  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Session IV of Unknown Armies in which our... "heroes" must deal with various celebrities who've risen from the grave and assumed the characteristics of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Cast: Tony "Bender" Bendetti -- Mafia made man and dipsomancer. Paulie "Fender" -- Mafia wheelman Sam Tsung -- Avatar of the Masterless Man Elmore James Winchester -- Avatar of the Pilgrim The Undead: Toshiro Mifune -- Greed Frank Sintatra -- Gluttony Ernest Hemmingway -- Lust John Lennon -- Wrath Marlin Brando -- Sloth Estelle Getty -- we don't know This leaves Pride/Vanity and Envy. We also suspect Elvis is heading to Vegas from Graceland. If we meet him, we'll probably be able to determine who Estelle is. Er... was. Sam destroyed her, John, and Marlin. Paulie took out Ernest. And Bender destroyed Toshiro and Frank. Sam Tsung (OOC): How would we know if Yoko Ono came back from the dead?" Bender (OOC): "Standard Unknown Armies Scene Number 23." Paulie (OOC): "[using] Hookers as character witnesses... let's ponder that for a minute." Bender (to Paulie): "I forgive you for running over me." Pauile's OOC observation on life in the game: "I am fate's butt-puppet." Elmore James Winchester: "I wonder what it's like to be a walking corpse?" Sam (OOC): "Sam doesn't dislike you enough to sat 'Want to find out?'." Pauile (OOC): If you have a Hemmingway lasting more than four hours." Sam comments to the GM on the current state of affairs: "John Lennon is the most dangerous guy in the room right now."
  3. Re: Worst Hero Names (of your campaigns) Which appeared in Cerebus the Aardvark, IIRC.
  4. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? The 5E HSB had Red in Tooth and Claw, the martial art, among other things. So I presume the 6E book will as well.
  5. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Mad Max. To be followed by Mad Max II: The Road Warrior and Mad Max III: Beyond Thunderdome. Guess what project I'm working on.
  6. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? Isn't that just adding the Colossal Template? Wait... and a lot of rPD and rED... and Damage Reduction. And DF: guy in a rubber suit.
  7. Re: Worst Hero Names (of your campaigns)
  8. Re: Worst Hero Names (of your campaigns) The Jeff Dee set of Cardboard Heroes from SJG had "Miss Fist" (or was Ms Fist? Mrs. Fist?)

  10. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? And if it doesn't you can always lop the head of the offending monster and take its Quickening.
  11. Re: Your "2010" Pet Gaming Projects I highly recommend the soundtracks to Black Hawk Down and District 9 as mood music.

  13. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? Have you read the Asian Bestiaries? How's Steve gonna get any bizarre than what's in there?
  14. Re: Creatures of Irish Myth See? Told ya.
  15. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? Well, for starters, everything is in 6E, which is important to me right there. And while I own the HSB, MMM, and the ABs, having the bulk of them in one book along with added bonuses like stuff from the HPAs and Tuala Morn, allows me to set aside and/or sell off/give away my 5E books that I know I won't need (and no, you can't have my ABs, I worked hard for/on those).
  16. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See?
  17. Re: Creatures of Irish Myth Actually, I haven't seen the whole list. I'll also say that many of these might be in the new HSB, because Steve will adapt them from Tuala Morn.
  18. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM BESTIARY: What Do *You* Want To See? Is that like "second breakfast"?
  19. The Art of Manliness Dictionary of Manly 19th Century Vernacular Admiral of the Red: A person whose very red face evinces a fondness for strong potations. All-overish: Neither sick nor well; the premonitory symptoms of illness. Also the feeling which comes over a man at a critical moment, say just when he is about to “pop the question.” Sometimes this is called, “feeling all-over alike, and touching nowhere.” Anointing: A good beating. A case for the application of salve. http://artofmanliness.com/2010/03/10/manly-slang-from-the-19th-century/

  21. Re: More Complications, Please 5th helped change that by increasing the base and decreasing the number of Disads needed to balance the character. However, Steve does seem to be a minimalist and I was surprised to see Dr. Destroyer in CKC have a total of around 3 Disads (Hunted, one Psych, and Reputation). I figured he'd have a few more, at least.
  22. Re: Do I need the 6th Martial Arts book? Well, personally, I don't think it should be a martial maneuver.
  23. Re: More Complications, Please The problem is (for me) that threads like this start to sound like those horrid ads that White Wolf used to run. "Well, real role players run their characters like this." With the implication that I'm some sort of mouth-breathing knuckle-dragger for not doing it that way.
  24. Re: More Complications, Please Then I guess I know nothing about any of the characters I've ever created.
