Thia Halmades
Re: Unofficial Welcome Mat (For New Members) That's extreme. You only need... well, you NEED one. We generally ("we" = me & ghost-angel) the following: HERO System 5th Edition Revised (doi) Ultimate Martial Artist ('cause it's so good) HERO System Equipment Guide HERO System Combat Handbook The Ultimate Skill Your Genre of Choice (Dark Champs, Pulp Hero, Fantasy HERO, etc.) Then you can move on as necessary from there. I'd replace Ultimate Martial Artist with Ultimate Vehicle. But that's 'cuz I have little interest in martial characters.

Thank you. (This message brought to you by the Coalition of New Players for an Easier Freaking Time Designing Stuff). I want to, but looking in the online store all it says is SKU: DOJHERO740 A 2 year support contract for Hero Designer version 3 -- character creation software for HERO System, 5th Edition. All operating systems with Java 5 Standard Edition are supported. I just want to make sure if I burn 25 bucks on this I end up with the actualt software, preferably including a disk, and not just a service agreement for software I still don't have. This may be semantics, but I'd rather ask the question and have the answer be: "Yes, of course... are you kidding me?" instead of: "No, it's a good thing you asked because I made the same mistake and now I look back on it and lament my lack of attention to detail." Yes. I bought it and you get the software. And it works wonders. I highly recommend it. Also, you can download hdc files from Surbrook's Stuff (http://surbrook.devermore.net/index/), making it easier to customize material I post there. LordSkatterhawk
Re: Unofficial Welcome Mat (For New Members) Ooh! An unofficial welcome mat! *Wipes feet* I am a newbie to this game*, so I thought I'd pop in and make use of this nice unofficial welcoming area. Thanks for being so kind everyone. You're all HEROes in my book. (Okay, so maybe some of you are villains. If so, then you can be listed in the Misguided and Misunderstood chapter at your discretion.) Also, I'd like to take this moment to remind the new people, and the vets, that lurkers are people too. *Unless chronological time owning 5ER establishes non-newbie status, or my number of posts exceeds the heretofore unknown newbie threshold. In that case, I guess I am a lurker since I have never played a game of HERO.
