  1. Re: Any voip/skype super games? at all? Wow... now I really wish I had a mic just so I could ASK to play I've been itching to play a Magical Gadgeteer. Ah well. C'est la vie *shrug*
  2. Re: Animal Imitation question I'd consider VPP for a VERY good reason if it was used by a player I know isn't a Munchkin. The guys with 10 pages of crap who never showed: His face was in the dictionary under Munchkin, Powergamer and Min-Maxer.
  3. Re: Juggernauts Unlimited A Juggernaut Powered Armor (Dr. Destroyer comes to mind).
  4. Okay, so there are two types of Base Characteristics, Physical and Mental. The Physical Characteristics are STR, DEX, CON, BOD, COME (I'm using FRED, btw); and the Mental Characteristics are INT, EGO and PRE. It seems to me that any drain that affected the Mental Characteristics should go against Mental Defense instead of Power Defense without having to go through AVLD. For example, an ability that cripples its victims with fear would be a Drain vs PRE (anyone drained to 0 PRE would curl up into a ball shivering). An ability that Siphons off intellect would be a Transfer for INT, and something that weakens the willpower of others would be a Drain against EGO. Sounds like Mental Defense by default to me. Your thoughts?
  5. Re: Animal Imitation question My number one problem with VPP is when players try to reconfigure it at the last moment (as in, right before game time) and not having their math right. And then proceeding to argue with me over the math. I do have a house rule in place already that a player cannot have a power in his VPP without me approving it. My number two is when a player hands me a list 10 pages long (I kid you not) in size 10 font of all of his pre-built powers for his Gadgeteer's VPP. As I had not developed the 2 abilities per 5 pts in the pool idea yet, I spent the better part of the weekend ripping his list apart. And then that player decided he didn't want to play. He was henceforth banned from any and all games in town. As far as "suprises" go, I'm of the school that "A GM should know exactly what the PC's abilities are." This is for two reasons. A) So you don't accidently kill the whole Party by throwing them up against something they can't handle (especially a problem in DnD) and No GM should EVER say "you can do that?"
  6. Re: Reflexive Discorporation I agree, Damage Reduction would probably be the way to go... But as cost isn't an issue I'd examine a) What are the SFX that can hit him and do any PC's have Affects Desolid. If the PC's have a moderate chance of hurting "Dust Man" then go Desolid. If not, DR.
  7. Re: Mechanon No... but you could crash a fighter-craft into the bridge of a 2-KM Space Ship, and have the ship fall into him... Would Mechanon 3k be immune to a Genesis Torpedo?
  8. Re: Animal Imitation question Concur. I've been contemplating a house rule for my games that any character who wants a VPP is limited to a list of up to two unique/individual powers for every five Points in the Pool. Cosmic Power Pools are limited to just one per 5 Points in the Pool. Modifying an existing power would count towards the list of fixed items. Thus a gadgeteer with a 60 point pool could have up to 24 different inventions he's allowed swap-out. And if his list was full and he wanted to modify one of his 24 inventions (say, his normal Shieild belt is a 10/10 OIF with an END Reserve and he wants to down-grade it to a 5/5 and use those "parts" to enhance his Tractor-beam Gauntlet he would need to spend the appropriate number of points to upgrade his VPP by 5 Pool-Points (allowing for two new inventions). Sound too limiting? not limiting enough?
  9. Re: Alien Contact For Dummies ROTFLMAO This is so true. Reading this should be mandatory for everyone everywhere. What's scary is that 90% (and I feel I'm being generous, here) would do exactly the opposite of almost everything on that sheet.
  10. Re: Yet another D&D to Fantasy HERO conversion
  11. Re: Beating Dr. Destroyer...how do (or did) you do it? Ouch. I feel sorry for the campaign city in question.
  12. Re: Help name that superhero group The Specials (how do you become a Special? You go to Special-School!) The Mystery Men Oh wait - those have been done... The League of WTF was That? Hit and Miss The Disgustors GROSS (Generic Ridiculous Over-enthusiastic Super-hero Society) HURT (Heroic Urban Rescue Team) DUMB - Dynamic Uber-Menshe Bombastique! GMC - Genetically Manipulated Crack-babies HMV - Humour Me, Villain! Or you could go with Super Hero Intervention Team. I refuse to type the Acronym for THAT Team Name, as I enjoy the privilage of participating in these Fantastically Fun Forums!
  13. Re: Beating Dr. Destroyer...how do (or did) you do it? I've never had my PC's (or been in a party) that's gone up agains the Doctor himself... It's ususally been either: A) Destroyer bots are tearing the City apart looking for some Unobtanium that only exists in a certain location or The PC's wake in one of the Doctor's bases in prison cells/laboratory and have to escape, fighting one of his high-powered minions. As for actually fighting the not-so-good Doctor... has yet to happen.
  14. Re: So....the Universe....Discuss! Interestings... our space exists in the space between space... Cthulu-Cthulu-Cthulu!!! Okay everyone... make your San Check! *Rolls an 18 on an 8-* Awww...
  15. Re: Yet another D&D to Fantasy HERO conversion Well darn - they're for Hero Designer. Which is a program I've not had opportunity to purchase. Ah well. I'll definitely keep that Forum book-marked for future reference.
  16. Re: Yet another D&D to Fantasy HERO conversion The link doesn't work... You don't happen to still have the files available do you?
  17. Re: A Body for Every Occasion Funny how that's the way it usually works out, isn't it?
  18. Re: A Body for Every Occasion Which brings up another question for me... I've been repped 4 times... how in the heck do I GIVE rep? I R Confused... Never mind... figured out 2 seconds after I posted
  19. Re: Yet another D&D to Fantasy HERO conversion Wow, this will help make my 3.5 to FRED conversion that much easier! Thanks
  20. Re: How would YOU apply this attack? Oh it does. But their justification is A) 1 round is 6 seconds and Mr. Dragon's Claw/Claw/Bite/Wing/Wing/Tail Slap is all happening at once because he is Mr. Super Co-ordination. Just like a 20th LV Fighter gets four attacks in 6 Seconds because he his supposively hitting more than one foe with a single swing. Even if he takes a five foot step between attacks 2 and 3. As I said. Love/Hate relationship. It's cool as all get out, but seems like a bit much as I seem to recall 1 Segment is 1 Second in combat time. Hitting someone 3 times in one segment with one arm... Even a D20 Monk's Flurry of Blows isn't THAT insane. Now I can see it being justifiable in someone who's special powers were speed (ie, The Flash) or if in a fantasy setting someone where magically Hasted. But even with top training and experience, being able to hit someone 3 or more times in one second in real life and be able to cause them grevious harm... dunno. Sounds a hair bit far fetched.
  21. Re: A Body for Every Occasion Hrm... would be interesting to see if anyone has tried this in a lab...
  22. Re: A Body for Every Occasion Exactly. Each Form in a multiform is for lack of a better term seperate people with a single commanding consciousness. And since each is a different person they can each have different skills. After all, if one were to Build beast boy, one would not expect his T-Rex form to have Survival (Aquatic) or his Shark Form to have Survival (Savahnah). Poor example I know, but it should give you the answer you needed.
  23. Re: A Body for Every Occasion Yeah, Silicon acts like Carbon, but if I remember correctly the Covalent bonds of Silicon are weaker than that of Carbon which is probably why Silicon-base life never evolved on Earth. If you are adamant (pun not intended) about "organic steel" then purhaps a "poly-mimetic liquid alloy" would be more appropriate for you Brick form. Just my $0.02
