Swoop

 

Despite having one of the silliest bird costumes going, Swoop is a well known supervillain. Few people remember that he got his start on the first incarnation of the Crazy 8 providing air support and recon. He did so well he got better jobs and has never looked back. He is not the best airborne villain, nor the most deadliest but he is a survivor and dependable.

 

This is 7. We need at least one more entry.

Whoever gets #8 can decide if we continue to #16 (or until all 8 teams are filled, whatever comes first), or start a new team (and we finish the Crazy Eight later).

Mr Infinite

 

Was a member of the first team . He is a duplicator able to make a seemingly infinite number of duplicates unfortunately equipment is not duplicated but very few people can stand against a literal human wave attack. Mr Infinite left the crazy eights after he was seemly killed on a job.

 

The truth is slightly different Mr infinite can only create 8 duplicates . his alpha duplicates are mind linked to him and duplicate his clothing and equipment . the alpha dupes can create several thousand ancillary duplicates which are Normal human level agents no mind link or equipment. when his first alpha was killed infinite prime was put into a coma for over a year and decided to with draw from the front lines he spent time after his recovery qualifying as a general contractor and electrical engineer. He then spent time improving his combat skills and even training in gymnastics( in particular human pyramids and over group techniques).

 

Now he mostly works for other villains if you need a base set up or stripped down or a load of faceless minions (must provide weapons and uniforms) he is your man keeping his alpha bodies safe while ancillaries work and mr infinite prime lives in seclusion somewhere in the Caribbean.

 

When he was on the team he wore a black suit with a Nehru collar with silver infinity symbols on either side with a black domino mask . His alphas still wear this but the ancillaries usually have a uniform provided by his employer.

It is up to the group if we continue. Half the fun is in the characters history with the group, so I am all for members serving multiple incantations of the group. Next time I do this, it will be team 9 and 10.

I have an idea for a similar sort of group so rather than do another version of this particular grouping, drop me a line and I'll give you an outline so that you can kick it off. But not for a while.

 

Incandescent

 

This villain served on the 7th team only so far providing energy support and also a blinding light that caused peoplenot to be able to look at him or for that matter anyone else.

Speed Star

 

This speedster has served on the last three teams and is a pain to law enforcement and also to his colleagues who he refers to, charotably, as his henchmen or the 'B' team as the 'A' team are away on another job. He has been knwn to stop and pose for photographs and also to sign autographs. However the police failed to entrap him when he did this near them. He specialises in not getting hit and running rings around the opposition.

Once we are filled to capacity with the C8, if he wishes, we can tackle his. As for me... once all 8 teams are filled, I will hold off on introducing the 9th and 10th team of C8 till later. Stategos

 

An unusual villain as he never knew what powers he would turn up with or even when. This villain served on the first three teams but then appeared on the 5th and 7th teams. The reason was the villain's obsession with prime numbers. Despite his variable power set he has served well with any team he has been on even if some people find his obsession with prime numbers a bit odd.

 

Team 5 is now full.

The Cracksman

 

Cracksmen were those able to commit burglaries and open safes as in Raffles the Amateur Cracksman. The man whose identitiy is The Cracksman is good at getting around security systems, disabling computer programs and opening safes of all kinds. However his combat skills are minimal meaning he needs the rest of the team to do the real fighting while he cracks the codes/doors/systems. He served on the first three teams and the last three.

 

Teams 1, 5 and 6 are now full.

4X4 the 

 

4X4 is the newest recruit fro the Crazy 8's and has only been with the latest incarnation of the team

 

4X4 is the alias of Nelik Xavier Chetyre The youngest son of a Russian oligarch and his gorgeous Estonian wife born into wealth an privilege he lived a pampered life But Nelik was a trouble maker and thrill seeker.

 

He was kicked out of one exclusive school after another for dangerous stunts climbing the ramparts stealing tests or sedcuing female staff. Eventually at 18 Nelik dropped out of University and took his trust fund and disappeared travelling the world learning parkour and urban exploration paris, Escrima in the philippines  spent several months fighting in an illegal fight circuit in bangkok. he also participated in every extreme sport imaginable .

 

While participating the Famous Dakar rally in South America his teams custom offroader fell victim to a sudden rock slide Nelik was thrown clear and when he regained consciousness he found him self trapped in a deep cave exposed by the land slide unable to climb the steep sides of the crevice he had fallen into and with a  severely broken leg Nelik forced him self to crawl through the cave system to search for a way out. After what seemed like days but could have been merely hours, Dehydrated exhausted and delirious from the pain of his broken leg

 

Nelik found him self in a cavern that seemed to be a temple pictograms of a style unlike any he was familiar with where carved into every surface of the the living rock. at the very center of the cavern was a huge Geode split in half and filled with water the crystals within glowing faintly illuminating this lost place. Nelik crawled to the geode alter and drank hungrily and that's when he heard the voices  they where in his head and also all around him speaking in a language he didn't know but could understand as if it was his mother tongue.

 

"it has been a long time since anyone has completed the trials we deem you worthy warrior" and with that Nelik passed out he was found an unknown time later wandering the jungle by a search team that had rescued his team mates. 

 

Nelik just assumed the cave had been a dream from concussion and pain after all his leg wasn't broken when they found him actual the doctors had been amazed what good shape he was in no dehydration starvation or other symptoms of exposure other than the confusion he was in absolutely perfect health.

 

Fed up with the jungle and more than a little disturbed by the vivid dreams he was still experiencing about the caves,  he headed to moscow to drown out the whole incident he was drinking in one of his favorite clubs but no matter how hard he drank he could barely get a buzz when a cute girl started giving him the eye. Of course it turned out she was some crazy Bratva thug's woman and he pulled a knife on Nelik the knife ruined a nice silk shirt but didn't even scratch Nelik's skin and when he pushed the thug away he flew 30 feet across the club and smashed a huge mirror . shocked by the events Nelik fled the club and spent the next few days experimenting with his new abilities.

 

4X4 is a mid level brick not hugely strong but with skin that can turn aside bullets he has also retained his natural agility and speed making him something of a surprise to heroes who expect a straight up brick fight 4x4 will use Parkour to come from unexpected angles martial arts and even guns to give him self an edge against a stronger foe.

Nelik is also very much against type for a brick while he is in superb shape he has much more of a surfer or climbers physique than that of a body builder or worlds strongest man contestant like many bricks

 

4X4 is a skilled driver and pilot and often operates as the Teams getaway driver.

 

he has also performed some seemingly insane stunts as part of operations such as wing suiting through a 60 story window while the rest of the team set up a diversion at street level robbing jewelry store in the opposite building.. just to acquire some blue prints for a client.

 

Nelik is a thrill seeker and dare devil with a seeming death wish he is not truly happy unless he is throwing himself out of a plane or hurtling down a mountain since getting his powers he has been forced to go to even further extremes the main reason he is on the team is that its the best way for him to get a real thrill and challenge now that he has powers.

 

He completes team 8 leaving a minimum of 2 and a max of 5 to complete all the teams

J'Ber

 

This alien human hybrid has served on teams 2, 3, 4 and 7. He is a brick type and is usually brought in when they need someone to take damage or they need extra carrying capacity. Despite his odd blue skin he does not tend to react or have much of a personality but he is famous for having fought quite a few heroes. He follows orders but can adapt if everything goes to Hull in a handbasket. It is one of the reasons he keeps getting work with the teams. That and the fact he is doing nothing else.

 

The missing member of team 4 was Hex'en Dreadful. He was a stage magic using villain who was trying to distract the heroes and the police. However charm and sleight of hand are not so good when the bullets are flying.

Hex'en was lucky to survive and perhaps fortunate to be arrested and imprisoned.

 

Time for some fun methinks.

New Team: The Magnificent Seven

This villain team number seven (naturally) but have never had any replacements as they have all managed to survive. Despite the fact that several members of law enforcement or organisations have done their level best to kill them. The Seven do not stand for truth and justice but are not raging psychopaths or wanton murderers.

There must be at least 1 brick and 1 energy projector in the group.

No member of the team is a full robot or cyborg but replacements for lost limbs by cybernetics or prosthetics is allowed. If you use this option some specification as to how this came about would be appreciated.

The team leadership varies depending on the job.

They have broken into prisons to release their own or others.

They do have a bit of a code relating to the treatment of innocent women and childen. Women and children trying to kill them are a different matter.

You don't have to have a cowboy theme or member but I'm not actively discouraging this.

Some reason for the dislike/hatred by law enforcement is encouraged i.e. relation is a cop, a Hatfield/McCoy situation etc.

There can be women members but no more than 3 members of the group.

Michael " Mack the knife" Mackenzie

collection 

was a successful circus performer an expert knife thrower until he ended up in a bar-fight in a small town somewhere down south.

 

Some drunken moron drew a gun and Mack had drawn and thrown one of his knives before he even consciously registered the threat. The gun totting yokel went down with a knife in his throat and Mack went to jail. Where he discovered said yokel was the nephew of the local sheriff, grand son of the local judge and good friend of everyone on the jury that indicted him for murder.

 

Mack went to a supermax prison. He was willing to just bide his time and try to appeal the case somewhere he wouldn't be railroaded by friends of the man he killed. that was until he stepped in to protect this skinny little rube who was about to get shived in the lunch room one we thrown spoon followed by a running tackle and the rube was looking to Mack as his bodyguard.

 

On the plus side turned out the little guy had juice. Mack started getting the best of life in prison and the little guy turned out to be connected with some serious guys on the outside he was their fixer and money launderer and for his help he invited mack along when he got busted out. when he got out the fixer helped him get set up as a Super-villain with a collection of trick throwing knives and a reputation as a honest and honorable criminal Mack had worked with several other members when they got the idea to start the Seven and he was a first pick.

L. A. Lake is a man who once had it all but lost it due to an affair with a woman. Now wanted, he makes a living at being the best armed tactician in the room. This has earned him a heavy turnout from police forces anywhere he works.

 

The Lancer has earned his reputation for escapes from high risk crimes.

Mike "Oxbow" Bowers is the team's brick and likes to say he's "stronger than a dozen ox and twice as tough."  Since his mutation includes thick hair all over his body and horns curving up from the sides of his head, Oxbow has had to deal with more than his share of teasing and prejudice throughout his life, which has given him a rather short fuse.  Unfortunately, that short fuse led to a bar brawl that left an off-duty sheriff's deputy crippled for life.  Rather than go to prison, Oxbow ran off.  Since his horns, hair and general big-ness makes Oxbow rather conspicuous, he turned to crime to make ends meet, and eventually ended up in the Magnificent Seven.

There is always one guy like that. You know the one. He has the looks and thinks he can get away with anything. He can charm the bird out of the trees and stop the guys from hitting him by talking to them. He'll hit on your girl while you are on a date with her. He'll steal your drink. He'll steal your car but only for a joyride. Jack Nicholls is such a guy. And when a guy like this gets superpowers it can only end in trouble. Jack is a brick but he is not as strong as Mike. But he can fly.

Jack has really got under the skin of practically every singe law enforcement unit in the States. He knocked off the wife, the daughter and the sister of his opponents for example. And is it really his fault if he humiliates his foes ? (Yes)

The police have tried all sorts of things to get him including implying that he sold out the rest of the team (this was the FBI but they deny it empahatically. Too emphatically).

Trouble is Jack has conections. People know him. He makes friends easily. Jack knew the guy Michael was in prison with. And was one of the first members.

Jack carries a pair of six shooters as a nod to the film but he can use them. He usually does this to shoot guns out of people's hands. He did that when a couple of guys tried to shoot Michael. Not Jack's fault that they were cops connected to the case that got Mike in trouble in the first place. Now he's on their list as well. Oh well. It is a good job he's so good looking and can get any woman he wants but please no handcuffs.

His nom de guerre is Vin Tanner. That was Steve McQueen's name in the film btw.

William "Big Boy" Boyd

 

William Boyd was born a record breaker the biggest birth weight on record.

 

he continued to grow at an exaggerated rate. a giant relative to other kids his age. he was often ostracized by other kids and bullied because he couldn't fight back without hurting someone. Through out his school career treated like a big dumb brute but William was gifted with a world record IQ William would keep his mind a secret barely maintaining a passing grade in school while studying college level subjects at night.

 

when he dropped out of school at 16 he got a fake ID and started working as a doorman. Normally his giant size and strength would be enough but one night he got in trouble when he went up against a drunk who actually knew how to fight beaten and bloody.

 

he was rescued by his co worker a relativity petite woman who was a  semi professional MMA fighter. She suggested he take a few martial arts classes.

 

William  found that he loved the martial arts the precision and mental discipline appealed to him greatly He also developed a love for the great tacticians Sun Tzu and the book of five rings to begin with then Von Clausewitz and modern tacticians..

 

It was shortly after he got his first of several back belts that he was approached by a local gangster who wanted him as a bodyguard.

 

The money was great and there where perks like girls and nice cloths that 19 year old William appreciated. William worked for his boss for a while but realized he was over reaching and left before his empire collapsed. William Moving to work for a bigger boss he kept noticing the same thing that the men he worked for where stupid brutal men who could barely plan.  William had become fed up with it and wanted to start working for him self and as luck would have it that is when he met Jack Nicholls.

 

Together they put together the Seven  William is the mastermind making up the strategic plan Jack is the teams fixer he arranges things gets equipment and makes agreements and L.A. Lake is there tactical commander .

 

William is a normal human slightly stronger than most due to his prodigious size.. he is often mistaken for a brick and acquired a force-field belt for this very reason as superheroes often assumed he could take more damage than he  can his knowledge of over a dozen martial arts and quick intellect make him a fearsome opponent but generally when operations he acts like a dumb brute, communicating his observations to his team mates using a system of code-words and hand signs he developed.

Steel Maiden didn't start out with that name.  Originally, she was Victoria Excalibur, an agent for Her Majesty's government.  And quite a good one too.  Until she fell in love with one of her fellow agents, ignoring his nickname, "the Black Widower."  Things were going just fine until they were surrounded by Dr. Destroyer's minions, and she learned how he earned that name--by abandoning his lovers to die.

 

Except that she didn't die, just lost an arm.  As it happened, Zerstoiten had nothing better to do that day, so he replaced her arm with an experimental prosthetic.  She no longer has it, as it was programmed to self-destruct should she ever cross Destroyer.  Her attempts to get revenge on Black Widower earned Steel Maiden the enmity of British law enforcement, also, more missing parts that were replaced by cybernetics (none ever quite as powerful as the first, but with less self-destruct sequences.)  She's now more than 80% metal and wires, replete with useful weapons.  Most of her money earned from the Magnificent Seven goes into maintenance.

Dead Eye

 

Dan Edsley was born in rural virginia and was always a great shot from his first bb gun to hunting rifles he was always a remarkable shot he took that skill to the marines when he left high school and was selected for Force recon where he excelled for several years.

 

During a deployment in Iraq Dan found out that his father had developed cancer the family was struggling to provide care and might lose the ancestral home. Dan was desperate to do something so when the opportunity arose to take part in a black market smuggling scheme taking looted antiquities out of Baghdad he jumped at it and it worked he salted away tens of thousands of dollars until the marine corps Criminal investigation department caught up with him and the rest of the conspirators.

 

he was quickly framed by the others as the mastermind which the marine corps was happy to go along with especially as the real ring leader was a senators son. dan spent 5 years in the Camp Pendleton brig before being dishonourably discharged.

 

Almost immediately after the discharge he was approached by a private military contractor who aware of his skill wanted to recruit him. it went pretty well for a year Dan preferred the less rigid discipline of the mercenary life.H e probably would have stuck it out for a few years and built a nest egg before retiring, if his fire team hadn't triggered an IED on patrol.

 

Dan was rear guard and only caught part of the blast the rest of his team where not so lucky. dan took shrapnel to his right eye and blast damage to his left leaving him with only 50% vision.  he thought was never going to shoot again that was until the defence contractor that hired  his firm offered him a chance to take part in their experimental cybernetic program his right eye was replaced and his eye socket rebuilt with titanium allowing Dan to see in infra red and thermographic vision the implant also allows him to control specially designed drones .

 

Dan was fed up of being poked and prodded and used like a Lab rat with no end in sight. He reached out to an Old friend LA Lake. Lake and the rest of what would become the seven agreed to bust him out of the R&D lab he was being held in dan escaped with his cybernetics a lot of corporate secrets and most importantly for him the advanced combat system his eye was designed to interface with advanced body armour a pistol and rifle slaved to his new optic and most importantly 6 energy weapon totting  spherical micro drones which he calls his Evil Eyes.

 

Dan is the Sevens range specialist weather its precision fire at long range with his smart rifle or close in with his smart pistol he is a deadly shot combined with the 6 evil eye drones each carrying a different energy weapon he is able to face off against a large number of foes Dan also uses The drones for recon due to there small size they make excellent scouts.

 

the 6 eyes are 1 Sharp Eye: precision laser, 2 Cold Eye: Freeze ray, 3 Red Eye: Heat ray 4:Quick Eye: Auto fire pulson blaster 5 Lazy Eye stun blaster & 6  Eye Scream sonic blaster.

 

As Dead Eye Dan wears a black eye patch to cover his implant unless he is using his rifle scope when he will flick it up he wears a black leather duster over his combat armour which is a dark grey pixelated urban camo the duster allows him to conceal his weapons and the drones which flatten into compact saucers when not in use he also carries a few grenades and other tools on a utility belt.

 

in combat Dan tends to stay in cover sniping foes and using his Eyes to flank opponents He is a great believer in researching enemies and has committed to memory dossiers on heroes and LEO groups that the Seven may face he will try to use any weaknesses to his advantage for example targeting heroes with super hearing with Eye screams sonic weapons etc.

 

he is definitely a follower not a leader and is more than happy to do what he is told  as long as he gets rich doing it.

The stereotypes

 

A group of 8 who embody stereotypical views of the G8 nations  France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada

From France comes Gaston Leclaire alias Oignon Vendeur, the Onion Seller. He is also known as Ar Johniged or Onion Johnny. He wears the stereotypical beret and striped shirt, sports a mustache and can be seen riding a bicycle. He often is mistaken as a drunk because of his consumption of wine which is always French. However his onions are grenades of various types (darkness, flash bombs, stun grenades, normal explosive grenades and a variety of very powerful grenades which can take out one traget or a variety of them). He typically targets anyone voicing anti-French views i.e. calling the French cheese eating surrender monkeys so the Americans are his usual targets if he is notfighting someone who is English.

He gets on well with his partners in private but can play up arguments in public in order to lure opponents into a trap i.e. quarralling with the Roast Beef which is the French nickname for the English in order that either of them or their colleagues can get an advantage.

From the United Stares of America (or should that be Confederate States) is Whistling Dixie. Dixie Belle Dixen is a stuck-up southern belle mutant obsessed with the Old South, and with the power to whistle up the wind for various effects. She enjoys ordering others around in a deeply southern accent. She dislikes Mexicans and 'dark skinned people', but gets along with her team members...most of the time.

Canada is represented by the Red Leaf. He is slow to action but when he does he brings with him the power of the mighty maple leaf. He likes to use a hockey stick and Toothy, his trained beaver, as his weapons of choice.

Georgy Orlov, aka the Russian Steamroller enjoys crushing anyone and anything weaker than him.  His refurbished Soviet-era semi-cylindrical armored suit rotates with such power that he can grind through any substance - or person! - that gets in his way.  At heart, however, he is a bit of a coward and when up against someone able to outfight/outsmart him, he typically beats a hasty retreat.
