ghost-angel
RPG.Net is doing a Supers Week to ramp up some anticipation for Spiderman III coming out this Friday. As part of this all the reviews this week will be Superhero related; whether it be gaming, movies, or whatever. (I've got some reviews going in, you should go read them, and buy the books, and tell everyone all about how cool Hero is... you really should. I command you.) Also, Shannon Appelcline from RPG.Net has written an article regarding the beginings, middles and continuings (that a word?) of the Superhero Gaming Genre. Go read Part One, which is a brief but informative view of the beginings of the genre in RPGs. And reaffirms that Champions may not have started it, but they made it big. Super even. FenrisUlf
Re: [RPG.Net Article] The Birth Of The Superhero Game So even if Champions wasn't the first, or even the most heavily hyped, it's always been the best. This is news how?
saiyanslayer
Re: [RPG.Net Article] The Birth Of The Superhero Game great link, nice to know how things started. Unlike some people, I wasn't here from the beginning
OddHat
Re: [RPG.Net Article] The Birth Of The Superhero Game Great first segment. Strange to be reminded how early in the history of the industry I started playing. I first played D&D in 77, V&V in 80, Champions in 82 or 83, picked up Superworld, Marvel Superheroes, and DC Heroes as they came out (though I didn't play them)...Nostalgia City. Certified
Re: [RPG.Net Article] The Birth Of The Superhero Game The articles had a lot of great background. It’s nice to see the history of some of these games. I used to get a kick out of the old Marvel system for the random factor. Only game I can think of that you can roll D% about 20 times not know anything about your character and just go down the list to se what you have. That was over when we came across Champions 3rd Ed. Read Aberrant at a book store and never knew they had a d20 reprint. It’s been said before but great find.
Narratio
Re: [RPG.Net Article] The Birth Of The Superhero Game Good articles. I'm only missing 4 games mentioned; Godlike, Silver Age Sentinels, The Authority and Truth & Justice. This tells me that I haev too much money and no life. Maybe i should switch from RPG's to cocaine, it may be cheaper.
