Joe Walsh
I was so shocked and saddened when I got today's issue of AbChaos, announcing Greg's death. He was a true hero of the industry, and did more than nearly anyone else to advance the hobby. He'll be missed, but his legacy will live on. Here's a nice note about Greg Stafford by John Wick: http://johnwickpresents.com/games/the-grey-crane/
death tribble
I went to GenCons from 1990 to 1993 and during that time I went to a breakfast hosted by TSR that had various people from other companies which included Greg Stafford. Nice Guy. RIP
Lawnmower Boy
I'm actually popping over in response to a Notification.* That's how shocked and sad I am. *A thing about 2018 that I'm increasingly thinking Will Not Be Missed. Not that it'll hit the top ten list for this year, but. . .
Lucius
I light the candle and turn the wheel for one who created a world of Gods and Heroes. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary intones, what is remembered, lives.
pinecone
Holy smoke! A great person, and a titan in gaming. Met him few times, played board games with him. He will be missed.
assault
I met him once. He visited Melbourne while I was living there. He wasn't that old. Anyone up for a game of Runequest? Pendragon? Prince Valiant?
assault
A randomly selected passage from King of Sartar: "In the beginning, before any people lived; before there was an animal which walked, flew, crawled, swam or dug; before there was a sun, or a sky, or a rock for you to sit upon; before, even, there was making or unmaking, there was the First War.In those days there were two tribes. One of those tribes was the Predark. They were monstrous beings - if one of them was here it would drive the mind and soul right out of your body, even if you were the wisest priest, with the Eight Shields on, or the bravest chieftain. The demon wouldn't even have to do anything. Just seeing it would kill us. It is so dangerous that many kinds of people must not even think too hard about these things. We know the names of some of the demons: Unmotioned, Too Big to Think Of, Make Everything Tired, No Parents, Can't Be Moved, Never The Same, Ill Before, Beyond Walls, and especially Before Still, their leader." pinecone
