  1. Re: Pulp Goodies From "Wildcat Books" I would absolutely love to. The only problem is that it is the property of someone else who I do not know. I figured that working with Ron Fortier on a project he is close to would be a good "in" with the fella who owns it (and also knows Ron). Of course an unofficial writeup would be great. I just like to ask for permission to play in someone's backyard.
  2. Re: Pulp Goodies From "Wildcat Books" Oh, and I have asked Ron Fortier (the author of the Hazzard and Grimm stories)already about a HERO adaptation of Hazzard (just feelers to see if there was any interest on his part). He was very interested but was looking to wait until after a comic form of Hazzard came out. Since I have not seen any news on the comic in some time, I may ask him again.
  3. Re: Pulp Goodies From "Wildcat Books" When you do get around to these, I would suggest the Capain Hazzard and Brother Grimm books strongly. Both are excellent, Grimm is actually a collection of short stories (watch for the typoes, it was early in their history, they slowly get better over time but still have a few). I noticed you didn't you didn't pick up Lance Starr (one of the airplane adventurers of the period written by modern authors in the pulp style) or the Agent X stuff which are also very good (but hey, sounds like you got a heck of a reading list there already).
  4. Re: My Cool Color Hudson City Map It just so happens that there are full color maps of Tuala Morn that can be resized easily... Getting one of the whole land might be a bit harder though... Myself, I am still very interested in the Full color maps of Hudson City.
  5. In light of saome of the discussions of Crossovers, I thought I'd point out a great read. I just recieved and went straight through (only ~150 pages), Joe Lansdale's Dead in the West today. I don't know if anyone has brought this up, so apologies if it is something that has already been discussed. Dead in the West is a mix of Western and Horror, specifically Zombie goodness. Darn'd fine book if I do say so m'self. The characters are a bit stereotypical, but the story itself is a funky take on the classic western with more than enough to make it compelling. Lansdale is the same guy that wrote the shortstory Bubba Ho-Tep, so when I saw that I knew I'd picked a winner.
  6. Re: Beware of Gerbilling! In before the lock
  7. Re: Stalin's Army of Dog-Men! As my 500th post here, I would say that Stalin would not be above that which you describe. In fact, that would not have been in his Top 10 Very Bad Things list. Plus, Vodka no doubt helps.
  8. Re: The 300 HERO-fied? He does not appear to be happy about it though...
  9. Re: The 300 HERO-fied? Actually the 300 was sort of in a Hero product already. Okay, maybe only in my own head. On the planet Adamant (from Worlds of Empire), there is a City called Sparta on one of the continents, on the other end of that continent is a string of mountains along the coast and the "Thermal Gates Project" (I wanted to call it "Hot Gates" - as in 'Thermo Pylae' - but Steve rightly said it sounded like a Porn Star) between the coast and mountains. By the time I got to the project, the text for the book was already written but I envisioned a clash at the Project where a substantial force of Xenovores on the ground were held off by a small number of volunteers from Sparta during a raging storm and named it accordingly. I still think it would make a great adventure.
  10. Re: Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League! Well, the Little China connection has been debunked, but the rest of it is cool. The trivia about Xan more or less jives with the book.

    Jonah Hex?

Re: Jonah Hex? He can smoke, it just aint pretty
  12. Re: Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League! Hanoi Xan and the World Crime League play a much larger role in the book, which is not so much a novelization as a companion to the movie. The book for example covers a lot of things that were done offscreen, sometimes way way offscreen. Not that any of what you posted is bad or anything, very nice stuff. The version of the League in my book is based off of the book but adds a lot of stuff not found there as well.
  13. Re: UnCaped: February Issue A con has taken up my time, so not until after this weekend.
  14. Re: Hey there Little Buckaroo: The Banzai Primer I can do an add on which includes Jack, I just don't have time before the Con (which starts tomorrow) as I am setting stuff up for this and all my other games. If someone has a more recent pic of Mrs. Johnson I'd love to include her somewhere (The last movie I think she was in was in the 90s I could not find anything recent which is why I didn't include her). I'd like a few more independent villains as well. My only problem with Kim Possible is that she is an animated character (which is also why I didn't do Team Venture, a show I love that fits into the genre albiet waaaay to the pardoy side even beyond Steve Zissou).
  15. Re: Hey there Little Buckaroo: The Banzai Primer Yeah, I know. I would have included Jack Burton, I actually wanted to include Tim Thomerson as Jack Deth too. That was why I dug up Elizabeth Pena's pic :appreciative sound: for an "Independents" section, but then I looked at it and I was already at 14 pages. So I slotted in Mz. Pena as Doc's granddaughter and just sat on Jack Deth and Jack Burton for now. (The independents would have also included Lara Croft and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, so that wasn't really something I wanted to do being Brangelinaphobic). And yep, it is 6 Goldblum's really. One of them is rather "hidden", one liner and not even a direct mention of his character from the movie. Although someone sent me a line already which picked up on it, so I'm happy. I really enjoyed going all "Wold Newton" on the Primer, plus a couple of sight gags etc.
  16. Re: Hey there Little Buckaroo: The Banzai Primer I could not find a recent picture of her. All the rest have recent pics (except for Hikita, but he was in makeup in the first place)
  17. The following pdf is a primer for Buckaroo Banzai that I have prepared for an upcoming Covention Game. I'm putting this thread in with the Pulp Material for two reasons: first, because Buckaroo Banzai really is a modern pulp character -- a Doc Savage of the 1980s. second, because I have made certain that I linked Buck with the "Men of Bronze", a few of the other Pulp heroes of the era (sometimes I hid it well). There are a lot of veiled references to other movies (including six Goldblum refs) which I added for my own amusement (and hopefully yours). I also managed to get the other side of the coin in too - sometimes allies like Steve Zissou who is sort of an anti-hero, but oddly still pulpish in many ways. And of course (for those who have read the Book), the infaous Hanoi Xan, Pivot of Destiny yadayada who is kind of Moriarty, Fu Manchu and Dr. Evil all rolled into one.
  18. Re: Stopping a Zeppelin following a Zeppelin? Turn that frown upside down. I think that a stragically brilliant Masatermind like Skymaster would be very very interested in how someone is able to follow after him. This can become an added complication for the adventure, the Skyfortress gets further and further away, turns into a cloud bank and yet you manage to stay on it. Then suddently it starts getting closer, and then the planes come, or perhaps an autogyro with a few commando types bent on seeing what exactly allows you to trail him. I have always envisioned Skymaster as a young Bill Shatner. "With this technology... (plus an extra beat) I can rule (facial expression) the world." p.s. Check the speeds, doesn't the Skyfortress go a lot faster than most normal Zepplins? I mean, it might become a non-issue.
  19. Re: Tuala Morn Discussion I'm waiting for someone to say that they came from "Cat Hair" such-and-such, I have a response all picked out.
  20. Re: UnCaped: February Issue Well, tragedy has struck Team Publius here at the Uncaped Offices... I've had a catastrophic OS breakdown. XP took a nosedive on me last week and I have spent most of the weekend and will be spending even more time coming up real soon trying to find all of my files scattered about here and there on what is left of the hard drive. On the plus side, I do think that March survived. I'll have to see once I re-install the software I need. Also, I sent a version of March to some folks and if I cannot find the originals (which would be a crying shame) I can at least get the last version I did in gif form sent back to me. No worries then, but it will probably not be here until the end of the month.
  21. Re: UnCaped: February Issue Actually next month will have two versions, censored and uncensored. The uncensored will be elsewhere (and not a one-click away). I'll clown around with a site design sometime in my copious free time.
  22. May I present the Feb '07 Issue of Uncaped. As with the first one, art and titles are mine. This one I tried my hand at drawing a figure instead of just a face using a photo for reference. See I can learn from critique I'm still not convinced I can draw the body well consistantly, but I am very happy with this (other than the hands, very tough using my program). Oh, and possibly NSFW if there is a problem with Ferengi style "cleavage" (Or as I like to call it, undercleavage)
