  1. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat The power to roll up people the way you roll up rice. NT: Subtle signs that this wasn't a good day to join the Army.
  2. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What is it with Abe Lincoln? Why won't he return my phone calls? A: The sign says nothing about pants.
  3. I'm in the middle of working on a Hero conversion of a setting in which nearly everyone important to the campaign has a non-powered identity and a powered, costumed identity. In some cases incantations are used to switch form, but in other cases it is completely involuntary (the "other self" appears when it is needed and only when it is needed -- the character in question is going to be an NPC). The problem is that I've never mastered how Multiform works in character generation, although I know the game effect I'm looking for. Balancing points for NPCs is not that significant, but the project will feature several playable characters and balancing them out looks like it'll take some work. Suggestions?
  4. Re: Solar HERO: R.I.P. Phoenix Sounds like somebody's been reading their Bradbury.
  5. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Cmon, Sarge! Why won't you let me use the Chicken Gun on the enemy? A: When the sergeant asks you if you want to live forever, the proper answer is YES!
  6. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Thanks. My mashed potatoes just aren't the same without Hastur on them. NT: Subtle signs that your next-door neighbor is a Cthulhu cultist.
  7. Re: Answers & Questions Q: How do you play Joe the Plumber's official video game? A: And it hasn't occurred to you to ask what that dragon is doing here.
  8. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Having an uncomfortable family gathering, like everyone else. NT: Ways your family Christmas could be even more uncomfortable than it normally is.
  9. Re: Sword Oriented Martial Art I was amused to think of adventurers in plate armor, given how difficult it is to don the stuff. I can see it in a battle between armies, where you have squires and other support personnel to put your armor on you, but going into a dungeon or out into the woods? Not very practical.
  10. Re: Sword Oriented Martial Art If you're grasping the blade, do you need gloves? This reminds me to ask just how sharp the typical sword is. A razor-like edge wouldn't last very long, especially against armored opponents, but you still need "bite" to penetrate that armor.
  11. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Or, for that matter, the names that dragons give themselves (again for INT 10+ specimens). Another interesting questions: Why don't Dragons rule the world? And what would the world be like if they DID?
  12. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Which is why I mentioned Dragon society and culture as subjects to look into. How does a dragon's mind work, and how does he relate to his peers? For that matter, who does he consider his peers? And how does a dragon deal with isolation (not having contact with others of his kind for decades at a time)? If a Dragon has human-level or higher intelligence and is not just an especially large and powerful animal, then then the Dragon has some sort of culture or society. Someone raised him to be a dragon. There are things he knows, things he has questions about, and a massive number of "inferior" creatures who hate and fear, or worship, him (or both).
  13. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? "You can catch me or save Downtown. Gobbler's on the Interstate." Yep, that'd be interesting.
  14. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? And their arch-nemesis, the Doom Ducks! Enormous mallards that scatter death everywhere they go.
  15. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? I know this seems obvious, but perhaps there could be some coverage of the Dragon-Slayer, a professional hunter of dragons and their ilk, as player characters or NPCs. There should also be some discussion of dragon psychology; how do the minds of these powerful beings differ from those of humans? And of course, those dragons that can take on a human form if they choose....
  16. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat One of your knives is missing, and you have an unexpected backache that's just killing you.
  17. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Because all the pie-based powers were taken. NT: Reasons it's a bad idea to teach cows to fly airplanes.
