  2. Re: Marvel Characters And why wouldn't it work?
  3. Re: Total Newbie Here; prospective HERO-er Any questions, ask here. This is just about the friendliest and most knowledgeable gaming community you will ever find and there's always Steve Long himself if you are really stuck. Welcome aboard.
  4. Re: World War II I'll start. According to my calculations the Polish campaign began on Sept 1, 1939 and effectively ended on Oct 1, 1939. Therefore the total campaign lasted 21600 Hero turns. Hope that helps.
  5. Re: Character concept: a modern Lady of the Lake Insert 'watery tart' comment here.
  6. Re: What are the Must have books for starting a Superhero campaign? Hero Designer v3. Not a book but a huge help to new, heck, ANY, GM.
  7. Re: Sonof Secret Origins! When did you start reading superhero comics? Wow . . . Dell Comics . . . Tarzan, Torok, that kinda thing along with Classics Illustrated. Guess I was about five so that was 1959 or so. That was three years before I discovered libraries and books that didn't need pictures.
  8. Re: stealth 2 Faster you move the more, likely you are to be noticed. I think you can move at half your movement without penalty. After that, negative modifiers to your Stealth rolls.
  9. Re: stealth question It doesn't sound to me like the player should have an opportunity to use Stealth, not while in plain sight. If he ducked out of sight for even a moment, sure but he'd have to break that LOS.
  10. Re: body question Ah . . . the heroic mentality . . . BK: 'Tis but a scratch KA: A scratch? Your arm's off. [/url]BK: No it isn't. KA: What's that, then? BK: . . . I've had worse. KA: You liar. BK: Come on ya pansy. I am too lazy to look it up to see if it is a real rule or just how I play it but I penalize a wounded character at the rate of -1 to everything they do per -2 BODY they are below 0.
  11. Re: How would you build? Variable Power Pool, 10 base + 7 control cost, Powers Can Be Changed As A Zero-Phase Action (+1), No Skill Roll Required (+1); Character Has No Choice Regarding When Or How Powers Change (-1) Adjust the base points to fit your power level.
  12. Re: [bUILD ADVICE] Dazzler I'd have to check but I converted Marvel characters from the MSHG using the charts in an old AC. I did increase some things on them so they were survivable in my campaign since I believe the average 350 Champions character will most likely kill the average Marvel character rather quickly. Also I based all the Marvel characters I have made on their write ups prior to 1994 or so. The only reason I presented the character was for the general make up of her primary power. From the MSHG. I just took it as an increases PRE. How would you take it?
  13. Re: [bUILD ADVICE] Dazzler My take on Dazzler http://the-wild-hunt.org/x-men/dazzler.html
  14. Re: Confessions of an Online GM Well, what you do is find some GM that purchased a chat base program, say Klooge Werks . . . and that purchased four extra 'floating licenses' so that he could bring players in without their having to lay out any cash. All you'd have to do is download the Demo of Klooge Werks from one of the many sites, like over at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=4533& then the GM can open a room and let you drop by and see what's up. Let me know when a good time is for you. Just make sure to use the Player button when it comes up and let it do the updates. You can find my games under the Wild Hunt.
  15. Re: WWYCD?: The blatant-ening. This is a game. The point is to enjoy said game. Would my players enjoy the game if I presented them with this scenario? No. Would my GM present me with such a scenario? No.
  16. Re: Hero Help I don't mind answering questions of any length. You can contact me on Yahoo and don't hesitate to try me even if you don't see me as being online. Just make sure you tell me who you are when you send the request.
  17. Re: Which characters would you enjoy playing? Taurus and Capricorn of the Zodiac Conspiracy. Taurus is very urbane and extremely well-educated, an excellent example of a thinking villain. He sounds just like George Sanders. Capricorn is sophisticated, romantic, a lost soul with a frivolous attitude that hides his pain. He is very soft-spoken with an undefinable accent. Both have been major NPCs in my campaign for many years. As for heroes? I don't use them for more than background to a story.
  18. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? Isn't this an example of how to use a Transform more than an example of a Drain and Inherent?
  19. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? Sorry, I was just using the generic term. I do require something more specific than 'Drain Flight'.
  20. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? I agree, Phil. If you choose to be a living diamond, or a member of the 'winged people', why should you have to pay extra to make things Inherent if a 'human' isn't required to do the same?
  21. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? I gave my player 5 xp and told her to buy some Common Sense. She promptly started arguing that if I took her OAF from her, she'd lose the points forever because it could never be replaced. I took the 5 xp back.
  22. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? I like Steve's answer to Lucius' question over in Hero System 5th Edition Rules Questions!
  23. Re: Inherent, does anyone use it? How? I totally agree with "Keith "Inherently right on this " Curtis". I wish I had been as eloquent.
