Perhaps part of a Kelownan mating ritual involves both partners consciously/openly adopting a single trait from the other partner (i.e., Jonas had his hair cut into a style similar to his prospective romantic partner?) as a sign of love? Could this be Jonas' social chameleon ability subconsciously manifesting itself?

Anyhow, in one of those 2e continuations of a classic 1e adventure (I'm deliberately omitting further details in hopes of avoiding spoilers), there's an isolated tower - curiously shaped like a rook - way out in the boonies; the tower itself is a Mimic! Anyone who has sought refuge within is in for the shock of their lives once they start poking around.

In AD&D 2e, it's trivial to take a "House Hunter" Mimic and give it a blood/energy drain effect. Call it a monster.
