade Giantess. The mystics on Thymescria, after years of trail, healed her enough so she could control her rage. She was then gifted with other powers by the Greek gods and sent to the outside world to show mankind the folly of the path it was on.

MERCURY (Quicksilver + Flash):(Anyone want to attempt a write up?)

THUNDERGOD (Thor + Captain Marvel):

Billy Batson was a young boy who made money working as a paperboy. Running from a gang of punks, he ducked into an alley, only to find himself in a cave, with a voice welcoming him and bidding for him to enter. An old man, with only one eye, sat on a throne within the cave. The old man told Billy that he was chosen as the bearer of the power of THOR. He gave Billy a small hammer, telling him, “Strike this hammer upon the ground, and shout “By the power of thunder.†And you will gain the power of Thor. Beware, though, as this power may only be used for good, or you will lose it.â€

Billy did as he was told, and became an adult version of himself: strong, tough, and wielding the power to summon storms and call lightning. Since then he has joined the JL,A and has become one of the most stalwart members.

MARINER (Namor + Aquaman):(Anyone want to attempt a write up?)

MANHUNTER (Vision + Martian Manhunter):(Anyone want to attempt a write up?)

???? (Hank Pym, Justice, + Firestorm): Vance Raymond (Vance Astro and Ronnie Raymond) and Hank Stein (Hank Pym and Martin Stein) can trigger a fusion into a single being. Vance is a mutant with minor telekinetic powers and Dr. Stein has invented away to shrink or grow objects and people. When fused together they can shrink/grow objects from a distance. Shrink/grow themselves, or use minor telekinetic powers for defense. When Dr. Stein forms the fusion, they are better able to control the shrinking and growing aspects, and when Vance triggers the change, they are better able to work the telekinetic part. (I'm not sure about this one?)

Iron Knight (Ironman + Batman): Anthony Bruce Wayne was the son and heir of a rich industrialist. After his parents were murdered in front of his eyes, he vowed to fight, and bring to justice, the forces of crime and evil that had killed his parents.

He studied for years both criminology and the sciences, until he could build a battlesuit to use in his crusade against crime. Calling himself Iron Knight, his suit has bleeding edge stealth technology and mostly non-lethal weaponry, as he does not want to become what he fights.

As Anthony Wayne he runs his families corporation and is well known as a philanthropist.

How many points? Do I have to stick to pure 5th Edition? I'm a Heromaker-only guy, so it might come out in some bastardization of 4th and 5th.

Build to concept. This is the heavy hitters of the Almalgam Universe. I'll tweak him if I have to.

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Manhunter:

Dr. Sam Erdel wanted to reach out and touch the stars with his experimental teleporter. The beam played through the solar system, touching on an artifact on the surface of Mars. Dr. Erdel was astonished to find that he had found a cybernetic organism that had survived the extinction of all life on the red planet.

The cyborg activated, scanned its surroundings, and decided to learn to live with the humans. It adopted an identity as detective Jim Jones to blend in and protect the innocent with its martian powers.

Mariner:

Arthur Namor was the product of a liason between an Alantean Princess and a sailor. He grew to manhood unaware of his heritage until he fell into the ocean near his home on the upper world. He quickly learned he had the ability to command the surrounding sea life as well as being able to swim almost as fast as a plane could fly through the air. This coupled with his great strength and immunity to the depths allows him to operate as the defender of the seven seas.

Arrow Witch (Scarlet Witch/Green Arrow):

Wanda Queen always had an eye for archery, but it was a leisure activity until she was stranded on a desert island. She honed her skills to survive, which awakened her mutant ability. Arrows went wherever she aimed, and when they struck, strange effects were bound to happen.

Discovering a band of pirates landing on her island, Wanda adopted the identity of the Arrow Witch to rout them and return to the mainland.

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

For Living Lantern I would like to make a few suggestions.....

Maybe use Kyle Williams or Simon Rayner to also almalgam both names.

Maybe change his origin story to reflect the career of the two people making the amalgam. Kyle (a graphic artist) and Simon (a weapons developer) would give you someone who designed concept weapons, an idea man of a sort.

Norrin Radd is Silver Surfer, so if your using him as the sector lantern might I suggest Norrin Sur or Abin Radd.

Possibly return the powers a little back towards the lantern as well. Have Living Lantern wear a ring that he must touch to the lantern he summons from an extra-dimensional space. This causes him to change into the being of living energy? More for flavour than anything since that would take place off camera anyway.

Now for a bit of linkage to aid with the amalgam's...

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Let's see, some of the Masters of Injustice...

Baron Luthor Memno - (Baron Zemo + Lex Luthor + Agamemno)

*Designer of the K-Bomb used by the Green Skull. Cast into the Negative Zone near the end of the war by a lab accident caused by Allied bombing of his lab-bunker. Slipped back out unnoticed in the same explosion that freed Supersoldier. Super-scientist with many inventions including his Adhesive L-X (a variant of which at times incorporates Kryptonite). The same explosion that wrecked his lab and sent him to the Negative Zone also coated his hair in Adhesive L-X, and it fell out, never to regrow.

Elemental Man - (Radioactive Man + Mr. Element+Absorbing Man)

*After Thundergod foiled a Red Chinese plot, the Chinese kidnapped American Albert Desmond to assist them in making an agent capable of defeating Thundergod. Working with (and on) Dr. Chen Lu, they managed to infuse Lu with immense power. Now, he can take on the form of any element, and can absorb the properties of anything he touches!(One-man "Elements of Evil")

Felicity Faust - (Enchantress + Felix Faust)

*Mystic who was accepted into Themyscria. One of main sorceresses responsible for Amazon's recovery. She expected to be rewarded herself with the power of the gods - when it was given to Amazon instead, she flew off in a rage, swearing revenge.

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

There has to be a way to get Blue Beetle and Booster Gold in the mix.

Edit: Of course:

Scarlet Beetle: Finding the Scarlet Scarab in an ancient tomb, Ted (argh, can't remember either of their last names) is granted the power to wield chaos magic.

Edit of Edit: For a slight Ranma twist, you can make Ted Kord a male in secret ID, and the Scarlet Scarab transforms him into the Scarlet Beetle, a reincarnated female Egyptian Priestess. Ugh, I need to get back to work.

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

I would have gone with Blue Beast (emphasizing the scientific aspects) or Moon Beatle (Moon Knight emphasizing the adventurerer, explorer aspects)...

Booster Gold is a bit tougher...

Perhaps the lesser known Mr. Immortal and Booster Gold (I can't think of a time traveling Avenger to use that would fit better)... Black Knight might also be a good fit (Black Gold anyone?)

I'd also like to throw Dr. Fate / Quasar into the mix... Not sure what a good name would be... Dr. Pulsar maybe?

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

yet another villain...

Klaw (Klaw + Sinestro)

*Former Green Lantern who used his ring for evil, cast out of the Corps, losing his hand in the process. Created a "power ring" of his own in the form of an attachment in place of his missing hand, managing to siphon off energy from the main power battery, in the process the energy became yellow. Years later, he projected himself through his converter, becoming pure sentient power!

Darkblob - Darkseid + The Blob. He rules a hundred worlds, but cannot rule his appetites. Vast is his power; Vaster are his trousers.

Let the world tremble vefore The Bizzarinski!

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Young Bruce Parker was out with his parents one night, returning home from the theater, when they were mugged. His parents killed in front of him, young Bruce was sent to live with his mother's sister, May. One night while obsessively brooding over his parents' deaths, what does he see silhouetted against the rising moon but a spider in a web. "That's it!" he thinks. "That will be my symbol!" So he goes into training, and with his inheritance he creates an array of gadgets for himself: gloves and boots that allow him to cling to walls, wrist-mounted web shooters, and a utility belt full of other miscellaneous devices.

He becomes known as... the Spider!

(Apparently Spider-Man was a member of the Avengers at one time...)

Re: Justice League Avengers, Assemble!

Hmm ... how about:

Hawkeye (Hawkman + Hawkeye): Former Than'airian (Thanagar + Shi'ar) police officer, Klinton Hal, now battles crime on earth with a variety of both Earth and Than'arian weaponry. Along with his soul mate, the beautiful Mockingbird (Hawkgirl +

Mockingbird), a former agent of a SHIELD, they battle villainy from both worlds.

Goldhawk (Booster Gold + Darkhawk): An unknown figure from the 26th century, the hero known as Goldhawk uses a special crystal that grants him his marvelous armor and gold-beams.

Steel Machine (War Machine + Steel): Jim Henry's life changed the day that he started working for Anthony Wayne. Originally a weapons consultant, he quickly discovered Wayne's secret and, utilizing some of the tech, made a suit of armor for himself. Calling himself Steel Machine, he's become an icon on the streets of NYC.

Nightspider (Nightwing + Spiderman): Pete Grayson was adopted at a young age by industrialist Tony Wayne. Though originally a carnival orphan, Pete adapted to a normal life and used some of the tricks he had learned to get him onto his school's gymnast program. Then, on one fateful field trip, Pete was bitten by a genetically altered spider and gained some of its abilities. Revealing his newfound abilities to his mentor, Wayne gave Pete some spider-themed equipment and unleashed the youth on the city as the crimefighter Nightspider!

Silly Putty (Sandman + Plastic Man): Former criminal, Eel Marko, found his life changed after agreeing to work for Rupert Hammer. Undergoing an experimental process, he was quickly changed to human silly putty and quickly adapted to a life of crime as part of Nightspider's rogue's gallery. After many defeats, he decided that maybe he should try the other side and has since turned over a new leaf.

The Scarlet Stranger (Scarlet Witch + Phantom Stranger): No one knows who this strange being is ... all that's known is that she walks the worlds, helping when she can and serving a greater cause with her reality-warping abilities.

The Bouncin' Blue Beast (Blue Beetle + Beast): Archeaologist Ted McCoy was astounded to find proof of En-Sabah-Nabu's existance in an Egyptian tomb. But this knowledge came with a price, changing young McCoy into a blue-furred beast. Adpating to his new appearance, the hero has fought with both the X-Patrol and JLA.

On a humorous note...

Grimmseid (Thing + Darkseid)

*Sole survivor of a rocketship launch, Ben Grimm absorbed massive quantities of cosmic ray energy. Trapped in a hideous rocky form, Grimm took the name Grimmseid and conquered Apokoyancylips, the planet he crashed on. With his immense strength and "Ever-Hatin'-Blue-Eye-Beams" he is the terror of millions. His legions of Yancydemons threaten Earth on a regular basis.

Remind me to start a thread on "Avengers League Z" :eg:

for this one:

MoonSpectre(Moon Knight +Spectre)

ScarletZ(Zatanna+ Scarlet Witch)

IronStorm(Iron Man+Firestorm)--wealthy industrialist caught in nuclear accident creates a suit of powered armor to contain the raging radioactive storm inside him

Superthor, the ThunderGod of Steel, the Asgardian of Tomorrow--a mild-mannered reporter, stuck in a cave with another reporter, tries to protect his identity by using a handy stick to move the boulder out of the way...

oh, and Dr. Doomsday from Amalgam was a cute touch...

Cool ideas, great thread Tim! I don't usually go for specific character threads but I love the amalgam thing.

How about Aquavision, the Atlantean robot built to safeguard Atlantis but recently freed and, being sentient, decided to embark on working to make the humans' world safer, as that always threatens his state? He turns all watery as well as talks to sea animals.
