Plots for the Holidays

With Halloween upon us, and the usual shoving of Christmas down our throats ( I love Christimas, but malls and other places should not be pushing it pre Halloween, thanks) I got to thinking of what plots might be fun to run for games based on those holidays?

One that comes to mind for Halloween is a plot from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where everyone in Sunnydale who went to a certain store started changing 'into' their costumes. It's certainly workable for Champions. One could picture Talisman getting into the act and trying something similar as a 'distraction' for the heroes.

Thanksgiving is a time of joy and togetherness... unless you're a turkey. What if some deranged group (think a combo of PETA and VIPER) captured and threatened to slow cook the city's children to make their demented point?

I'd come up with one for Christmas, but all I'm getting in my head are Tick reruns

"Tick, you've believed in Santa longer than any sane person would" :)

I still get a kick out of the premise of Scott Heine's article, "The Fright Before Christmas" from Adventurers Club #22. The Skull Pendant (from To Serve and Protect), which causes anyone who touches it to become obsessed with punishing what they see as wrong behavior, falls into the hands of Santa Claus - the Santa Claus. Knowing every child in the world who's been naughty, Santa is now driven to punish them, harshly.

"Dark Santa" forces his elves to build a powered-armor suit for him (and Scott's depiction of a "punk" Santa suit is frankly hilarious). The writeup of Santa's powers is also pretty neat.

Thanksgiving - giant parade balloons (Snoopy, Garfield, etc) get turned into twisted monsters by mystical villain. Could YOUR hero flame blast a 40' tall "Annie"? :P Well, since it's been crushing cars, I guess so. Find some stuffed dolls/toys to use as props, and let loose!

Halloween - group of villains and their thugs all dress up in various costumes and go on crime spree. Heroes (hopefully) have to hold back until they can identify the supers - is it the nurse? The cowboy? The pirate?

Christmas - Power-armored rascist calling himself the KKK (Kristmas Kill Kommando or somesuch) attacks various minority churches, etc while blaring out "White Christmas" from his suit's loudspeakers.

Hannukah - villain plans eight nights of robberies as "presents" to themselves.

LOL! :D (With those sentiments it shouldn't be funny, but it's just too absurd to take seriously.)

A very light weight plot here...

Could be interesting if some other bored villain dressed up for Halloween as some other well known villain (or hero!) and wasnt planning anything wrong, but while out trick or treating and helping the rugrats gets caught up in something.

Like a brickish villain that usually works in a team. Hes not feeling evil or anything, just kinda laid back today or bummed out and restless so he grabs a costume of some other hero or villain for fun and goes out to wander around and maybe knock on a door or two for the heck of it. Scam some free candy or something. And takes an interest in some kids that remind him of himself way back when so starts escorting them around but it turns out the kid's parent is messed up with an underworld syndicate (a scientist or lawyer or whatever). They send a bunch of guys out to collect the kid as leverage and the heroes stumble across this when they see someone they think is (Insert hero here) but is actually the villain and try to help him get the kid back.

Will the players figure out the hero isn't quite himself? The disguised villain has no need to tell them and get clobbered on his 'night off'.

One story I ran a few years ago on Christmas Eve:

A very rich character (15 points in wealth) started chasing around a villain team, who kept robbing unusual places, he emptied a grocrey store, he ripped off a Toy's R Us, Stole some stuff from a paper ware house.

He tore up the park as well.

Reading about what he did you can see the pattern, but being in the middle of it the players never figured it out till the end.

It ended with the rich character letting the team paying for all the robberies and getting the companies to drop the charges...and a lot of homeless kids getting a good christmas dinner...

Including one kid with a bum leg saying at the end

"God Bless Us, Everyone"

It's a terribly worn cliche but there is always the desperately saught item that gets slipped into this year's hot toy. Villainous parties are breaking into homes on christmas eve and doing more than ripping up presents and one type of toy in their quest to recover it.

To counterspin, it could be Black harlequin who has rigged every one of this years uber toy with a deathtrap. The pcs, who've only found this out at 2 minutes to midnite, must track down they toys and disarm/destroy them before people are hurt.

Re: Plots for the Holidays

Excuse the thread necromancy

St. Patrick's Day plots for Champions

The Green is wearing YOU- The week or so before St. Patty's day, a small and new biotech botanical company claims they've mass produced 4 leaf clovers that anyone can wear and that survive a great deal longer. The items become a novelty hit, but unknown to most, the clovers do draw sustenence, from their new hosts and meat puppets-humanity. Soon, hundreds of people have thin green roots dug into their flesh, tied into their nerves, and controlling their bodies and brains. It's an alien take over, but to what purpose? Can the heroes find out, and stop it in time?

Driving the Snakes out - VIPER agents all through out the city are winding up dead, many with their skulls cracked as if by cudgeling. Whoever is hunting VIPER seems to know where the Nest(s) is located, their Methods of operation, and more. There is no fair trial sought here, and the only clue is notes left by a 'St. Patrick" . Some heroes might not feel too motivated to help the evil Organization, but then PRIMUS comes to them. It turns out this St. Patrick has already killed some of their undercover specialists who were posing as VIPER agents to infiltrate. More are endangered by this if it continues. Will the heroes help stop the St. Patrick Vigilante?

Everybody gets lucky- It's March 17th, and everyone seems to suddenly have the luck of the Irish (Well, better really). This seems wonderful at first, but when neither side can lose, contests never really get resolved. When almost EVERYONE in a lottery has the lucky numbers, the prize is reduced to nothing. From there, it just gets weirder and weirder, nevermind that villains too are having odd lucky breaks, and using it to get away with crimes they'd never succeed at (even if some of them face cops who somehow pull off near superheroic stunts now). Clearly some mystical force is behind this, but who? And what are they hoping to achieve?

Re: Plots for the Holidays

Could certainly be altered to fit that. :)

Anyone else have any St. Patty Day's plot seeds?

Well, the obvious one for me would be " The Snakes come back"

as the reference about St Pat & the snakes is usually considered to be actually talking about him breaking the hold of the druidic faith, St Paddy's would be the perfect day for some uber powerful Dark Druid type (Samhain, anyone?) to show up at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin and challenge the Archbishop to a test of Divine powers, just like Patrick did way back when when challenging the chief Druid at Tara.
